….I’d have never known the Oscars were happening.
Look I couldn’t possibly care less about who slapped who at the Oscars…. Mostly because I couldn’t possibly care less about the Oscars in the first place.
Hollywood hasn’t made a movie I’d be interested in seeing in the last 10 years anyway. So why would I want to sit through a 3-hour long leftist virtue signaling session, disguised as an awards ceremony when I’m not in the least interested in who’s winning the awards for movies I wasn’t interested in in the first place?
As to the slapping incident, my wife made mention of not liking insult comics, and brought the name of Don Rickles into the mix. I think that’s probably a flawed comparison. Rickles, whatever else you can say about him, you always knew the insults weren’t genuine. It’s unclear to me that that point can be applied to this situation.
Was it staged? I don’t know. Not that I care that much, but it wouldn’t surprise me if it was. Hollywood understands very well that fewer and fewer people are caring about
Iss output and even fewer about its supposed award ceremonies. If Hollywood wanted to redirect America’s attention, they could apparently picked a better way of doing it.
I’ll bet there are eight of Australians way out in the outback, beyond the reach of any broadcast television or radio who are arguing about the incident around their council fires at night, unlikely as that sounds.
They’ve even got me devoting space on the blog to hollywood, and that’s even less likely.
The only other thing I can say to that is it’s a darn good thing that rock wasn’t making fun of Alec Baldwin’s wife.
