Sinko De Mayo

Imagine a group of wetbacks wear Mexican flag  tee shirts to celebrate Cinco de Mayo.   In response, a group of  Caucasian threaten to do bodily harm to the wetbacks.   Quicker than you can say sinko de mayo,  Eric Holder and his Department of [In]Justice is investigating the  Caucasian for hate crimes, President Dumbo is gives a speech from the Rose Garden and Chrissy Mathews throws yet another hissy fit.

Now reverse the roles, again Cinco de Mayo, the Caucasians are wearing, but it is the wetbacks who threaten violence.  What happens?   The school threatens the Caucasian and the Ninth Circus court backs up the school, from Karen, the Lonely Conservative [1]:

The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals issued a decision upholding an American high school’s ban on American flag t-shirts on Cinco De Mayo. The shirts were banned because Mexican kids threatened the students who wore them with violence. So rather than punish the thugs, they punished the victims. And the court

In making peaceful protest illegal, for some, the courts are making violent protest necessary

Reax, Patterico [2]:

Federal Court: Kids Wearing American Flag T-Shirts Must Take Them Off, Because People Threatened to Beat Them Up If They Didn’t

For what it is worth, I concede that you can argue that the United States stole California from the Mexican. In turn, I will argue that the Mexicans stole California from the Indians.

And related via Patterico [3]:

We, the Concerned Asian, Black, Latin@, Native, Undocumented, Queer, and Differently-Abled students at Dartmouth College, seek to eradicate systems of oppression as they affect marginalized communities on this campus. These systems-which include racism, classism, sexism, heterosexism, and ableism-are deployed at Dartmouth and beyond as forms of institutional violence. We demand that Dartmouth challenge these systems by redistributing power and resources in a way that is radically equitable. We believe that dialogue and resistance are both legitimate and necessary ways of disturbing the status quo and forcing parties to deal with the roots of the issues.

By March 24, 2014 (the first day of the 2014 Spring Term), the Dartmouth administration needs to publicly respond to each item raised on this document with its exact commitment to each one of its demands. We also request that, by that day, a timetable and point people are designated for the above commitments. Finally, items that require funds will have a monetary commitment in the 2014-2015 fiscal budget. If the Dartmouth administration does not respond by the indicated time, those who believe in freedom will be forced to physical action.

They are thugs at Dartsmouth, but they are not stupid. They know that threats of violence work.

Addendum, more reax from Mockarena, Chicks of the Right [4]:

The court is justifying this completely absurd decision by saying that the school was concerned about potential violent disturbances resulting from angry Mexicans. That makes me even madder. If students of Mexican descent got violent with kids for wearing American shirts IN AMERICA, then they should be expelled. Period.

Amen.
