I’ve written a few times now, about Fred Thompson, and stated flatly he is someone I could get behind. Mona Charen, [1] who I quote all too infrequently, here at BitsBlog, agrees.
His voting record is solidly conservative. He is articulate, self-made (his father was a car salesman), highly intelligent, and exudes calm authority. His star power offers him an opening with independent voters that other candidates can only dream of, while his solid conservative credentials will excite the Republican base.
Perfect? No. Then again, nobody is. But he IS a better fit than anyone else on the radar…. which is what elections are supposed to be about, anyway.

The first Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey involving Thompson shows the former Senator from Tennessee essentially tied with the Democratic frontrunner, Senator Hillary Clinton. It’s Thompson 44% Clinton 43%. (More Below)
Stick a fork in Mrs. Clinton. She is done.
