[Un]SAFE New York

This is a Hi-Point 995TS.

hp995 [1]

You could call the gun a glorified varmint rifle, but you would be wrong. The gun just a over grown 9MM handgun. However this type of gun a mother used in Detroit to save the lives of her and her children, video:

Just don’t use a 995 to protect your family in New York State. Governor Cuomo, the legislature and the [Un]Safe Act have made the 995 illegal in New York State. from William A. Jacobson, Legal Insurrection [2]:

This firearm used by the mother as reflected in the video is the Hi-Point 995TS. It is a pistol-caliber carbine, chambered in 9x19mm caliber. It weighs 6.25 pounds empty, uses a proprietary 10-round magazine. It uses a simple semiautomatic action that fires one shot per trigger pull. The manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) for this model is $285, making it far cheaper than many handguns. For this reason, it is often chosen as a home defense firearm buy people on a tight budget.

I’d don’t see the 995 as my first choice for a home defense weapon, but for the size and price it is a good choice, provided you don’t live in the People’s Republic of New York

Addendum:   While Governor Andy is not willing to let you have an ugly rifle in your home, he willing to put sex offenders in your neighborhood, from Amanda Ciavarri, WHEC [3]:

It’s a story that’s gotten so much attention since News10NBC first brought it to you last week. Convicted sex offenders are quietly being moved into group homes and residential areas.

[…]

The seven sex offenders, all men, previously lived in the Monroe Developmental Center in Brighton. The state closed the facility in December, and that’s when those men were moved in here.

Their convictions range from attempted rape to child sex abuse.

“I think Governor Cuomo made this decision as a political move, to save money. He did it very secretly, he did it very quietly, and he did it at the expense of our children.

But not secretly enough.
