Gilligan Resigns From the BBC

Gilligan Resigns:

“I am today resigning from the BBC. I and everyone else involved here have for five months admitted the mistakes we made. We deserved criticism. Some of my story was wrong, as I admitted at the inquiry, and I again apologise for it. My departure is at my own initiative. But the BBC collectively has been the victim of a grave injustice.

If Lord Hutton had fairly considered the evidence he heard, he would have concluded that most of my story was right.”

Oh, so it’s unfair, is it?

Tell me, Andrew; can you name one criminal who won’t claim he was framed?

And you ARE criminal. Don’t whine too loud, and perhaps nobody will notice that as a direct result of *your* actions, someone DIED. To say nothing if the many people at the BBC and other orgs you editorially crippled.

You’ll live with that, by claiming it wasn’t your fault?

Right-Thinking has a post up this morning that should shock nobody:

The NYT is reporting:

“LOS ANGELES, Jan. 29 Pixar Animation Studios, which produced last summer’s popular ‘Finding Nemo,’ said on Thursday that it was ending talks on continuing its 12-year partnership with the Walt Disney Company and would seek another studio to distribute its films, beginning in 2006.”

This is groundshaking in Mouse terms.

Face it; Movie wise, Pixar has been the only real outlet for Disney’s animated wares for some time. Some of the non-Pixar CA stuff they’ve turned out of late just didn’t make it… “The Winnie The Pooh Movie” as an example. The animation was simply awful; even the kids watching it said as much.  I can’t imagine the Mouse competeing against Pixar toe to toe, and coming away with much of anything.

Matter of time, now before Eisner is gone.

Duck Season’s Hei Lun has a point not many Democrats are willing to address:

“So Dean is suspending payments to his staff for two weeks because the campaign has money troubles. But hasn’t he raised more money than anyone? How are we supposed to believe he can balance the budget when he can’t balance his campaign budget? “

The Palm Beach Post is reporting:

“WEST PALM BEACH — The Florida Attorney General’s Office and the Florida Bar — the two most powerful legal organizations in the state — said Palm Beach County prosecutors misrepresented their advice in order to release confidential plea negotiations in the Rush Limbaugh investigation.
Both organizations said they felt they were used by State Attorney Barry Krischer”

Now why would he do that, I wonder?

We’re concerned that once the story became public, Mr. Krischer, an elected prosecutor, may have been pressured to use extraordinary tactics and resources to punish Rush for his viewpoints.”

It’s not hard to pick this stuff up; Why is the mainstream press ignoring it, I wonder?

You know why.

The Guardian is now reporting that Greg Dyke has resigned, in the wake of the Hutton report. Says Dyke:

“With the departure of Gavyn Davies and myself and the apology I issued on behalf of the BBC yesterday I hope that a line can now be drawn under this whole episode.

“Throughout this whole affair, my sole aim as director general of the BBC has been to defend our editorial independence and to act in the public interest.”

Trouble is, the BBC’s hardly been independant. Rather, they’ve been walking hand in hand with the far left… in short abusing the editorial freedom they were given. That editorial freedom is now in stark oppoition to the public interest.

If you need proof of this point, consider that no real change is happening in the trenches.Example: there’s the matter of Gilligan still working there. Sorry. Until Gilligan is gone the BBC remains tainted.

Reuters is reporting today:

SOFIA, Bulgaria (Reuters) – Iraqi foreign minister Hoshiyar Zebari said Thursday Saddam Hussein’s weapons of mass destruction had been carefully hidden, but he was confident they could be discovered.

‘I have every belief that some of these weapons could be found as we move forward,’ Zebari, an Iraqi Kurd, told a news conference in Sofia. ‘They have been hidden in certain areas. The system of hiding was very sophisticated.’”

In short, keep looking, guys… they’re there.

THey point up two letters from John Kerry to the same person, sent a few days apart, back in 1991.

“Thank you for contacting me to express your opposition … to the early use of military force by the US against Iraq. I share your concerns. On January 11, I voted in favor of a resolution that would have insisted that economic sanctions be given more time to work and against a resolution giving the president the immediate authority to go to war.’

AP reports:

Someone lifted a 170-pound bronze statue of Yoda, the “Star Wars” Jedi master.

The theft from a flatbed truck was reported to police last weekend and artist Lawrence Noble, 55, of Crestline has offered a $1,000 reward for its return. The limited-edition bronze is worth up to $20,000.

Perhaps Ross Perot is looking for work, and can fill in for the statue?

Speaking of Taegan Goddard’s Political Wire, he’s found an interesting quote from Howard “Duck” Dean after blowing out Joe Tripi yesterday.

(Oops… perhaps given recent Democrat party history, we should say ‘pink slipping’. No, that doesn’t work either. Oh, well)

Yep, he’s a Democrat, all right. Your project falls apart because people don’t like your ideas. What do you do? Claim it was a tructural problem in your org, and move to concentrate power.

Interesting tidbit on the Political Wire this morning. Goddard notes that Robert Reich in his NYT write-up today, is using Lieberman’s losing in NH to sell his book. Claims Reich:

“The fight among Democrats is between those who want only to win back the White House and those who want to build a much-needed new political movement.’ “

Pretty typical for Reich; he’s always been a spinmaster. He’s simply trying to spin this off.
What he doesn’t seem to want to admit, and it seem likely he doesn’t understand… that both sides of the fight he names, are well too far left of center for the American voter.

It’s hard for me to decide which of the groups Riech names is more dangerous; the idiot who actually beleives what the left pukes up to be better for America… or the person who doesn’t care what’s better for America, and only wants victory for his side.

I leveled two blasts at Kerry in two days, both or which are maming the rounds of the net.
Ann Coulter makes a better one::
