Feds Close Another Postal Facility

Channel 4 in the DC area says that the Feds have closed the V-street facility; apparently more Anthrax.

That, by the way, is where the Penetgon gets all it’s mail.

Power Line points ot a Zogby report on Socialist Security that is interesting.  Says Hindrocket:

He notes that in his pollling, those who described themselves as members of the investor class favored President Bush by a margin of 61% to 39%, while those who described themselves as non-investors favored Kerry by 57% to 42%. The kicker: no fewer than 46% described themselves as investors.

Consider, though; How can the single biggest group of anti-profit, anti-business, anti-worker, anti-investor pols ever assembled, make a pro-investor part of their plans?

The answer is simply; They cannot. On that basis, the Democrats are already in trouble with the American voter.

Look, let’s call this what it is; The NAACP is a corrupt puppet of the corrupt DNC, and Kweisi Mfume was it’s head.

Billy Beck notes the Caribbean, Air Transat flight 961 story and wonders why he hadn’t heard of the week-old story.

Some background, before I start flaying things….

At 35,000 feet above the Caribbean, Air Transat flight 961 was heading home to Quebec with 270 passengers and crew. At 3.45 pm last Sunday, the pilot noticed something very unusual. His Airbus A310’s rudder – a structure 28 feet high – had fallen off and tumbled into the sea. In the world of aviation, the shock waves have yet to subside.

Mercifully, the crew was able to turn the plane around, and by steering it with their wing and tail flaps managed to land at their point of departure in Varadero, Cuba, without loss of life. But as Canadian investigators try to discover what caused this near catastrophe, the specialist internet bulletin boards used by pilots, accident investigators and engineers are buzzing.

No kidding; the Usenet areas in particular are simply mad with it. But some things which are not showing up in the mainstream US press about it, have apparently started showing up elsewhere.

From what I’ve been able to put together from various reports around the world, here’s the facts;

The Airbus A-310 was about a half-hour into it’s four hour flight between Varadero, Cuba and Quebec City when the rudder fell off. The response was a sudden loss of altitude via a steep dive. The pilot did manage to get things under control, however, and once he got things righted, started looking around for a place to put down.

The pilot’s first response, because the plane was now in American airspace, was to radio for permission to land at Fort Lauderdale International which was at that point the nearest major airport. Air controllers countered with an offer at Miami. Reasoning given was that there were no customs officials on duty in Fort Lauderdale at that point.

The FAA says that at this point, the pilot opted to return to Cuba. Now, it should be noted that had the pilot declared an emergency, he could have put down anywhere he wanted to. Thing is, such an emergency was never declared, and the reports I’ve seen of the radio exchanges, and some reports from Quebec, it was the pilot’s choice to return to Cuba. Apparently, what didn’t make it to the air controller’s tapes was the conversation between the pilot and Air Transat’s ownership, wherein, we’re told the choice to go back to Cuba was made.

But watch this; What was told the passengers, was that the US had refused to allow an emergency landing. I’ve seen reports in the frankophone press to this effect several times in the last week since this story came up. The reason given to the passengers and the press of course was the trade Embargo against Cuba.

Again, however. an emergency was never declared.

So, let’s see, here.

We have an EU made Airbus, whose makers don’t really want this info out, given the long standing suspicions about Airbus’s culpability from a November 2001 crash, where 265 people died on American Airlines flight 587… in another rudder incident. (The pilots were blamed in that one, if you will recall) Then there’s the report of the non-fatal crashes which were amazingly similar.

Then we have Canada whose rather vicious cycle of lies of late would made the Clintons blanch; and the world-wide left still ticked off that we have an embargo against the socialist worker’s paradise.

I can see why it’d take a week for this story to break; It’d take ’em that long to figure out how to spin it.

It’s become clear, though that the 310 is an accident waiting to happen… And the EU and it’s apologists don’t want that info getting public. They may not, however, be able to hold it off, this time.

Something weird about this…

After watching what CBS did with the Reagan story a couple years ago, one wonders why anyone is shocked at how out of touch CBS’s version of the book “Saving Milly” is from the reality, and from the real-life expereince of Mort Kondrake, who wrote it.

If I’m Milt, I’m ticked, based on the reports I’ve seen so far.

McQ over at Q & O discusses Steven Levy’s concerns about a lack of diversity in blogdom, today.

Because the old media was a closed system, they controlled who entered it and who was allowed to participate.  IOW, there was indeed control over who could or couldn’t write and be published. If the old media chose to reflect a white male perspective only, it was pretty easy to accomplish that

Well, yes, but the reverse was pretty much the norm over the last 60 years or so; It has gotten to the point where the majority can’t speak it’s mind, on any point, for fear of being labeled racist, or not respecting divesity.

Along comes Blogging in answer to this, and suddenly Levy’s nervous.

Seriously, though, it seems to me that the real argument going on here is the artificaially injected controls on information, and that it simply doesn’t exist in Blogdom.

I add comments to his post, thus;

First, Blogdom IS diversity, personified.

Secondly, therefore, comes the idea that all this concern of a lack of diversity, is really a thinly veiled concern that the left cannot stand on it’s own merits; it’s diversity needs be ‘protected’ for some reason.

Jenkins, in his comments makes it clear that he still does not understand that a freedom of speech for a particular POV, does not mean an enforced audience. What he seeks is exactly that… an audience who cannot chose whom they will listen to.

Need I make the obvious comment that choice is the single biggest reason Blogs have taken off, of late?

Tim Russert hosted Donald Rumsfeld and Teddy Kennedy on this morning’s Meet The Press. Rummy was outstanding, he handed Russert his ass repeatedly and respectfully on questions of Abu Ghraib, troop strength, insurgency, etc.

Teddy, who never shared the stage with Rummy, was as to be expected, a blathering fool. Believe it or not Russert tossed about as many high hard ones as he tossed cream puffs to fat Teddy, whose earlobes appear within moments of being completely subsumed by his jowls.

With each day that passes I’m ever more thankful that the Party of Teddy opened a big package of shredded ass on Wednesday November 3rd.

Amen, brother. Amen.

GOP Bloggers has a post up that’s a little confusing.

THe Healine says “Condi says she won’t run”, and in the text we see she’s stated she doesn’t plan to run.

A rather substantail diference, and it certainly does not constitute a full rejection of eventually running.

Captain’s Quarters this morning links a report from Beruit that the recent Hezbollah rally was basicly drowned out by the response of a people seeking freedom.
