MoveOn.org’s Mailing Lists Available on Google

News.com is reporting:

A Web page misconfiguration left dozens of the liberal political group’s subscriber pages easily searchable through simple Google queries. Each page included a subscriber’s name, e-mail address and the mailing lists to which he or she is subscribed. CNET News.com confirmed that several related searches turned up more than two dozen individual subscriber pages.

“This is extremely disturbing,” said one subscriber, when contacted through e-mail. The subscriber asked that his or her name not be used. “I’m not sure if I should be worried or not, but I am,” the person said

Now, why would that be a problem for them?

Oh, I see.

Their beliefs don’t stand up to public scrutiny. Those that have advocated, shall we say, certain activities while expressing their hate, don’t like it when people know who they are. People like, say, the cops. Or, friends. Or employers.

Too bad. No sympathy here.
Look up and to the right, and you may notice my name.
If you hold an opinion, have the courage to stand behind it.
Publicly.

And no, there are no freedom of speech issues here.

I’ve said it before… and he’s even got me quoted as saying it, but this kind of article is WHY I said it… “Everything I know is wrong is an encouraging site.”

If you think Kerry was screaming before….

* John Kerry complains that the Swiftees are… “funded by hundreds of thousands of dollars from a Republican contributor out of Texas.”  well, at least he’s American, John. Isn’t MoveOn funded by millions donated by a Hungarian Socialist?

* What on earth caused the Democrat party… the anti-war party, the party of Draft-Doger Bill Clinton, to allow so much of it’s candidate’s chances for office, to hinge on his military experience? Simple; Kerry’s got nothing else to run on. I issue the challange yet again; can anyone point me to any significant accomplishments Kerry has had while in office?

*How is it that the hundreds of swiftes who oppose Kerry, have less credibility in the eyes of the press than do the handful to stump for him?

So, Kerry’s in trouble because a book comes out with some rather uncomfortable truths. How does the Leftist respond? Like another infamous socialist… with calls for what amounts to a book burning.
Says SALON:

“The Kerry campaign has told Salon that the publisher of “Unfit for Command,” the book that is at the center of the attack on Kerry’s military record by the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, is retailing a hoax and should consider withdrawing it from bookstores. “No publisher should want to be selling books with proven falsehoods in them, especially falsehoods that are meant to smear the military service of an American veteran,” said Kerry campaign spokesman Chad Clanton. “If I were them, I’d be ducking under my desk wondering what to do. This is a serious problem.”

The one Ducking is John Kerry.  The proven Falsehoods are Kerry’s. And Kerry’s getting very frightened, indeed, to attempt a stunt like this.

Unfit for Command, Chapter Four is here

OTB makes note of the screaming coming from Tom Hayden, who is calling for 1960’s style protests at the RNC.

At the same time, we see the Hollywood left stumping for their boy… well, at least they’re complaining about Bush. Rondstadt, Goldberg, Springsteen, Danny Glover, Melencamp, and now Bonnie Raait (who until last week, I actually had a little respect for…. sad). And now, Sheryl Crow shows up in my mailbox just this morning.

I find the situation remarkably similar to the 1968 Democratic Convention in Chicago… which it should be pointed out, Hayden was involved with, as well.

Let’s recall the situation in 68.

A quick look at the Stars showing up at the 1968 convention to perform and cheer on Humphrey included Tommy James, pictured at left.. who at the time were seeing some serious record sale and concert success.

James and his band, in fact, spent three months on the road with Humphrey, prior to the convention.

Don’t mistake the support shown Humphrey at the time as a genuine support for the man, himself. It’s not that the entertainers, nor the extremists, for that matter were all that happy with Humphrey at all…. His attempts to come off as “hip” were lame even by the standards of the time. His “youth approach” was cynical in the extreme. He had no serious qualifications for the job, even by Democrat standards, other than he wasn’t Nixon. His ‘Anti-war’ stance was an affected one at best, and would, by most estimates, disappear at the first VC attack.

Outside the convention, of course was another group of people who were simply pissed off the DNC hadn’t gone far enough left for their taste. Back in ’68, most of the leftist nutcases supported Minnesota Senator Eugene McCarthy, whose staunch anti-war stance was turning off most of his own Democrat party… Rather like the Haydens of today, who supported the likes of Howard Dean, isn’t it?

Does anyone recall who got the support of the voters in the general election that year? Hint: It was decidedly NOT Humphrey. The combination of the antics of the leftists, and the bumbling Humphrey, turned off voters in downright huge numbers, and gave Nixon the election.

Like 68, the Hollywood leftists and the whackjobs are at their most strident, and shrill. And yet, it’s not support for John Kerry that drives them… It’s for the defeat of ‘the man’.

Think about it; Is past, prologue?

