On Sunday, my family took in a train show at the local fairgrounds. Some of these layouts are downright huge, and some smaller than your hand, as you’ll see. And of course a constant is the kids who show up to dream.
The themes are pretty much universal, and the photography unforgivable. Some of these were taken with my Phone Camera, and some with the Powershot A95. The Powershot is far better with action shots… but that sometimes works to an advantage if action shots are what you’re after, as you’ll see.
Enjoy an afternoon with us.
You need to understand this shot. I suppose I can best describe it to you by saying I could fit two fingers between the rails… and the opposite end of the layout is approximately a football field and a half away.
Here is what is undoubtedly the smallest model train layout I have ever seen. And yes, it was moving.
OK, I admit it; I’m a sucker for an old Mack truck, like this B model.Trains, you see were not all that was there.
In the end, though, the kids were the thing. I guess that in the end I got the biggest kick out of watching them digging what was going on on the layouts. I couldn’t spend all day taking pictures of them, somebody would have figured I was some kind of pervert, and kicked me out. (Sad, that.. I think we’ve lost something, there)
But anyway, so much for a late winter Sunday afternoon.
