Budget Shortfalls Threaten Routine Programs of the National Weather Service (Yawn)

The Dallas Morning news is wailing about the NWS losing it’s funding.

Why is this agency still drawing tax money out of our pockets? Is htere anything this agency does which is not being done better by private concerns, such as local and regional broadcasters, the Weather Channel and so on?

… is the time to remember HR25, called the Fair Tax.Neal Boortz addresses this one… it’s an idea whose time has come.

Well, now Sanders has come back all bent out of shape that he’s being held to the same standards he champions in the case of Republican Tom Delay.Bennington Banner puts it this way:

The way Rep. Sanders has reacted to the revelatons, we think, indicates that he realizes how the situation looks. He claims the story was a lie, although the information came from public government records and was confirmed by his own staff, and he does not refute any of the facts in our report.

….

If Rep. Sanders believes the payments are on the up and up, a completely acceptable practice, he should come out and say so, instead of threatening not to speak with the media.

Ouch.
Add that to the list of leftists who are learning about Glass Houses.

Now, look, Bernie and the rest of you; If you think what Delay is doing is so wrong, then change the law. But now apparently we know why you’re unwilling to do that.

And we also know what your attacks on Delay really are: Pure Political opportunism.

If one reads Robin Givhan’s latest tirade in theWaPo, one might get the idea that John Bolton’s biggest threat is what he wears. Mzzzzz Givhan, is apparently unable to come up with anything more substansive to object to about Bolton that people won’t identify as rank leftist partisanship for which the WaPO is so rightly known. So, she bleats out this, instead;

…when he settled in before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee this week to answer questions about his record, his philosophy and his intentions at the U.N., he looked as though he did not even have enough respect for the proceedings to bother combing his hair — or, for that matter, straightening his tie, or wearing a shirt that did not put his neck in a chokehold. Bolton was one wrinkled suit away from being an insolent mess.

There’s a few paragraphs more, but I won’t bother. This is clearly someone operating from the “He’s been appointed by a Republican, and I don’t like him. Now, what can I object to about him” mentality. If this is all she can come up with Bolton’s got this wrapped up.

And, Mzzzzz Givhan needs a trip to the unemployment office.

Afterthought:
Could it be that the real issue here is that the Democrat leadership, so desperate to keep Bolton from being confirmed, hasn’t come up with anything even arguably substantial… and that as a result Mzzzzz Givhan is operating without talking points?

Well, looks like the Democrats have stepped on their own (Blank) in going after Tom Delay. The story is leaking out all over the sephere this morning… that Harry Reid has a number of his family working for him. So do a number of other Democrats… and for similar per- annum dollar figures. NewsMax reports that:

Nevada Democrat once sponsored an environmental bill that he touted as a bipartisan measure to protect the ecosystem and help the economy in America’s fastest-growing state.

But as the LA Times reported: “What Reid did not explain was that the bill promised a cavalcade of benefits to real estate developers, corporations and local institutions that were paying hundreds of thousands of dollars in lobbying fees to his sons’ and son-in-law’s firms, federal lobbyist reports show.”

Little GReen Footballsl reports on a strange situation with Reuters. apparently they reported twin bus bombings in Israel, with 16 deaths. Alas, nothing unusual about this.

Trouble is, it didn’t happen.

John McCain is a great American, and his heroic service to our country should be respected, indeed, revered. But his endless movement to the left should finally disqualify him from any claim to being a “Reagan Republican”.

Indeed, my view is it should disqualify him from being a Republican at all.

Democrats have done poorly enough in elections over the past dozen years that their power now rests mainly with unelected judges and unelected bureaucrats. Maybe that’s why they’ve been getting so upset when these folks receive criticism.

This move would seem to give some credence to the Forbes Mag report of last November:

Back when Grok was clan leader, I used to be a DJ… both on radio and in a mobile environment. Over the years, I played perhaps 1100 parties of one sort or another… usually weddings. In those days, we were still using records.. and a few of the more enlightened were using a lot of mag tape … and schleping a few hundred of those along with the heavy amplification and processing gear, ( used a Crown D-150 which I still own) and a double set of speakers. All this stuff started getting HEAVY after a while…. I actually messed up a set of springs in my car doing this, not to mention my back.

Numark’s latest invention is making my back hurt all the more. Forget the records… forget the CD’s.(And the CD drives, for that matter) Bring a couple IPOD’s and this board…along with your amp stack… which of coursethey’re also making smaller…and you’re there.

Peter is smart and I like him but he said something I just found weird. He said that Bolton should be disqualified because he had been “disloyal to his subordinates.”

Is there something I’ve missed in my reading of Peter Drucker and other management gurus? Since when is the goal to demonstrate loyalty to subordinates? Shouldn’t the goal be for subordinates to show loyalty to those they’re supposed to be working for?

OK, look, I know the left has been passing stories abut the man chewing out subordinates with some frequency. They’re doing everything they can to defeat the man…and I guess some weird statements are going to come out of that efort…But being disloyal to them? Oh, please…. I mean, we’re reaching here just a bit, nu?

What Cliff was witness to, is a decidedly socialist tilt of Beinart, of course, but of the Europian mentality, as well, wich I suspect Peter Beinart of playing to, in that case. Clearly, there is a completely different mindset at work, where employers are the underlings and the employees are the ones who need loyalty.

Of course, as May points up, this is the same mindset that figures President Bush should only put people into his cabinet that disagree with him and his policy, so I supose that should be a clue, to their thought process as well.

Personally, I have tended to dsmiss such nonsense as political positioning. But I’ve finally come to the conclusion these idiots realy think this way. I’m not sure I want to be driving on hte same highway as someone quite so diconnected from reality.

That diconnect didn’t stop them from voting for Kerry last cycle, though.