Sorry, Michelle, I missed it. But then, with Mathews, I tend to do that anyway. I gave up on that idoit a long time ago. Your appearing there was almost enough to make me watch. But not quite, sorry.

Michelle’s money line from the transcript:

“…if he can’t stand the heat from his fellow veterans, do we really want to trust him to stand up to Islamic extremists? “

The phrase “Democrats playing fast and loose with the truth” brings to mind unbidden, Clinton era politics, where every statement Clinton, or any of the Democrats defending him from his gross misdeeds, needed to be parsed sliced and diced for all their meanings to be understood. There are many who thought we left all of that redefinition of ‘is’ behind us when Bill Clinton was shown the door nigh on four years ago. However, I’ve started to wonder if such truth stretching isn’t endemic to the breed, and thereby affecting the politics of today.

Deborah Orin writes in the New York Post the other morning;

“There’s now some real angst in Democratic circles be cause of the growing evidence that Democrat John Kerry’s claim to have a memory “seared in me” of spending Christmas 1968 in Cambodia was false — and just didn’t happen. But what worries some pro-Kerry Democrats is the fear that Kerry has, as one put it….that he’s a serial exaggerator.”

Ain’t it the truth…. And that truth is going to be a problem for Mr. Kerry going forward.

I wonder, though, if there isn’t something a bit more fundamental in the Democratic Party of today that is causing them these problems? (And our country as a whole, to the extent that we give Democrats the reins of power, of course.)

Orin goes on to point up a similarity between Mr. Kerry’s capacity to stretch the truth, and that of former Vice President Al Gore. She mentions in her article that even those in Kamp Kerry have begun (out of the public eye, of course) to describe this as an ‘Al Gore problem”, pointing out the now infamous claim of having invented the internet have having been the inspiration for the novel turned movie “Love Story”.

Orin points out some further problems with Kerry; pointing out Kerry’s claim for Vietnam missions when the missions were in fact performed by another man… Ted Peck.. and those claims were removed only when Mr. Peck complained.

Kerry’s Cambodia claims, are yet another stretching of the truth. The list of these is seemingly endless.

Orin points to the Swiftee Vets and the issues they bring to the table:

“Their online dialogue is punctuated with questions about why the “mainstream media” have been mostly ignoring this story — and why the 13 pro-Kerry vets are automatically assumed to have more credibility than 264 anti-Kerry vets.
Just imagine the coverage if 264 vets who served with Bush in the Texas Air National Guard made similar charges.

Well, Deb the answer is, we KNOW why that is.

Despite though, the efforts of the press to protect their candidate, revelations of Kerry Lies (TM)come in faster, these days than the leftist press can shore up the stone walls It’s come now to the point where even loyal Democrats, even those who defended Bill Clinton’s misdeeds, must view Kerry with suspicion. If one must needs to lie so much to make themselves look good, what kind of deficiency, are they hiding? What are the Democrats getting into with their support of Kerry?

Which brings us to Tom Harkin, the other day. Harkin, called Vice President Dick Cheney a “coward” for not serving in Vietnam. Harkin, has made claims in the past that he’s fought North Vietnamise MIG fighters, in ‘nam.But Harkin was never IN Vietnam. This lie of Harkin’s was exposed back in 1999 when he first tried to float it.

For all the problems that the SwiftVets have brought up, and for all the smoke and fire that Mr. Kerry has been fanning in his attempt to defned himself from his former comrades, there are yet other descriptions of the situation, from other groups… other individuals, tend to agree with the overall picture painted of Mr. Kerry.

Take for example, this link from the Captain’s Quarters just the other morning:

“When I read “Tour of Duty”, I became concerned because the material on Kerry’s time on GRIDLEY appeared in many instances to be exaggerations and in some cases figments of an overactive imagination. …
4. Later on page 87 Kerry talks about Olongapo in the Philippines. He talks about bloated corpses floating in the river and starving women with babies dying of malnutrition. Now Olongapo was a wild and wooly town that existed solely for the entertainment of the US Navy, but in over three years of calling there, I never saw a single instance of either thing happening. Kerry uncovered this in his first visit. If this was from his letters home then he was certainly writing for dramatic effect. Balderdash. …”

You’ll have to go to the link and read the whole thing.

And let’s take the party as a whole, shall we? Can someone please explain to me how the political party of Bill Clinton, a man who dodged the draft and is on record as saying he “loathed the military”, and who demonstrated against his own country while living overseas, is now the party who now leans more on naked militarism than any who oppose it? Does this not take a fundamental stretch?

The bottom line here is Kerry’s truth stretching isn’t new… it’s part of being a Democrat. And lest someone argue that this is an overstatement, tell me; Given Kerry’s a proven liar many times over, where are the Democrats who are taking John Kerry to task for it?

