Boortz does this so well, I scrapped what I’d put up, regarding the rather.. ummm… INTERESTING response from Kamp Kerry about the proposed troop re-deployments…

A few days ago President Bush announced a major redeployment of American troops overseas. Bush said that troops would be withdrawn from both Europe and South Korea.  Kerry, of course, being the expert that he is on defense matters and fighting in actual wars and carrying actual guns and all that, had to oppose the President’s plans.  So The Poodle steps in front of a VFW convention yesterday and delivers this line:

 "Why are we withdrawing (he actually said ‘withdrawring’) unilaterally 12,000 troops from the Korean peninsula at the very time that we are negotiating with North Korea, a country that really has nuclear weapons.  This is clearly the wrong signal to send at the wrong time."  John Kerry, August 18, 2004

Well .. that would have been just fine, if it hadn’t been for pesky things such as memories.  Just 17 days earlier Kerry had something completely different to say about troop redeployment:

"I will have significant, enormous reductions in the level of troops …In the Korean peninsula perhaps, in Europe perhaps." John Kerry, August 1, 2004

Man … don’t you just hate it when that happens?

Again, I remind my readers, that this is a plan that’s been in the works since before 9/11. It’s too bad about Mr. Kerry, who was in a position to know about these plans when they were first being discussed… if only we could get him to show up to work once in a blinking while…

Yes, I’ve seen the reports the WaPo put together claiming victory over he Swift Boat vets. OTB seems to have the best coverage on the matter so far, and links to others around blogdom who are on ths as well.

My own reaction? It strikes me as interesting that the the Times Corp can come up with records for the Swiftees but can’t, within that same timeframe, come up with John Kerry’s records. we’re still just taking Kerry’s word that what he’s released is the whole story.

As for Thurlow, it sounds to me like a lot of what was going on was recorded creatively.

And, in both cases, given Kerry’s propensity to lie, it seems based on the record that it becomes a matter of he said/he said, and thus Kerry, whose word we cannot trust, loses.

Joyner seems to think that the official record of the event should end the discussion, just as Mr. Bush’s honorable discharge should end that discussion. James, there’s a major difference you’re missing, here. Bush didn’t make his military service the central part of his qualifications for the office. Kerry did. That, by it’s nature opens the subject up to serious scrutiny.

Too bad WaPo doesn’t agree.

But as Greyhawk over at Muddville mentions:

But President Bush, of course, didn’t reach down into a river and pull Mr Rassman onto an Iowa stage, thus making his military record the centerpiece of his campaign. Bush’s record, like Kerry’s, was brought into play by Democrats. (And poured over by the press.)

The Swiftee’s anger with Mr. Kerry is at least in part due to his turning his back on them upon returning home. But it seems to me that this is a central concern to those being asked to elect Mr. Kerry to the highest office this country has to offer, in that it brings up character issues which cannot be avoided if one is to make a proper choice about who is to be President.

What kind of issues? Well, for example, is Mr. Kerry one to keep faith with the American people? Not if we judge him by his record. Consider him speaking before the VFW the other day. He stood there, speaking glibly about “not breaking faith with those who are serving or had served in the past”, all the while apparently ignoring, or at least not mentioning, the way he’d broken faith with his fellows once he came back here. To Wit:

“They told stories that at times they had personally raped, cut off ears, cut off heads, taped wires from portable telephones to human genitals and turned up the power, cut off limbs, blown up bodies, randomly shot at civilians, razed villages in fashion reminiscent of Ghengis Khan, shot cattle and dogs for fun, poisoned food stocks, and generally ravaged the countryside of South Vietnam in addition to the normal ravage of war and the normal and very particular ravaging which is done by the applied bombing power of this country.”

Mr. Kerry has similar flipflops all thoughout his history. His on again/off again support for the Iraq action being only the most recent. (I’ve documented many of these, and won’t bother chewing up bandwidth here.)

