Lead Issues in DC?

D.C. Handling Of Lead Issue Blasted on Hill (washingtonpost.com)

Says the POST:

“Federal officials yesterday described the levels of lead contamination in the District’s drinking water as the worst seen by regulators and threatened to step in if local officials do not take immediate steps to protect the public. “

Hmmm. So let’s see if I’m missing anything, here.

1: Lead in the water in the DC area.

2: Lead, among other things, causes irritability, lethargy, and brain damage.

3:Democrats predominate in DC’s local politics.

One could ask as a matter of logic, if the third point was the result of the first two.

A few folks have written to ask why I’ve not done anything with the Martha Stewart story, particularly given the verdict of yesterday.

The answer is simple; I started this site to make comment on things that interest ME, and Martha Stewart doesn’t qualify.
But since you asked;

Do I think she’s guilty?

Probably.

Do I think this was a witch hunt?

Probably.

Do I think this is a case of a DA looking for an easy target, for helping their re-election?

Undoubtedly. 

Do I think the furor over this is being driven by the usual class warfare suspects?

No question.

And lest we forget, Stewart is a Democrat who when this first started, blamed the Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy for her being arrested.

But if there’s one aspect to all of this that really bothers me, it’s that all this amounts to is something Glenn Reynolds points out in his blog the other day:

“…she has been found guilty of covering up crimes the government couldn’t prove she committed….”

Odd, the ones celebrating her conviction, are the ones who were among the loudest defenders of Bill Clinton, isn’t it?

But the Dear Leader is not the only one getting deferential treatment from the communist state’s propaganda machine: John Kerry, the presumptive Democratic candidate, is also getting good play in Pyongyang.

You can’t make up stuff like this.
I can’t imagine this won’t be something the Kerry campaign won’t try to downplay…

DRUDGE is reporting an interesting twist:

“A Palm Beach County Judge — who operated in the same jurisdiction that is currently hearing the Rush Limbaugh pill case — was hooked on OxyContin and forced from the bench, but was never investigated if he obtained the pills legally, the DRUDGE REPORT can reveal. “

The report goes on to suggest, correctly, that:

“News of the Palm Beach judge’s ordeal appears to give credence to Limbaugh’s claim that he is being selectively targeted.”

Amazing how this works, isn’t it?

You may recall the unAmerican action I noted by the school board up in Mich, where the board decided the reservist had to pay for his substitute while he was off serving his country.

When Totten is wrong, I’ll set him on fire, as I did recently.

So, when he’s right, it’s only fair for me to point it out, particularly when he is dramatically so. Such is the case in his postingBush Vs. Kerry:

I’m a little uncomfortable, though; I’d be interested to see where he thinks Edwards would have been any different as to policy, than Kerry, particularly enough to cause him to lean toward the senseless act of a straight-line Democrat vote.

Personally, I’ve NEVER voted straight line ANYTHING.

Little Green Footballs points out that it’s not Christianity but Islam whose writings blame the jews as a whole for the death of Christ:

Thrust of the article:

“If the human race as a whole, rather than 50 states plus the District of Colombia, could cast a ballot this coming November, John Kerry would surely win the presidency by a landslide.”

Well, now let’s think about why this would be; Could it be that we here in the US would be weaker as a result, and they think they’d be stronger? Perhaps that’s why it’s against our laws for people from other nations to participate in our elections?

Now… about our southern borders…..

Aldaynet is running a bit reporting that Ted Rall has been dropped form the New York Times. says Rall himself:

To which I respond:

Free speech?

Hmmm.

I’m unaware of anyone preventing him from drawing his crap. He could draw for any other paper that would have him.

Seems to me that Rall, like the good liberal he is, hasn’t figured out that free speech doesn’t mean a guaranteed audience. If it did, my Blog would be on a commercial site of my own making, with thousands of readers every hour.
LOL… I wonder how thie likes of Rall would deal with that.

What kind of anti-American nonsense is THIS?

(Washington, DC) Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, announced today that it has filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) against John Kerry for President, Inc. for failing to report a campaign contribution that appears to be in excess of legal limits.

“Quite simply, Senator Kerry’s loan raises questions and the FEC needs to investigate,” stated Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton.

Dean wins home state:

Apparently, even THEY can’t stand Kerry.

Edwards out:

Hmmm.
