hillarysm.jpgMrs. Clinton’s theory of winning the presidency based her sex took a hit when French voters rejected socialist Ségolène Royal.   David Bouder reports on another hit to Mrs. Clinton’s theory:

NEW YORK (AP) – It surely wasn’t what CBS dreamed about when Katie Couric was hired: the “CBS Evening News” last week recorded its smallest audience since and probably many years before that.

Then unlike Mrs. Clinton, Couric at least has a personality.   Will Mark Penn attempt to spin this one as well?

One Response to “Perils for Mrs. Clinton From This Side Fo the Pond”

  1. Well, here again, we come down to what I said last night as regards the Music industry. The medium ins’t the issue. It’s the message. \In the case of CBS, the product has been under the standards of most Americans since before crazy Walter left.

In fairness, mainstream news viewership has been dropping since that time, so the best anyone can do is a holding action. But Perky Katie ain’t gettin it done, her perky demenor not withstanding.

Some of that, in the curent situation belongs directly to Couric. But there’s a reason why she was hired; She fit into what was already in place at CBS. Was, in fact, a better fit with the way of non-thinking displayed by the leadership at CBS news than was, say, Bob Sheaffer.

Which to my mind serves as a decent enough guage of how far out of touch with the American people, CBS news really is.
