80th Wedding Anniversary Husband Dies

You may recall I made mention last week of a couple who had been maried 80 years..

Sad news today from the wirse, that the male half of this couple has just died… two weeks after the anniversary.

Boing Boing has some details.

Yeah, I know… bad pic. Well, (shrug) it’s fast, anyway.

You know, I still have a few of the cheat books on that one. Earned a lot of beer with those books. I also have a wrist that looks a bit deformed. (Snort!)

What I found amazing is how well the cheat books worked with later emulations of the game that ran on the PC I’d found over the years. I must assume that they were using the same code.

Which, of course, is a lot of chatter about somehting that quite simply doesn’t exist.

The culture of death this morning is having a party, based on the autopsy of Terri Shaivo, screaming that they were right all along. Well, personally, I never put a lot of weight on the autopsy. Look though this blog, and you may notice a lack of comments on it, till now. There’s a reason for that.

Why? Think; Who was the autopsy to be done by? Doctors…. who are less than likely to make pronouncements that will cause one of their own, problems.

Well, let’s cut to the chase, here; How do we know? How do we know she’d not have gotten any better?

Yes, it’s true enough that about half the woman’s brain capacity was gone. But was that ever in dispute?

However, one thing nobody’s mentioned in all these reports on the autopsy, is that we humans only use about 10% of our mental capacity. The really smart ones among us, perhaps 12%. Do the math.

We’re also told by the autopsy report that the woman was blind.  “So much for what Terry’s parents said”, is the claim from the death camps, “about her following the balloon around the room”. Well, now who are you going to trust? This report, or your lyin’ eyes? Remember, we have this stuff on TAPE, friends. Funny how they say nothing about that.

Look; as Don Herbert’s recovery after 10 years of being worse than Terri has clearly demonstrated, the doctors, including the ones at the ME’s office really don’t know the extent of the damage to her ability. And those words are perhaps the hardest ones for anyone, particularly a professional, to admit… Particularly on a public document.

But you know what? I don’t know, either.
And, neither do you.

The difference is, I’ll admit it because I don’t have an ego tied to this issue to bruise… and I don’t have millions of dollars hanging on the report being discussed.

And by the way… while I have this one open, allow me to suggest we have another such case on our hands, currently.

I think we now have on record, an example of what is it for a Senator’s comments to go over the line far enough to where the Senator is actually in support of the enemy.This one.

Mr. Durbin, I have a news flash for you. You’re supporting the enmies of America. It’s that cut and dried.

Been kind of a weird day, and I’ve had some time to think about this one.
Several points:

First, this bit by Durbin goes to my statement about How-Weird Dean being perfect representation for the Democratic Party…. that the actualy think the way How-Weird talks. This is further exemplified by nobody from his party barking him down.

Secondly, Durbin should resign from office. Barring that, his district should start making noises about removing him from office.

Thirdly, his statements after that bit in the committee meeting the other day, were even worse, as far as I’m concerned.

Fourth, the tactics as he mentions in his tirade did get us the info we needed to keep our soldiers and our civilians safer.  There is only one conclusion as to why he would ignore this point; Losing this ability is his desire.

Clearly, this case is one of ‘Dress Down Fridays’ run amok.

Kind of a slow news day. So, I toss caution to the wind….

Jeff Quinton got his pinger working… a bit of news that will excite women everywhere, until they figure out what he’s talking about.

A fellow Blogspotter, Don Surber (Whose blog really should be on your list) points out today that of the voices raised in apology for lynching, the one voice who you’d thikn would have more to say on the subject than any other, was silent… Robert KKK Byrd. Says Don:

The Conscience of the Senate was a no-show when the Senate finally apologized for being an accessory to murder. The protector of the Right to Filibuster was silent when the filibuster's darkest days were acknowledged. The Grand Kleagle of the Raleigh Kounty Klavern was ignored when his organization's favorite tool of terrorism was denounced.

Much as I question the value of such manuvers on the whole, the same way I question ‘reparations” there’s a couple lessons here, it seems to me:

It took a Republican majoruty to even consider such a bill… and a positon most leftists and civil rights groups would support; The Democrats didn’t do this.

Secondly, If a Republican were doing the silent number, do you think the race war lords like Jesse Jackson wouldn’t be screaming like Howard Dean clones about it?

Update: Captain Ed puts a somewhat finer spin on it, wondering who will issue the apoligies for the Fillibuster? Ed points out that the Fillibuster was used to keep the Federal Government from acting on the issue.

Gee… this has a rather catchy ring to it… amlost like I’ve heard it before…. somewhere…

FOXNews quotes Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid as complaining:

"We have spent two months — two months — dealing with basically five judges, all of whom have jobs,"

Hey, Harry: I’ve got a news flash for ya:

YOU are the one creating the bottleneck, here…. and the remainder of the Democrats, of course. You’re doing exactly what you said you wouldn’t do; Play obstructionist.
Allow the votes to go to the floor and the whole problem disappears.

But you won’t do that, will you?
Well, the voters will have their say, soon enough. The Democrats will lose even more seats.
At which point you may actually get the message.

But I doubt it.

Power Line, Bulldog Pundit Captain Ed, Ace, and Q&O have all come out strongly against the content of the book being otuted by Ed Klein, which makes, by all the second and third hand accounts, some serious charges against Hillary Clinton.

Guys, look, OK?
It would perhaps be helpful to actually have READ the book in question.

Understand me clearly, I’m not defending the book, or dising it either, simply because I’ve not read it yet. Then again, neither has anyone else, including yourselves.

Sensational charges? Certainly.

Unsupported? well, let’s be logical, here…. How does one know, until one actually reads the book?

And just as logically… Of course Clintonites are going to deny the story, regardless of the origins. So, that’s no judgement.

And think about this…It’s to Clinton’s advantage to sneak an advance of such a story out and deny it, no? Reverse psychology flacking for the forthcoming run.

Let’s be honest enough to say, that there’s a lot going on here we don’t know about… which is usually the case where this woman is involved.

I’m only advising that… I’m only saying that we should hold off on the necktie party, until that requirement is filled. I will jump on with both feet on this story, one way on the other at that point. If the chatrge is unsupported, and the actual release of it is not done by Hillary supporters, I’ll happily join the lynch mob.

Meanwhile, I’ll sit back and wait.

The stars must be alligned correctly. Lots of weird stuff in this morning’s mail, a lot of it laughable one liners. There’s no way I’m letting these by without passing at least some of them on…

So, they found Jackson not guilty? Yeah, big shock. While some will complain that he was exonerated by his fame, I don’t think that was the only factor at work, here.

I stand my my comments from last November, when this merry go-round started.

Boortz had something to say about all this too, back then, and his thoughts in this post turned up true.

There’s a number of folks who won’t like the outcome, here. But you really need to wonder what the motivation is for some. Yes, I’m sure there are some who think the charges against him are true, regardless of a jury’s ruling on the matter.

Which leads me to one thing that interests me here; the financial fallout;

Sneddon will retiire on a government pension plus his own savings from a salary that most Americas would envy.

Jackson, meanwhile, is, by virtue of his own excesses, worse than broke, and will need to raise funds. I suppose and expect his ability to do so to be somewhat restricted following the nature of this trial, regardless of the “Not Guilty” outcome.
