Hamlin, 19 Dec 2008, by Steve Piotter This is some of  what hit us yesterday  and we have  got another storm due in Sunday.   Hamlin (Where this pic was taken)  has a nice state park.   I’ve hiked and skied it and Bit may have camped there.

Hat tip:   13WHAM; article, picture.

Addendum:(Bit) I sure have camped there… several times, over the years. IN fact, it was the place we took our big rig too, on the first trip out of the barn with it, years ago.

What you see in the pic is pretty well typical of the whole area, yesterday.  Myself, I came up Lake Road from the east side, across Irondiquoit Bay and through Durand Eastman park, all of it right along the lake shore… which is pretty much the situation in the pic you see here.

Now the new storm they’re talking about features 50mph winds, so all this snow will be blowing around.  Let’s see.. up to our pipiks in snow, and being taxed to death. What’s not to love?

  1. Storms like this “build character”, don’t they?  At least that was would dad would say to me and my brother as he handed the snow shovels to us. (Way before snowblowers were ever an option.) We got seven to eight inches from the same storm.  And about an inch today, with at least one more burst before Christmas.

Speaking of Christmas, hope you and yours have a Merry Christmas and the Happiest of New Years.

  2. Comments.

Storms don’t build character, parents do.

Hiking yesterday, it struck that the storm was good chance for the men to break out their boy toys.  Is ther anything more male than a snow blower?

The storm was not bad, if you were not driving it in.  I wasn’t.

Every place has some form of weather problem.  With Rochester it is snow.

Rochester has a lot of snow plows per capita.  The state plowsl the cuunty plows.  The city plow.  The towns plows.  And we hundreds of pivate contractors who plow.  Bottom line, when it snows in Rochesterr, a lot plows hit the orad.

  3. Same to you and yours, Guy.

  4. Thanks…it should be a quiet Christmas this year…coal doesn’t make that much noise.

I think we are in agreement here.  My “builds character” question was more rhetorical in nature. Whining kid(s), parent with a dash o smart ass.  Works every time.

  5. Guy, there is some Mark Twain quote about how much smarter his father got between the time Twain turned twenty to age thirty.

As for being a wise ass, I should be the last to criticize anybody on that particular score.
