Our occasional Chicago correspondent, Jerry Saperstein, sends this along:

I’ve previously expressed my opinion that Biden abandoned Afghanistan so precipitously because he was ordered to.

China is the first nation to recognize the new Taliban government:

“China extended an official welcome to Afghanistan’s new Taliban rulers. “China respects the right of the Afghan people to independently determine their own destiny and is willing to continue to develop … friendly and cooperative relations with Afghanistan,” Chinese foreign ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying was quoted as saying.” (See https://mailchi.mp/67ffb0a853fa/what-happened-today-june-16-809293?e=75badee32c)

During the 1990s Taliban, China was not among the four nations that recognized the Taliban government.

Why is China so quick recognize the Taliban now? Why did Biden move so quickly, without offering adequate explanation to remove all American forces, particularly Air Force assets from the region.

Oh, by way, What has Hunter Biden been doing these days besides creating his $500,000 artworks? Is he perhaps running a side-hustle?

Well, yeah, about that… Say what you will, but the Biden administration appears to have found a way to divert attention away from Hunter Biden, the nursing home deaths, vote fraud and a number of other subjects that Democrats will doubtless find embarrassing.

One thing that Jerry doesn’t mention in this article but I believe he has in the past….Because of the Biden administration’s mishandling of the situation, the Taliban now have more Blackhawk helicopters than most of the Free World. I can’t imagine that China wouldn’t like to get their hands on a few of those. Along with everything else we’ve left behind of course. I will guarantee you that there’s a deal there someplace that’s been made between the Chinese and the Taliban.
