Since this news came out that Hillary Clinton supposedly has some dirt to throw at Barack Obama, the apologists for the Clinton campaign have been coming out in force.  No surprise then one of the to find the chief chief apologists, Marc Armbinder playing the part of Don Quixote to every shadow that comes along, defending his rather twisted version of Dulcinea:

Why does it seem that Republican columnists have better sources among Democrats than everyone else?

Here’s John Fund, writing in today’s OpinionJournal.com:

The murmured charge is that as an Illinois state senator, Mr. Obama engaged in a real estate deal that benefited him in exchange for legislative favors. In short, what might pass for standard operating procedure in the Illinois legislature could nonetheless prove embarrassing to someone campaigning as a paragon of political virtue for president. So far, however, no proof of the allegation has been presented.

Pretty thin stuff.  And haven’t we heard the Tony Rezko tale already?

Well, Marc, in answer to your first question the Republican columnists have better sources among Democrats than anybody else, for one simple reason; why on earth would you allow yourself to be caught by your fellow Democrats was spreading dirt?  Why not set it up in such a way to get blame the attack on the Republicans?

As to the second question, yes indeed we have heard that particular tale previously.  However, since when does a rumor have to be an original one, particularly when you let slip that you hadn’t planned on making use of the rumor in the first place? Clearly, this thing was designed witha slight twist to the lesson the Clintons learned a few years ago… it’s not the wrongdoing, it’s the idea that something got covered up.

At least this particular rumor has the distinct advantage of having been ignored the first time around.

In the meantime, trust me… That particular lady has no honor to defend…and after watching her operate for eight years, I doubt there’s many Americans left to who are willing to succumb to the illusion that she does.
