This is post 7100. That’s right, 7100 posts, officially, since BitsBlog started. Even GZipped, it comes out around 300mb. A lot of writing, these past 6 and a half years. OK, let’s get to it.
- It amazes me, Billy, how often someone in the remote family has to die before we get news of the family still with us. Perhaps discussing such matters is our way of saying to each other that life continues, despite the loss?
- Is anyone surprised, really, that O.J. Simpson was rearrested ? I guess the only thing that surprised me was nobody got killed in the process. You know, the idea occurs, Britney Spears has been such a boil on the butt of the culture of late… what say we set her up with OJ, and solve BOTH problems?
- As I suggested, Michael Mukasey will now be nominated to the attorney general slot, he hasn’t been already by the time this makes it to the front page. I suppose he seems reasonable, but I can’t get over the idea that Charles Schumer approves of him. Schumer is one of the most reprehensible people in politics today. He’s possibly one of the few people that smells worse than Hillary Clinton, metaphorically. On that basis anything he approves of is immediately suspect. On the other hand, and Morrissey is running a post right now that suggests that Chuckles has begun a retreat from his support for Mukasey. Says Ed: “Bush has managed to strip Schumer of his last pretenses of fairness and honesty, and the Alliance for Justice may be next. Uncle Chuck couldn’t give a fig for “consensus”. He used Mukasey as a club to beat Bush two years ago, and Nan Aron of AJ jumped on the bandwagon. Schumer just had his bluff called, and one can expect that the confirmation hearings will feature several Republican committee members read into the record over and over again Schumer’s endorsement of Mukasey for the lifetime appointment.” When the press came out making a lot of noise about how Schumer had supported Mukasey, I must admit I questioned Mr. Bush’s sanity. I am still cautious, but I must admit it’s possible I underestimated Mr. Bush.
- Speaking of the wicked witch of western Arkansas, I see she has a plan afoot to spend $110,000,000,000.00, supposedly, on a universal health care plan. Incidental to that discussion, comes word that Hillarycare as proposed during her erstwhile husband’s occupancy of the White House was not at all her idea. She didn’t author it, she does not understand it, Her sole job was to SELL the thing. This strikes me as the left, as usual, attempting to have it both ways. Well, I suppose that doesn’t matter, now, because either she was lying then, or she’s lying now. And let me refresh your memory, just a little; it was in fact government health care that caused the Democrats to lose both houses of Congress. How does she plan on making it more palatable this time? Simple; One by constructing it in bits and pieces, instead of the whole enchilada. But let me tell you about that hundred and $110 billion… The figure is a lie. She knows it’s a lie. I am quite sure that both David and myself are going to be discussing this going forward. This is, after all, an election year. But remember this, above all else; she’s lying. Just as an example, she tells us in the article that are linked, that “this is not government run health care.” But then we see back on September 3 at the AARP legislative conference where she says “When I’m president privatization is off the table because it’s not the answer to anything “. Do we still won a trust this woman with the white house?
- What’s this I see about Israel, foiling attempts to the Syrians to construct nuclear weaponry, based on material shipped from North Korea? Look…the same rule we established for Charles Schumer, apparently, is in need of being established when dealing with middle eastern countries, or communist countries, such as North Korea. If they’re doing it willingly, it’s because it’s to their advantage, for reasons you don’t understand yet.
- The BitsBlog site continues along its merry way, without incident over the weekend. My head counters are reflecting some traffic from the place where the attack of last week and originate it from, but no ill effects. I will assume the patch is sufficient to at least that attack, for the moment.
- I see ambassador Alan Keyes says he’s running for president. I see David has already made mention of it. Frankly, I was reluctant to make mention of it myself, because the amount of political impact that’s going to have on the race is a whole, probably amounts to fly squeeze. The only outstanding question on the whole deal, is why he’s bothering. I guess he’s looking for some kind of a political appointment to some office in the service of whoever it is that does win the presidency.
