Specifically, the Tusk points to a Denver Post article of 1987, which reports Churchill taught the revolutionary group the Weathermen how to make bombs and fire weapons. Worth a look.

Which falls into line rather nicely with the left here in the states objecting to anything and everything the Republicans do… including when they do stuff the Democrats were calling for themselves, just over four years ago. Like priavte Social Security accounts, for example.

Trust me; if I see such, I will admit to being pleasantly surprized.

Here’s the story; Democrat DA brings the Republican Mayor of Salt Lake City, up on felony charges. She was removed from office due to those charges. And she was hen found innocent by a jury.

That done, she’s now saying… perhaps correctly… that the DA was acting not for justice, but political interest.

Matt Hoy at Hoystory.com notes that Lynne Stewart has been convicted. You rememer her… she’s the lawyer for that blind sheik,Omar Abdel-Rahman, who was convicted of plotting to assassinate Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak.

Stewart possibly faces 20 years in prison, after being convicted on charges that include Fraud, Conspiracy, amd giving material support to terrorists.

Prosecutors made the case… with some success, apparently… that Stewart carried messages between Rahman and his merry wandering band of terrorists, including his call on all Muslims to kill those who did not subscribe to his extremist brand of Islam law.

CNN passes along a meaningful quote:

“But she also testified that she believed violence was sometimes necessary to achieve justice: “To rid ourselves of the entrenched, voracious type of capitalism that is in this country that perpetuates sexism and racism, I don’t think that can come nonviolently.”

So clearly she will not repent from calling for violence on the US.

Well, she’s right about one thing. Justice can, indeed. be served by violence, and I think it should be brought to bear in this case. Publicly.

After all Treason is still a hanging offense. 20 years is too little. Charges of treason should be brought, and the woman needs to be made somewhat taller.  (Make no mistake, I am not calling for vigilante type stuff on this… not at all.. for many reasons, inclduing the idea that all that does is make a martyr. we need to do this inside the law.)Given the definition, of treason I’ve linked, it would appear she’s guilty of all that and more. Sadly, I doubt we have the national will to deal with this traitor as such, on a legal basis, and that’s where this needs be pursued.

She does have some self-rightious rambling on Blogspot. Might wanna grab it before someone gets the bright idea of taking it down. Far as I can see, all it does is confirm my take on her.

The Volokh Conspiracy reports the sad news that Jazz Organ great Jimmy Smith is gone at age 79. Here’s the guy who singlehandedly turned me on to the Hammond B3/Leslie 147 combo back in the late 60’s. 

A different style, perhaps but I suppose the best comparison I can make on the sound of the instrument for you is the sound of GReg Rollie’s organ in early Santana records. He used pretty much the same combo during those years.

As for Smith himself, my last exposure to his more recent stuff was by way of an LP he released in late 1985, back when I was doing Jazz radio.  It was a favorite of mine. I was taken, though with his complaints in the liner notes about having problems getting his daugter to appreciate the music he and his fellows were making, as opposed to all the rap nonsense. A real talent, wrapped in Joe Everyman, from what I could see of him. Those are always the best kind.

watched Paul Begala on Crossfire yesterday … he was talking about Bush’s proposed spending cuts.  Now, bear in mind, Bush is proposing a cut of less than one percent.  Eight-tenths of one percent, to be exact.  That would be the equivalent of eight cents out of ten dollars.  So, how does hyper-partisan Paul Begala handle this?  He says that the Bush budget would SLASH money from the budget in communities around the nation.  SLASH I tell you.  Is this responsible commentary or just plain fear-mongering?

Well, of course it’s fear mongering.  It’s one more example of what I was talking about at Q&O, yesterday responding to Jon Henke’s worry about never getting real reform. I responded to Jon:

The voters have to be convinced that the removal of those supports won’t cause the world to end. We got here over a period of nearly a century… it’s not going to end outright in four or eight years, particularly doing a time of war.

By way of comparison, I bought up the Iraqi situation:

The Democrats have been screaming bloody murder, making all kinds of dire predictions, none of which have come true… the most recent of which was that the Iraq Elections went off on schedule.

The Democrats… the Chicken Littles of the outfit, are now scraping bits of sky off their faces as a result with the voting public. The world didn’t end.

Same with Afghanistan. For all the fear mongering that the Democrats have been engaged in, exactly none of those dire predictions they’ve been making have come true. None.

So, along comes a very small cut in the federal budget…. 8 tenths of one percent in total… and the Democrats are acting once again lke the world is going to end… as Boortz says, Fear mongering.

Thing is, the voting public is starting to see this grandstanding by the Dmeocrats for what it is… the very reason the Democrats are getting more shrill in their objections to this stuff is because they’re less effective in swaying the electorate… they feel they have to turn up the volume, as it were. More fear mongering.

Think the denegration of the Reagan years is central to the Democrats for no reason? No, they are desperate to re-write history so as to position budget cutting as the third rail.  But watch what happens when the small cuts go through and the dire predictions of the Democrats are yet again exposed as fear mongering.  Budget cuts at that point ill no longer be the third rail of American politics, but part and parcel of it as the good things that come out of those cuts start happening.

At that point, the move away from the nanny government can start in earnest because at that point it will have the public support it deserves.

I’ve been watching this pants-wetting going on with usual suspects, with the Talon News guy, and it’s started to concern me. So in the interest of openess, and fairness….. call it a pre-emptive strike…. I’m going to make some admissions to you all. This isn’t going to be pretty, but better to do this now than have it thrown in my face as a weapon by those who don’t like my politics and are attempting to destroy me.

There’s far more to my personality of course, but the reader will doubtless get the idea I’m not at all a desireable person in leftist circles. I do this because I don’t want you to be shocked and amazed when some yahoo…. err sorry… enlightened citizen (cough, wheeze) on Democrat Underground or on Kos’s comment section decides I’m a ripe target for outing. I can simply point to this post and say “It’s been done already, Bunky..”

They posted a story today about someone who is promoting the idea of selling stripped down laptops… new, as sub-$100 units. This is suppsoed to be so great as an educational tool and so on.

Here’s a news flash you may not have heard of BBC… I have three laptops… each of which are of the standards proposed. I write my long form stuff on one of ’em. And each cost less than $100. One, in fact cost me $20.

They’re commonly known as ‘Used”. And to boot, they’re actually more powerful than what’s being proposed.

Forgive me if I fail to see anything newsworthy here.

…. I keep seeing people trying to sneer-off her religious foundations. I don’t know how they could make a bigger mistake with her. This creature is on a lifelong mission to save the world, and she’ll burn you down to do it.

The religious thing is merely a affectation with her, Billy. Another tool toward the end of getting what she wants. Think the whole “Religious left” meme isn’t connected to her 2008 campaign? Think again.

Make no mistake in my comments; She needs to be taken as a serious threat politically. But do not take her affectation on matters religious as anything more than a ruse.
