Right now, most of you have heard of the wildfires in Canada, but you may not be aware of the scope of the problem. According to reports I’m seeing Canada is basically on fire Coast to Coast with 400 separate incidents going on simultaneously. Already, I’m suspicious. Is it just me or do you find it strange that this is only happening in Canada?

Rochester New York this morning, with the imported Canadian smoke

In any event, if you’re living anywhere in the Northeast you are fully aware of it’s consequences in air quality.

What interests me is the remarkable silence from the climate change activists. I’ve been just waiting for one of them to pop off about how the whole thing is our fault because climate change, fossil fuels, etc. etc. Ad nauseum.

But it hasn’t happened. They’ve been keeping their silence, rather like a bunch of school kids nervously looking about the classroom while the teacher figures out who it was the tossed that water balloon.

The same view, about a week earlier

There’s a reason for this unusual silence, of course. As we have begun to get our mental arms around the scale of this thing, there is a realization that the man made climate change they’ve been trying to sell us for a century, simply isn’t selling with the Smoky skies provided by mother nature (without any help from man) as a backdrop.

It’s not easy to argue that man is going to end the planet while nature is single handedly providing an occurrence that has broader consequences than anything that man has ever done, or ever will do.

So, the church of Saint Greta has been holding its silence, at least temporarily, while we wait for the first group of mental midgets to start pointing their fingers at they massive fires up in the great white North, and claim that it’s all because of man-made climate change.

But frankly I doubt they’re going to be able to sell that argument with the evidence in our eyes and in our noses.
