I just spent the last 30 minutes talking to the director of the Savannah USO. And can I just say WHAT a charming lady she was? She was returning my call from last week in response to a book request I had read on WTOC.com. I have at least 100 books sitting in a box ready to be donated, and I couldn’t think of anyone who needed them more than our military men and women. So she’s going to send someone out to the house this week to pick them up. We ended up talking about the soldiers and I asked her what other items were needed for them. She ran down a little list of things that they need and I’m passing them along to you guys. I think it’s VERY IMPORTANT to support these soldiers in ANY WAY POSSIBLE. She was telling me last week about a group of soldiers who were stuck in a small town in Iraq with nothing but a toothbrush. You wouldn’t believe how much they valued that toothbrush. The same goes for deodorant. I can’t imagine not having deodorant to wear in a hot, humid environment.