Jenifer over at A Collection of Thoughts passes on something she noted today in the paper:

“From the Washington Times comes the following: Uneven military service records have proved toxic to John Kerry’s campaign for president, prompting him to post his full military record on his Web site for critics to peruse.

But one sharp-eyed Washington Times reader — a former B-52 pilot and U.S. Air Force colonel — isn’t buying Mr. Kerry’s pre-emptive strike. “I looked at that Web site and the first thing I looked at was Kerry’s Silver Star citation. Guess what? It is for an action that took place in 1969, but it is signed by Secretary of the Navy John Lehman. Strangely, Lehman was secretary of the Navy from 1981 to 1987,” he noted. “How could Kerry have received a citation from an official that would not be in office for 12 years? This was NOT just a case of providing a new copy of a citation for the office to replace one that was lost (destroyed/thrown over a wall). This effort by Lehman & Kerry actually changed Kerry’s official Navy record, sometime in the 80s,” he continued.”

Interesting indeed.

Would this explain the discrepancies we’ve been witness to the last few days?
My guess here is this is going to play out over several days, coming to a head about a week from now.

Aug. 19 (Bloomberg) — Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry said a Republican group that questions whether he deserved his three Purple Hearts and Silver Star is lying and is a “front for the Bush campaign.”

Oh, HO!… So THAT’s the game eh? Well, let’s see. Now perhaps we understand why Kerry tried, without succes, to distance himself from MoveON, who is in effect a front for Kamp Kerry…

You can smell Kerry’s desperation… even at this distance.

Update: Byron over at Slings and Arrows notes the same feed, and takes Kerry to the woodshed, looking into the 527’s backing Kerry… and concludes:

“By Kerry’s measure, each of the organizations that support Democrat causes are “Democrat front groups.” John Kerry only objects when a 527 organization slams him. President George Bush objects to it all, which begs the question, “Is this really a fight John Kerry wants to have?”

Statement By Swift Boat Veterans for Truth Member Larry Thurlow

I am convinced that the language used in my citation for a Bronze Star was language taken directly from John Kerry’s report which falsely described the action on the Bay Hap River as action that saw small arms fire and automatic weapons fire from both banks of the river.

To this day, I can say without a doubt in my mind, along with other accounts from my shipmates-there was no hostile enemy fire directed at my boat or at any of the five boats operating on the river that day.

I submitted no paperwork for a medal nor did I file an after action report describing the incident. To my knowledge, John Kerry was the only officer who filed a report describing his version of the incidents that occurred on the river that day.

It was not until I had left the Navy-approximately three months after I left the service-that I was notified that I was to receive a citation for my actions on that day.

I believed then as I believe now that I received my Bronze Star for my efforts to rescue the injured crewmen from swift boat number three and to conduct damage control to prevent that boat from sinking. My boat and several other swift boats went to the aid of our fellow swift boat sailors whose craft was adrift and taking on water. We provided immediate rescue and damage control to prevent boat three from sinking and to offer immediate protection and comfort to the injured crew.

After the mine exploded, leaving swift boat three dead in the water, John Kerry’s boat, which was on the opposite side of the river, fled the scene. US Army Special Forces officer Jim Rassmann, who was on Kerry’s boat at the time, fell off the boat and into the water. Kerry’s boat returned several minutes later-under no hail of enemy gunfire-to retrieve Rassmann from the river only seconds before another boat was going to pick him up.

Kerry campaign spokespersons have conflicting accounts of this incident-the latest one being that Kerry’s boat did leave but only briefly and returned under withering enemy fire to rescue Mr. Rassmann. However, none of the other boats on the river that day reported enemy fire nor was anyone wounded by small arms action. The only damage on that day was done to boat three-a result of the underwater mine. None of the other swift boats received damage from enemy gunfire.

And in a new development, Kerry campaign officials are now finally acknowledging that while Kerry’s boat left the scene, none of the other boats on the river ever left the damaged swift boat. This is a direct contradiction to previous accounts made by Jim Rassmann in the Oregonian newspaper and a direct contradiction to the “No Man Left Behind” theme during the Democratic National Convention.

These ever changing accounts of the Bay Hap River incident by Kerry campaign officials leave me asking one question. If no one ever left the scene of the Bay Hap River incident, how could anyone be left behind?

It should be interesting to see the new dance steps invented to get around this one.

I’ll bet the readers of this post fall into two distinct lists:

1: Those who are interested in what the plan is

2: Those who can actually see the inherrent stupidity in a $27 Billion dollar growth of government being hawked as ‘saving money’, but are not at all shocked by Kerry having proposed it.

Now, of course Kerry has proposed no such plan…. (Today, at least.)… but I’m making a point here.
