Breakfast Scramble

DavidL's Breakfast Scramble
Does this sound like a civilian criminal? From the New York Slimes [1]:

A Connecticut man who was arrested as his plane was about to take off from Kennedy Airport [2] admitted on Tuesday that he had tried to explode a car bomb in Times Square, and had received bomb-making training in the militant strongholds of western Pakistan, according to a criminal complaint.

[…]

The man, Faisal Shahzad, 30, was charged with attempting to use weapons of mass destruction and several related crimes as the investigation into Saturday night’s failed car bombing in the heart of Manhattan widened rapidly on two continents, with Pakistani authorities arresting several people connected to the suspect.

Did Eric Holder’s Justice Department lawyers just take Faisal Shahzad at word thst he no terrorist ties before they read him his Miranda rights?  Evidently.    Shahzad sound like combatant to me, weapon of mass destruction and enemy training.  What does Shahzad sound like to you?

More, Useless Toady [3]:

Reuters quotes the source as saying the suspect has admitting buying the truck, putting the devices together into the vehicle and leaving it at the scene.

“He’s claimed to have acted alone,” the source says, according to Reuters.

Earlier, a Taliban group in Pakistan claimed responsibility for the attempting bombing.

[…]

Time quotes a Pakistani government source, speaking on condition of anonymity, as saying that the suspect had ties with militants while in Pakistan. “He was here at a training camp,” the source said, according to the magazine. The source also claimed that members of Shahzad’s family were arrested in Karachi on Tuesday morning.

So why is Shahzad still in civilian custody?

Obama the post-civil President, I see no need to be more civil than the President of the United States.  So I will not, from Jake Tapper, ABC News [4]:

Three days after he decried the lack of civility in American politics, President Obama is quoted in a new book about his presidency referring to the Tea Party movement using a derogatory term with sexual connotations.

In Jonathan Alter’s “The Promise: President Obama, Year One,” [5] President Obama is quoted in an interview saying that the unanimous vote of House Republicans vote against the stimulus bills “set the tenor for the whole year … That helped to create the tea-baggers and empowered that whole wing of the Republican Party to where it now controls the agenda for the Republicans.”

Mr. President, my former congressman, Eric “periscope” Massa is a tea-bagger.  So might be Barney Fag.   Speaking of stimulus, so Mr. President, How’s that stimulus bill working for ya?

More, Nice Deb [6]:

I never intended for my Obama Sets the Tone [7] post to become a running series, but if he keeps contradicting himself in such a nakedly hypocritical way, there could be no end to these.
