David Brooks in the HoustonChronicle the other day asks us to consider Kerry and his special friends

Like Johnny Chung, for example.
Liu Chaoying, for another.
David Paul, for another.

These are all names you should know, particularly when the subject of the Communist Chinese comes up, and special interest money All connected with John Kerry, all dirty, and all very much in play today.

American Daily this morning has a rather nice BIT by JB Williams, you should read.

Party prostitutes like Terry McAuliffe, Nancy Pelosi, and Uncle Teddy have assumed the position of ‘destroyers’ with their carefully designed attacks aimed at bringing Bush approval ratings down to a level where Democrats can compete. In doing so, they rely on the ignorance of the American public, the people’s inability to separate truth from politically motivated fiction, and it works with liberals who only need hear what they want, regardless of the facts.

However, once Bush enters the debate, all of the facts are on Bush’s side. His military record is clean, there are no stained blue dresses lying around, no ‘Chinagate’, no flip flopping on issues. Fact is, Bush has initiated action on over 92% of his 2000 campaign promises, and successfully completed over 46%, verifiable at Campaign Promise Success Rates. Those he has been unable to accomplish, have been blocked by congress, via the only source of power Democrats currently have, the greatly overused filibuster.

It’s worth a read.

For a long while, now I’ve been concerned about Pat Buchanan. I’ve called him right when he was, but in the years since his most recent run for President, I’m afraid that’s become an evermore rare event. Alas, that more frequently he’s been coming up with idiotic nonsense like this, in his column in the March first issue of The American Conservative, called: No End to War:

“But how is our survival as a nation menaced when not one American has died in a terrorist attack on U.S. soil since 9/11?”

Oh, come ON, Pat… you can’t be serious!

Can someone be threatened without dying? Can someone be a threat without, as yet, being a killer?
Buchanan’s finally gone round the bend. His vision for America’s role in the world is isolationistic in nature, and disastrous in it’s end. 9/11 happened because we let down our guard… Oddly, that’s exactly what he’s calling for… More isolationism, more waiting for an enemy to attack.

Apparently in Buchanan’s world, sitting back and waiting is morally justified, an argument no American should accept.

I’ll continue to defend Buchanan as I have, when he’s right. I’m hoping that’s soon.
For the meantime, he’s wrong. Thankfully, he’s not in power, else we’d be DEAD wrong.

Slant: Can someone describe to me how Buchanan’s position here is substantially different from the far left he claims to be fighting?

A lot of folks are running wth this story this morning, including InstaPundit.Com who quotes the LA TIMES…(hardly a bastion of conservative thinking)

“Sen. John F. Kerry sent 28 letters in behalf of a San Diego defense contractor who pleaded guilty last week to illegally funneling campaign contributions to the Massachusetts senator and four other congressmen.

Asked what he did to repay the money, Kerry’s campaign said Wednesday he had donated $13,000 to charity on Feb. 9 which was two days before Majumder’s guilty plea.”

Anyone still think Bush isn’t going to be able to defeat Kerry?

Ann Coulter has a follow-up to last week’s article on Max Cleland:

It is simply a fact that Max Cleland was not injured by enemy fire in Vietnam. He was not in combat, he was not – as Al Hunt claimed – on a reconnaissance mission, and he was not in the battle of Khe Sanh, as many others have implied. He picked up an American grenade on a routine noncombat mission and the grenade exploded.

Cleland’s true heroism came after the war, when he went on to build a productive life for himself. That is a story of inspiration and courage. He shouldn’t let the Democrats tarnish an admirable life by ‘sexing up’ his record in order to better attack George Bush.”

“Multi-millionaire Senator and presidential candidate John Edwards is running a blatant class warfare advertisement in primary states. In the ad he talks about two health care systems, two education systems … ‘one for the haves, and one for everybody else.’  The ad also says we have two tax systems, ‘… where the wealthy and corporations pay less, and working families pay more.’ 

Question: How does he get away with this blatant nonsense?  Answer: Because he knows full well that ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC and the rest of the news networks will not, under any circumstances, give you the same statistics that I just related.  In other words, the Washington and New York press corps will protect his class warfare rhetoric by withholding the truth.”

Zogby reports this morning, somehting you won’t see in the so-caleld mainstream press:

” A new poll conducted by Zogby International for The O’Leary Report and Southern Methodist University’s John Tower Center from February 12-15, 2004 of 1,209 likely voters with a margin of error of +/- 2.8 percentage points found that if the election for president were held today, Democrat John Kerry would edge George W. Bush 46% to 45% in the “blue states” or states won by Al Gore in the 2000 election.  In the “red states,” or states won by George W. Bush in 2000, however, Bush wins handily by a 51% to 39% margin.”
