The United States will be ready to launch a missile attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities as soon as early this month, perhaps “from 4 a.m. until 4 p.m. on April 6,” according to reports in the Russian media on Saturday.

According to Russian intelligence sources, the reports said, the US has devised a plan to attack several targets in Iran, and an assault could be carried out by launching missiles from fighter jets and warships stationed in the Persian Gulf.

Somehow, I expect there’s more to this, and less.

Might be some Intel ruse being played on Iran.

The London Daily Telegraph has now revealed the existence of a classified handbook for EU diplomat types that encourages governments and the European media to avoid using phrases that might (gasp!) offend Muslims when referring to terrorism. The EU handbook suggests banning words like “jihad”, “Islamic” or “fundamentalist.”

Yup .. that’s right. It is now officially improper in Europe to refer to an Islamic terrorist as an Islamic terrorist. Never mind the fact that virtually every terrorist operating in the world today is a Muslim … and never mind that the wonderful, peaceful, serene, nonviolent, passive, tranquil, placid, laid-back, loving religion of Islam virtually relies on terrorism as it’s chief foreign policy tool. We certainly don’t want to offend these people now, do we? So the EU handbook on how to talk about terrorism without offending the people responsible for the terrorism tells us that we might want to give consideration to the phrase “terrorists who abusively invoke Islam.”

Screw that.

Islam is a religion of hate and violence … and so it shall remain until we see Muslims everywhere in the world openly and loudly standing up to these violent Islamic fascists and their apologists like the Council on American Islamic Relations. CAIR has never issued a blanket repudiation of the use of violence and terrorist tactics on the part of Islamic groups. I fully realize that there are Muslims everywhere who hate the violence and hatred brought to us by the jihadists as much as we do …. but until they are as loud in their condemnation of terrorism as the jihadists are in their threats to the West … Islam will be known by the actions of the radicals, not of the peaceful.

In the meantime, look around for an example of the Western world standing up to the Islamic goons. The City of Minneapolis suggests a light signal system on its taxis to warn customers of which Muslim cab drivers will transport passengers carrying alcohol, and which will not. Target stores jumps through its own rear end to find a way to accommodate Muslim cashiers at its stores who refuse to ring up items containing pork. A British school changes the name of the “Three Little Pigs” to the “Three Little Puppies.” Today’s Daily Mail from London reports on a study by the Department for Education and Skills. British teachers, it seems, are not teaching the Holocaust in British schools. Some teachers are afraid that Muslim pupils might react badly in class.

Everywhere you look you see capitulation. From supermarket check-out counters to the halls of the U.S. Congress. This capitulation is seen by Islamic fascists as nothing less than signs of weakness. It emboldens them, and weakens us. You do the math. Where does this lead?

TEHRAN, Iran —AP- The standoff over 15 captured British sailors shows no signs of abating, and analysts say that Iran’s tough stance is a demonstration of the power of hardliners unafraid to confront the West.

Events on Sunday only further polarized the situation: Two of the sailors appeared on state TV, saying they trespassed into Iranian waters, and about 200 angry Iranian youths threw rocks and firecrackers at the British Embassy and unsuccessfully tried to rush its grounds.

So, where’s the chatter from the usual suspects about how these animals are not following the Geneva Conventions? The implications of none of the usual suspects complaining about this action by Iran, speaks volumes to what we’ve been saying all along; The left is cheering for the enemies of America.

In writing over the weekend, as regards the possibility of lawsuits resulting from Fred Thompson running for president while his reruns continue on TV, James plunges in the knife pen:

We really ought to amend the Constitution to the effect that “Congress shall make no law abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press.” That would stop such silliness.

It strikes me that the candidacy of Fred Thompson would bring up a double whammy; not only would it bring on other Reaganesque figure to the race for the White House, it would also bring the entire question of McCain/Feingold to the courts, and therefore to the public eye, whilst McCain is still trying to run his own campaign. “Dancing With the Stars” will finally have some competition.

Addendum:   (David L)   Fred Thompson is currently filling in for Paul Harvey, and doing a great job.  This what I find funny, Fred can do Paul Harvey, a news program, speak his own words and not trigger any fairness issues.  On the other shoe, when Fred plays Arthur Branch and speaks only the words of Dick Wolf, that does trigger a fairness issue.  It is wacky world in which we live.

SIOUX CITY, Iowa -AP- If President Bush vetoes an Iraq war spending bill as promised, Congress quickly will provide the money without the withdrawal timeline the White House objects to because no lawmaker “wants to play chicken with our troops,” Sen. Barack Obama said Sunday.

“My expectation is that we will continue to try to ratchet up the pressure on the president to change course,” the Democratic presidential candidate said in an interview with The Associated Press. “I don’t think that we will see a majority of the Senate vote to cut off funding at this stage.”

This proves several things.

1: The antiwar movement in this country has nowhere near the support they’d like you to believe.  Clearly the Democrats understand the political suicide cutting funding would be.

