TRENTON, N.J. — Eleven public officials across New Jersey were arrested Thursday morning as part of a corruption investigation, a law enforcement official said.
Democratic state Assemblymen Mims Hackett Jr. and Alfred E. Steele were among those arrested, along with Passaic Mayor Samuel Rivera. The chief of staff to Newark City Council President Mildred Crump, Keith Reid, was also arrested, the official said.
The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity so as not to upstage a formal announcement.
