According to several sources, the erstwhile Democrat state legislators are on their way back to their job. The lines will be redrawn. Of course they’re claiming victory while being swallowed by defeat, saying they “raised awareness” of the issue.
AUSTIN, Texas (KTRK) — ABC13 has confirmed with multiple sources that House Democrats will return to Texas.
Eyewitness News has not confirmed the date, but we do know that Democrats believe they’ve accomplished their mission by killing the first special session and by raising national awareness about the mid-decade redistricting effort.
This was only ever going to go one way…. The Democrats were always ever going to be brought back to reality… and the only way to save face was to claim it was all about “raising awareness”. Makes one mindful of, in the Lord of the Rings Movie Trilogy, where Gimli falls off his horse and claims “it was deliberate”. One is also reminded of of Barry Sowetto repeatedly saying “Elections have consequences”.
The thing started falling apart though, when the media broke ranks and started pushing back on the massive hypocrisy displayed in their basic argument of …. ” You should pay no attention to Illinois and Massachusetts and California, with their gerrymandering into one party rule because it’s different when WE do it”.
I truly wonder if they understand the damage being done to their already crippled brand, with what they now claim was simply a PR stunt.