2: President Bush is nowhere near the lame duck that the left makes him out to be.

3: Ultimately, the Democrats are weaker than they make themselves out to be.

How long will the war on terror last? Decades, most people assume. After all, the threat of Sept. 11-style attacks persists, and as long as it does, America will work mightily to prevent them. But the “war on terror” — as a phrase — could be nearing its final days. When the Bush administration goes, it may, too.

Start with the word “war.” From the beginning it was designed to contrast with crime, which many Republicans said had been the Clinton administration’s framework for fighting al-Qaeda. Democrats allegedly saw anti-terrorism as police work. The Bush administration, by contrast, would unleash the military. Lurking behind this dichotomy was the assumption that jihadist terrorists were mainly creatures of their state sponsors. If the real threat was not terrorist networks but governments, then of course war, rather than crime, was the correct prism.

That’s Peter Beinart of the WaPo. Apparently, he’s still trying to mislabel the situation in Iraq, just like a good little Liberal should.  The fact of the matter is that Iraq of itself was never powerful enough to create any terrorism on its own. And we even said that going in! Yes, certainly, Iraq was charged at the time with having weapons of mass destruction.  Yes, subsequent to the invasion they have not been found.  However we are still dealing with a question of what that long line of trucks headed for Syria was all about, the day before we invited.  Nobody’s ever answered that one to anyone’s satisfaction who’s taking the threat seriously.

The issue, if he’d bother to read his own papers archives, has always been whether or not Iraq was the willing tool of other governments, such as Syria and certain governmental factions in Iran, and Pakistan.

I’ve said it often enough… Unions are killing America.

Sgt. Godfrey Abiah said police in the capital, Honiara, reported a wave several yards high had crashed ashore in the western town of Gizo shortly before communication lines with the region were cut.

Julian McLeod of the Solomon Islands National Disaster Management Office said there were unconfirmed reports that two villages in the country’s far west were flooded.

Personally speaking, I’m waiting for Al Gore to come out and start blaming all of this on a “global warming.

It amazes me how routinely people just glide right past the Stolen Concept Fallacy in it. He has to steal the very idea of “right” in order to make the general assertion that Sayet is pointing out: “It’s all so terribly complex and confusing and nobody can be right, and trust me: I’m right about this.”

Scott Erb should be summarily laughed out of court on this epistemic point alone,

The bottom line is we both know he won’t be, not universally, anyway.  And that’s small number that thinks what he says to be valid, provides him just enough wiggle room to continue on his merry way, unencumbered by mere facts.
The implication that stands out the most in my mind, right now, and going back some fifteen years with him, is that he absolutely refuses to accept that anyone could possibly have a better understanding of a given situation than he.  And you’re quite right; since as he professes, it’s all so complex that nobody’s standard could ever work, he thinks the best solution is just to apply HIS standard. The idea of forcing everyone else into his standard, by means of governmental fiat, apparently, doesn’t bother him in the least.  Letting people make their own decisions, does. But don’t call him a socialist. He wants a working welfare system, but don’t say he supports the big government needed to enact and support such a structure.
That was made clearer nowhere, than this:

Since you aren’t alone in the world, you can’t expect other people to make the choices you think they should make.

Perhaps not, but then again, he’s not the one talking about an operating welfare state being a good thing.  That would be you.  Thos are, after all, YOUR words, not mine.

Go ahead, Scott… Tell us again, about who’s making choices for other people.

As Tim says, a little knowledge is a dangerous thing.  To this I would add; considering that the little knowledge that you possess, is the sum total of the human knowledge, as Erb clearly is doing, is nothing short of fatal.  Not that I’d expect him to have the wit to see it so.

About this Chocolate Jesus thing that seems all the rage in Blogdom these last few days…

As a Christian, I must confess that I don’t find this all that disturbing. After all, this isn’t Christ stuffed into a bottle of Urine, or a statue made of cow poo, or something… which by the way I objected to at the time and still do. How is this statue more offensive than these other alleged works of art? What about the medium of Chocolate, is so offensive? I mean, if this was done in marble, would there be such an outcry?

The six-foot (1.8m) sculpture, entitled “My Sweet Lord”, depicts Jesus Christ naked on the cross.

Oh, I see. This one doesn’t have a loincloth. Perhaps Mr. Donahue would be so good is to explain to us where in the Bible and mentions the was wearing one?  Somehow I tend to doubt he would take me up on this.

Catholic League head Bill Donohue called it “one of the worst assaults on Christian sensibilities ever”.

Really? How?

“The fact that they chose Holy Week shows this is calculated, and the timing is deliberate,” Mr Donohue said.

Mr Semler said the timing of the exhibition was coincidental.

Even if the timing was not incidental, I still fail to see why the outrage. Certainly, there was one major idiot they could depend on to draw attention to the work.

My advice to Mr. Donahue is to reserve his rage for something that actually deserves it.   This ain’t it.
