One of the biggest arguments over the last few years, on the opinion pages and on Usenet, tends to pop up when the name of Hitler is invoked as a standard for comparison. The usual leftist mantra runs that when we compare (insert Hillary here) to Hitler, ala “Hitlery”, it’s a sure sign that the speaker is running out of options, and has certainly lost both the argument and any crediblity inside or outside of said discussion.

Has anyone looked at the MOVEON site recently? Hell, gang, that’s all these people can come up with is alusions to Hitler, where the Republicans are concerned. Usenet has become particularly batty on this point. Well, the leftists are, anyway.

But think; If we’re to take them at their word of just a few short Monica kneepad sessions ago, they’re telling us, they’re running out of options, and have certainly lost both the argument and any crediblity inside or outside of said discussion.

Just something to ponder today.

ProfessorBainbridge.com: Does Howard Dean have an Insider Trading Problem?:

“Howard Dean acknowledged yesterday that he sold $15,000 in stock in five Vermont banks in 1991 after getting ‘inside information’ from a state banking regulator soon after he became Vermont governor.”

Well, what can I say? Dean is, after all, a Democrat.

Memo to Terry McAwful:May the Democratic leaders get the anger they deserve. BY ZELL MILLER

An interesting article, in which Miller disagrees with none of the supposedly ‘core Values” of the Democrat party, but rather takes to task the personalities vieing for it’s nomination for president, for their nonsense, that just abou everyone, inclduing MOVEON has been after them about.

(Does anyone really know, other than their own powerlust, what the Democrats stand for anymore?)

But what happens? As a result of this write-up by Miller, apparently, this morning on C-Span the question was “Should Miller resign from the party, or perhaps be htrown out’. All for disageeing with Terry McAwful. (God, I love that one)

I think we can take it as an indication of what I’ve stated flatly for years; any varience from the Democrat mantra will get you lots of ire, tot he point of being excommunicated. So much for the open discussion.

I tell ya gang, the Democrats are burying themselves for this next election. The only question remaining is how many decades it’ll take to exhume them after GWB’s second term.

You’ll notice I’ve started posting the covers of the books I’m reading, Under BitsBooks along the right column, and linking them to wherever I’m getting the image from.

Legal stuff: The images are copyright of the holders. I make no claim to them.

Practical stuff: It’s nicer to see the picture on the website, than the standard text. The publishers and the authors get a free link to sell their books on my website, which constitutes a personal suggestion that you buy the book yourself, whereas I get the use of the picture. Seems a fair trade to me; I can’t imagine anyone objecting, but (shrug) if they do I’ll respect that.

Of course, these conditions mean that I’ll only post the books I find worth my pixels.

AP Kills Limbaugh Painkillers Story (washingtonpost.com):

“The Associated Press
Saturday, January 3, 2004; 5:06 PM
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Please kill the story Limbaugh-Painkillers, V9991. Rush Limbaugh has not been charged with doctor shopping.
A kill is mandatory.

Make certain the story is not used.

-0-

Gee. Now why would the writer say something that wasn’t true about Rush, hmmmm?
Granted, that this constitutes a correction n the part of the AP. But consider the author of the cancelled story. Why would the story need correction? Someone trying to slip one by the reader? Or perhaps the writer of the canceled story is going based on their own ideas, and not the facts, eh?

World Tribune.com–Front Page:

“A security officer in the Israeli Embassy in Beijing caught a group of Chinese technicians last month attempting to plant electronic eavesdropping devices in the embassy’s telephone lines. “

Now what would the Chinese gain, I wonder? Nothing directly, I suppose. But indirectly? Well, let’s see, here. The Chinese have a longish history of backing the North Koreans. The North Koreans, meanwhile, have a long history of arms deals and support for the Arabs seeking the downfall of Israel and the west.

Do the math.

::::: Plusdeck – PC Cassette Deck :::::

You knew someone had to come up with this one.
Myself, I have a rather largish cassette collection (A few thousand) and have recently added an MP3 player to my truck.  But I also have a tape deck… a good one….  dedicated to my computer.

Personally, I’d be curious as to what they consider ‘quality’ recording, particularly if it’s done at higher tape speeds.

Meteorite hits Iran:

“TEHRAN (Reuters) – A meteorite has hit northern Iran causing minor damage to property but there were no immediate reports of casualties, state radio has said.”

Ya know, I gotta wonder, if this isn’t related to the earthquake somehow…. magnetic fields or something.  (Shrug) Guess you never know.

U.S. Helicopter Shot Down in Iraq; One Dead:

The interesting twist:

“Soon after, five men ‘wearing black press jackets with ‘press’ clearly written in English’ fired on U.S. paratroopers guarding the crash site, Kimmitt said.”

This story assumes of course that it was in fact not some left-leaning news org, such as CBS, or NPR.
