From Boycotts to Delays, Republicans Using Tough Tactics to Disrupt Obama Agenda

Fox News’ Carl Carmeron notes: [1]

Republicans are using tough new tactics to disrupt President Obama’s second-term agenda and appointments, beginning to step up their fight six months after the party’s presidential election defeat.

Minority Republicans in the Senate this week boycotted a committee vote on the president’s nominee for EPA administrator, Gina McCarthy. Separately, they delayed another panel vote on the president’s pick for Labor secretary, Thomas Perez, for a second time.

The moves were blasted by Democrats as continued obstruction by an obstinate party.

“This is a pattern,” Sen. Ben Cardin, D-Md., said. “This is a pattern of blocking President Obama’s confirmation votes on his key Cabinet positions.”

But they come as Congress approaches yet another election year, with Republicans trying to get back on offense.

In addition to the nomination delays, Republican leaders fired off a letter this week to the president refusing to appoint anyone to an ObamaCare panel meant to hold down Medicare costs.

The Independent Payment Advisory Board, as it is called, has been criticized in the past as a “death panel” — reflecting concerns that it would be used to deny care to seniors — though supporters say it would not ration care.

The letter from House Speaker John Boehner and Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell cited concerns about access to care. “Because the law will give IPAB’s 15 unelected, unaccountable individuals the ability to deny seniors access to innovative care, we respectfully decline to recommend appointments,” they wrote.

Nice they’re doing this.
But, wouldn’t it have been easier to stick to conservative principles so such extraordinary measures would not be required? The extra work they’re going through now in support of conservative values,  is an exact measure of how far away they moved from them, which in turn allowed this slime ball into office in the first place. There are those who will suggest that the issue, the reason we have a President Obama is  is the leftist media.
And well, look…

I agree the media ends up being the cheer-leading section of team Obama. That said, I am unconvinced the American people as a whole are quite so gullible as would be required to pull off the first election, much less the second.
Add to this the polling data going into election day. Understand me clearly, here… I draw a thick line between the american people as a whole and the rather small and increasingly smaller subset that is the American voter. The delta between those numbers, and the outcome of the elections suggest, as I have pointed out before, that the majority of the American people didn’t feel they had any real choice… nobody to vote for. What we got was a choice between stone cold socialism, and the lukewarm middle of the roaders… the latter being the current day GOP.
Granted, there are those who are swayed by the current trends in the leftist media… weak brained types who can’t think for themselves. But, they’d have voted for whatever leftist got offered in any event… weak brains and inability for independent logical thinking is after all the hallmark of the left.
But these are well outnumbered by the majority, who did not vote, feeling they had nobody to vote for… the conservative majority willfully abandoned by the GOP and as the polling also suggests, these will never be swayed by the media. All that’s needed to reverse this is a conservative GOP, which we do not now have.  What we DO have, is a Democrat party so far to the left that the Democrats of 50 years ago wouldn’t recognize it…(Can you imagine Kennedy being elected today, or even nominated?)  and a GOP that is Leftist Lite.
It’s up to the GOP to reverse that. And they will, or they will cease to exist and in that event,  so will the country as such.