All of these, he passes off as Nuance.  The American people, including vets, have other words. “Liar”, “Opportunist” “Back stabber”

IN truth, it is apparent that the only thing Mr. Kerry ever learned well in the Military was “About Face”

As I say… annoying.

He who does not need the links, and whose toes we are not worthy to lick clean makes note of an interesting claim by Tom Harkin. Harkin who recently called VP Dick Cheney a ‘coward’ for not fighting in ‘nam claimed to have been fighting against North Vietnamise Migs.

There is one small problem.

Harkin was never in Vietnam.

Glenn gets into it pretty deep with this one, and you should read it.

It seems to me a pattern of lies is developing here.. and the Democrats just keep getting themselves in deeper, and deeper.

“WASHINGTON %97 Vietnam veterans opposing John Kerry have scored a hit with a tough TV ad that claims he lied about his war record %97 it makes swing voters think twice about backing Kerry%2C an independent study has found. “

The Jackson Sun News has an article up on their site today that suggests there are a lot of stars coming out to help Preident Bush:

“HENDERSONVILLE – A group of politically conservative country music stars launched a get-out-the-vote project Tuesday, saying all Americans have a responsibility to vote in November regardless of their political party.

”Your vote does count,” country and bluegrass musician Ricky Skaggs said. ”It’s a God-given right and a freedom that we have in this country. And freedom is not free.”

…

The project will include public service announcements by Skaggs, Randy Travis, Darryl Worley, Josh Turner, Marty Raybon, Billy Dean and others.

Despite the nonpartisan tone of their plea, Skaggs made it clear that he personally supports President Bush. He was set to leave Tuesday to participate in a Bush campaign rally in Minneapolis.

Captain Ed over at the Captain’s Quarters makes note of a story about Kerry’s personal Journal, which has itself exposed yet another Kerry Lie.

Kerry writes in his journal claiming he has not been shot at yet a week after the event that got him his frst Purple Heart.

Neal Boortz notes this as well, and asks:

” Tell me .. if Kerry had not yet experienced enemy fire then how did he earn a Purple Heart?”

It’s all coming unraveled for Kerry. and the RNC hasn’t even got the chairs warm, yet.

Jim Pinkerton adds himself to the list of people who read this slimeball as I did a few days ago in this space.

“By playing the sex card – even better, the gay-sex card – New Jersey Gov. Jim McGreevey bought himself some grace from the media and a bump-up in public opinion. Gubernatorial corruption places second to sexual liberation.”

Funny thing; I’m not getting the arguments I got on this point a few days ago.

John Podhoretz this morning makes note of the incredulous response from Kamp Kerry to re-deployment of troups recently announced.

Kerry and his people are seriously ticked, saying this is politically motivated…. Ignoring, of course, the fact that this move has been in the planning stages since 2000.

Their underlying issue? The UnAmerican left’s historical butt-kissing of France, and of Germany… who it should be pointed out has opposed us at every step in this war on terror.

As Podhoretz says:

think I speak for the vast majority of Americans when I say: Gee, we really feel bad for the Germans.

Not.

Consider for a moment the idea of electing to the CIC position, someone who comes to the defense of someone who was up to their armpits in the oil payola bed with Saddam, while opposing our moves against Saddam… 

Yeah, that’s gonna sell big, huh?

The Washington Times also reports this monring that there seems to be a squriming issue going on over in Kamp Kerry:

“Sen. John Kerry’s campaign said yesterday that the Democratic presidential nominee is not hiding any of his war records and has in fact released them all to the public. ”

The spokesmonkey makes the claim that his entire record is up on his website.
So, we’re supposed to take Kerry’s word for it?

Sign the 180, Senator. Allow for the government to release all yor records so we can verify your words.
You have nothing to lose, assuming you’re telling us the truth.

You went after the Presdent, and the presdient has released all his records.  Shouldn’t we expect that from you?
