The Democrats have been attempting to make a good deal of mileage out of “the surge isn’t working”, and so I have some other people. Meantime, we have held our peace here, waiting for the last troops to be deployed, and for the resulting action. The reason the surge hadn’t been racking up nearly the successes the Democrats would have us believe would be automatic, is that the action incidental to the surge, hadn’t really started yet. Well, now it’s about to.
This campaign is actually a series of carefully orchestrated battalion and brigade sized battles. Collectively, it is probably the largest battle since “major hostilities” ended more than four years ago. Even the media here on the ground do not seem to have sensed its scale.
