First, a belated nod to Rodney Dill, who awarded your Bitmaster an Honorable Mention in the latest OTB Caption Contest. [1]
*The Music: Tonight, I’m doing the internet radio thing… at SmoothJazz.com [2]
Print media is not the only medium loving to the Internet; radio is quickly joining that move, as well. Most radio stations around the country have some kind of an Internet presence, and generally are streaming to the net, as well. Back in the day, it was a rare person indeed who could listen to out of town radio stations on a regular basis. I’ve done that for a number of years. Even though I am some 400 miles from NYC, and perhaps 650 miles from Boston, Baltimore, Washington DC, and further to Nashville to name a few places, I listen to them all quite regularly… in the truck, usually. But let’s face it, I’m a rarity, there.
But there are some people, who started are not radio stations and just for the Internet , not as an offshoot of a regular mainline broadcast station. Smoothjazz.com is one of these.
I developed the habit just after they first put up their 128 kilobit stream, of rolling tape on whatever their output was. The idea being that I had some fairly unique listening in the truck on long hauls. I still have a few hundred hours of tapes set up like that. Beats the heck out of most local stations, anymore.

* Jon Voight [3] just made up for the Jane Fondle Movie he made, years ago.
* My view of it is this: they say our president lied to us. Well, he didn’t lie to us, everybody else had the information he had, and they voted for that tactic. And the idea of weapons of mass destruction, whether they were in fact removed to other places, to Lebanon, to Syria, that’s still in play, we don’t know the full answer of where all that stuff went, because they had it, they have the pieces. Now, whether someone else has them or whether we’re playing a careful game not to reveal that we know where things are, that’s another big aspect of it. The Administration’s in a tough spot, because if they say they know where these pieces are, and they can’t get at them, they’re alerting other energies to know where they are.
…
The question for me is: who are you and where are your sensibilities? If you’re part of a left-wing bias and want to turn what I say in favor of someone on your agenda, I would say I don’t want to talk about it with you. It’s difficult for me … because I see so many people go in the wrong direction. I see it all the time and it’s very, very disturbing. What’s being said in so many places in the country is just dangerous.
While you might not hear people say, “I don’t support the troops”, the country and the media on the whole are increasingly caustic and critical of the president and Iraq. Does that bother you?
It’s a tidal wave going in this direction. It’s sad for me. The attack on George Bush I find to be reprehensible. From the beginning it was politically motivated, and it’s been very successful, the disrespect for our president and for our country and for our government. I have a great regard for our government. We have all sorts of checks and balances that are afforded to us by our constitution. We have a lot of wonderful hardworking people in the government. Once it gets to be partisan, it takes the energy in another direction. There was a big movement to impeach Lincoln during the Civil War, but it is not healthy at this time when we are fighting a very vicious enemy that has made it very clear in their attacks on American embassies and the Twin Towers, and on our forces what they intend. So I imagine you’re a supporter of the Patriot Act?
Yes, I’m a supporter of the Patriot Act. I support protecting us and investigating anyone who indicates they’re going to be dangerous to our country.
FanTAStic!!! There’s much more at the link, of course.
Well done, Jon.

* Yes, I know, I didn’t get to posting a nightly ramble, last night. My time was occupied with the Buffalo Sabres. There’s nothing like a playoff run, to divert your attention. Usually, to be honest, I’m not that much into hockey. I could even tell you who is on our local hockey team, much less some of the other players in the American hockey league. But the national hockey league, is another story, because the Buffalo Sabres of employing extraordinarily well that year, and look like they’re going to go very far in the playoffs, if not all the way.
I like winners. Americans generally do. When those winners, happen to be a fairly local team, it makes it interesting to me. So, if I’m not here, on a given night, you can pretty much bad that I am stuck in front of it to someplace, watching the unfolding drama. I guess that if I had my druthers I would just as soon they played the playoffs a little earlier in the year, so that we were not dealing with such crappy ice conditions. (Shrug)
