reid.jpgDirty Harry Reid is against spilling of American blood to wage to global war on terror.  Yet Dirty Harry would rather have American motorists die as result of driving a Yugo than to drill for American oil in the Alaskan National Wildlife Refuge.  What kind of pervert places more value on the life of polar bear or moose than an American family?  The Washington Examiner, examines Dirty Harry’s logic, such as it is:

WASHINGTON (Map, News) – Despite Congress’ repeated efforts to repeal the laws of physics in favor of something more politically correct, the fact remains that bigger is safer when it comes to vehicle size. Supporters of increasing Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards ignore what millions of minivan and SUV drivers already know: They stand a much better chance of surviving an accident than drivers of lighter, more fuel-efficient subcompacts. The problem is that significantly improving fuel economy means cutting average vehicle weight.bloodoild.jpg The curb weight of a typical family sedan can be reduced from the present 3,200 pounds to, say, 2,800 pounds. But maintaining the same level of safety with advanced air bags, refined crush zones and other technological fixes could make the lighter family sedan unaffordable for middle-class buyers.

Maybe Dirty Harry and his nutroots don’t give a darn about your family’s life.  Do you?

Don Surber’s take on Dirty Harry, and Mrs. Pelosi, is apt:

Reid’s call for more highway deaths in the name of saving oil is a 1970s answer to a 21st century issue. Liberals are stuck in the ’70s, aren’t they?

Don is right.  The Democrats do want to return to the ‘Seventies.  Ironically, or purposefully, they seem to have forgotten how much misery their pet ideas caused in the ‘Seventies, as I blogged about earlier.

(edit Bit: Added “No blood for oil” graphic. Hey, if it works for THEM, it oughta work for US, right?)
