NBC News just fired their biggest star Matt Lauer, from Variety:

The employee met with human resources at NBC on Monday night. In a statement, NBC News Chairman Andy Lack called this the first complaint about his behavior in over 20 years and acknowledged that it may not be the last: “We were also presented with reason to believe that this may not have been an isolated incident,” Lack said.

How to square the circle. NBC avers that they fired Laurer after only one complaint, but allege a pattern of behavior. So how does one establish a pattern of behavior from a single incident? Film at Eleven. I have a theory. While NBC only had one complaint on record, they darned well knew about the pattern of Laurer’s behavior.

We take the Way Back Machine to 2012, from Fox News:

Couric, who co-hosted the NBC morning show for nine years, appeared on Andy Cohen’s “Watch What Happens Live” in 2012 and participated in a segment called “Plead the Fifth.” The segment, which TMZ posted on Wednesday, showed Cohen asking the anchor what was Lauer’s “most annoying habit.”

[…]

“He pinches me on the ass a lot,” Couric responded after taking a brief pause.

Video:

It seems evident that Couric did not file a complaint against Lauer.   On the other hand, she sure seemed to enjoy the recollection.
