Right up front, let’s use a little logic.
The Atlantic’s Goldberg is somebody who’s been writing anti-Trump hit pieces for quite some time, now. His political leanings are well known. His reaction to being fed the contents of that conversation, therefore, was completely predicable.
But, now, think…. why on Earth would anybody in this administration even have his contact information in their comms?
Consider; The Atlantic has been trying to discredit this administration in general and Trump in particular, for years. Does anybody suppose that Trump administration officials are keeping Goldberg in their contact list in the hope that someday they’ll be able to get him to print a positive story about this administration? Dream on.
Sorry, no. There is absolutely no reason for Goldberg to be in their contact list, which is precisely why I suggest that leak was in fact intentional…. And most likely to discredit the Atlantic. There’s no way that this was an accident.
I came to that conclusion almost immediately, and as Information continues to pour out about all this, I’ve yet to see anything to convince me that my initial assessment was incorrect.
Look, Trump has been making a lot of noise for some time now, about not starting a war, and in the case of Russia versus Ukraine, ending a war. Does it make sense that he would be trying to start a war with the Houthis?
We’re probably not going to be hearing anything more from the Houthis for a while because the idea of the administration doing precisely what they said they were going to do in that leaked conversation will be foremost in their minds.
(Yes I know that seems contradictory to the last paragraph, but mostly because of their primitive understanding of this president, they are going to see this plan as a definite threat. More on that in a moment.)
Then we come to the Atlantic itself… This story is bringing their credibility into serious question, a well deserved position for them to be in. One can easily understand why they would want Goldberg and the Atlantic to be discredited.
So, the content of that conversation gets called into serious question on the face of it, and any of it being sent to the Atlantic, even by mistake, brings it into question even further.
It makes no sense at all, any of it, until you consider the possibility that Goldberg was fed that information knowing that he was going to leak it, and knowing how the Houthis and their Iranian overlords were going to react to it.
And just why would that leak be useful? Why would the Houthis consider this conversation to be indicative of a threat?
Let me give you a historical reference. Does anyone remember this little gem? Watch:
The Russians understanding of Ronald Reagan was lacking in much the same way The Houthis’ understanding of Donald Trump is today…. And the Russians, if you’ll recall went to Red alert as a result of this. I’d say the strategist that came up with this one was counting on that scenario.
As I say, advantage Trump. I doubt we’re going to be seeing the Iran backed Houthis attacking anyone for a while.
A more peaceful Middle East and the Atlantic gets discredited. I call that a win-win situation.
