• Michelle Malkin, one of my favorite reads, notes that mental midget Ted Rall never changes. She also notes how we can help the Linnik family. that’s the family of the twelve year old girl killed by the illegal alien on July 4.  The latter of the two, needs your help.  The former, I fear, is beyond help.
  • James Joyner notes that the film “The Princess Bride” is now twenty years old.  As he says, “inconceivable!”
  • I wonder if that’s a fact that Captain Ed knew, when he posted an interesting article on Usama BinLaden, called “Maybe he’s only MOSTLY dead”.
  • I see where North Korea has shut down its nuclear reactor at Yongbyon, after a few years of fruitless negotiations.  Of course, the U.N. is loving this as a major accomplishment.  What they don’t mention very loudly is that the reactor was shut down only after a delivery of 6000 tons of fuel oil, and a lot of back and forth over $25 million of blocked bank accounts… accounts that were involved in money laundering, and counterfeiting.  The question now becomes, now that the thing is been shut down, do we actually dismantle it?  I tend to doubt the united nations as thought quite so far ahead.  As a result, the next time North Korea finds itself short of fuel oil were cash, they’ll simply restart , and start the negotiation process all over again.  I would say that North Korea has this blackmail thing down pretty well; except for the idea that the U.N. actually has it working better.
  • Noted on Riehl World View: a video on our progress in Iraq…. the story the Democrats, and their pals in the MSM, won’t tell you. I would say that what we’re seeing constitutes some serious progress.  And I wonder if the Democrats are going to admit to this.  I rather tend to doubt it.  It’s interesting; the Democrats have been basically ignoring the idea of the number of territories that the Iraqis have been taking the lead on into care 80, since the search began.  They have instead, tended to focus on the level of violence in the whole of Iraq. I will get into an extended version of this discussion later this week.  But, quickly; at Democrat insistence, we’ve been turning over large areas of the country to Iraqi control.  The people who we are turning this control over two have been quickly gathered and hastily trained, and as such have slightly different methods for controlling such violence.  How the Democrats could now expect anything different than what we’re seeing, given the increased rate of turnover of responsibility to the Iraqis, is the question I think they’d rather not address.
  • I have said often enough in these spaces, that the fastest way to destroy a culture, is to stop teaching the young people of that culture, its history.  It is from our history, from which our values rise.  I have also said often enough, that government schools are largely responsible for what failures have occurred in this area.  I have suggested that this is an intentional move on the part of our government schools.  So imagine if you will, my lack of surprise when I see the British government exemplifying my comments. There is, I fear, only one possible outcome from this omission that’s being called for by the British schools.
  • Speaking of all that, the Brits are not alone, here. Boortz‘s Friday column, which I finally got round to reading this morning, contains an example of this kinda thing here in the US. Are you aware that in Brooklyn, there is a government paid for, all Muslim school?  The principal there is someone CAIR… a terrorist organization, calls a friend…  The outrage of using our own funds to preach against us, by government force, aside… what of segregation, and where is the argument of separation of church and state?
  • William Kristol makes the point today that we’re not involved in a Civil war in Iraq. Know what?  He’s quite correct. His point is simple to prove; the number of external players from Iran, Syria, north Africa, and so on.  A civil war, is by definition, an internal struggle only.  It does not involve outside players. Any questions, Class?
