… starts getting interesting, that is.
Former Senate Majority Leader Howard Baker (R-Tenn.) is contacting powerbrokers in the Republican Party to build support for a 2008 presidential campaign by his one-time protégé, former Sen. Fred Thompson (R-Tenn.).
Baker, who Wednesday made a visit to the Senate, was asked by several Republicans about his involvement on Thompson’s behalf.
“He said, ‘I am making a few calls and I think it’s a great idea,'” said one Senate Republican who heard Baker discuss his efforts to advance Thompson’s prospects.
…
I said a few weeks back that nobody had caught my interest yet, much less my support. The idea of Thompson running has caught my interest.

Well I do find a idea of President Thompson more appealing than that of President Hagel, I am still less than thrilled. Thompson’s Senate career was maginally more productive than that of Bill Bradley.
Fred looks the part and he acts the part. Yet it not time for Arthur Branch to quit his day job.

Hmmm.
The reason for my interest is simple;
He looks better than anyone the current field of contenders, at the moment.

I had not realized that Thompson has played two prosidents, one fiction and the other Andy “By God” Jackson. That plus generals, admirals and the White House chief of staff. If only acting roles counted as a resume, we’d have a by God great president.

“…I do find [the] idea…more appealing than that of President Hagel,” …or McCain, Clinton, Obama Bin-Laden, et al.
Any reason to believe he’d be ‘any’ worse than the career criminals…er, politicians currently jockeying for the position? We could have the next Cowboy Ronny here.

Given the success this nation had under Ronald Reagan, I’ll take that as the most positive indicator of all.
