President Bush has it about right
But he’s not telling the whole story; These are not Iraqi people attacking in Iraq. These are Muslim extremists from every country in the middle east. One of the monsters in that attack yesterday survived because his home-made bomb didn’t explode.
They found, among other things, a Syrian passport on him. and more of these bloodthirsty animals are showing up daily from outside the country.
There is certainly an issue in Iraq, but it has nothing to do with the Iraqi people.
Perhaps it should be pointed out that these people would all be attacking us, here in the states, were we not in Iraq. I wonder if anyone at the Detroit Clown convention (nee, debate) the other night has considered that possibility… other than, say, Joe Lieberman…

It’s a great movie, but come ON, guys….

AN influential Lebanese politician and leader of its Druze community triggered US outrage today when he expressed regret US Deputy Defence Secretary Paul Wolfowitz was unhurt in a Baghdad rocket attack.
“We hope the firing will be more precise and efficient (next time), so we get rid of this microbe and people like him in Washington who are spreading disorder in Arab lands, Iraq and Palestine,” Walid Jumblatt said in a statement.
Jumblatt, who is also the leader of the Progressive Socialist Party, called Wolfowitz a “friend of Ariel Sharon”, the hardline Israeli prime minister, “and one of the main architects of … the destruction of Iraq”.
Only one of two possibles here. Either the authors of the headline really didn’t read the story, ese the author did read the story and wanted to give the impression the US is pissed at Wolfowitz.

Apparently Carolyn MacCarthy has been posting a weblog of her delegation’s fact-finding trip into Iraq. Her comments are instructive about the truth over there, and therefore will be ignored by the rest of the Democrats…. particuarly those involved in that clownshow in Detroit last night. It’s apparent to me the whole lot of them showed up in one car.
Ironic, yet predictable… that it will also be ignored by the mainstream press that blogs are designed to route around.
Some interesting discussion, over on Marginal Revolution about the future of Blogging. Apparently the webmaster over there, Tyler Cowen, had Dinner with Glenn Renolds, the guy who runs INSTAPUNDIT. They
got into a discussion about the future of Blogging.
This is of interest, because of something Glenn reportedly remarked, and the Tyler reported:
“Blogs that offer too much of the author, and the author alone, are vulnerable to other blogs that cream-skim them, and other blogs, thereby offering the superior product. The question is not who can write the best stuff, but who can collect the best stuff, and comment on it most effectively.”
There’s a lot of discussion back and forth on this point. But one point, one link that many seem to be missing; Such skimming and commentary is exactly what makes Matt Drudge such a success in what he does. So this is not new in the blogging world… nor, as much of a success as Drudge has been, frankly, did it even start there. Such skimming and commentary didn’t start even on the web, but in radio talk shows, which pre-date blogs and pre-date the web, as well.
Come to think on it, if you want to go back further, consider the misinformation incidents we’ve seen in the past few years, in the mainstream press. What those incidents did is to expose the skimmers in the mainstream press. they’re all reading each other, instead of doing the legwork, which is exactly why operations like the NYT are so dangerous. They print something be it good info or bad, and everyone jumps on it. Think you that Jayson Blair stands alone in his ‘cirme’?
Now, I’m not immune to this; I tend to skim though a few thousand sources a day and write about what I see, and I often will link to the stories I write about. (Where would I be getting all this information, after all?) That kind of thing is what this Blog, and this website, has always been about; I simply write about what I see,a nd comment on it. Such could be called a service, if you consider that I’m filtering out a good deal of the noise level. That’s why you’re reading this today; you find some value in it. That some of me comes through in the bargain, I suppose could be considered good or bad. I’d like to think it was good, since without some level of personality, what the heck would you be doing here? Nothing to stand out in the crowd…
Is this kind of skimming, the future then, of Blogging? I don’t know. But it certainly is in it’s recent past, and in the past of the older mediums, as well. This stuff’s been here for decades. So, my advise to other bloggers on all of this: Quit the breast-beating and get on with it.

The real story of the last few years, at least in a political perspective – is that the Democrats seem to have lost their sense of direction. That factor is going to play very large in this next election, as it has the last few.
The increasingly nasty attacks on fellow Democrats and other parties alike, combined with a lack of direction reminiscent of headless chickens, leads one to understand just how desperate the plight of today’s Democrat has become.
But what brought them to this state of affairs? The reality of the results of liberal polices combined, ironically, with the triangulation politics of Bill Clinton.
To fully understand their plight, one needs to go back into the history of the last 50 or so years. … A history during which they dominated the American political scene..-when they WERE “The Man” that so many leftists were protesting against.
The claims of the Democrats superiority of foreign policy built at so high a cost in WWII, ended up taking it on the chin in Korea and Vietnam, ended utterly in the colapse of the Soviet Union under Ronald Reagan.
Their domestic policies as well, have been seen by all but the far left as an utter failure. Their claims of superiority vis-Ã -vis equal rights, sank into nothingness when Republicans started noting that the majority of those who voted for them were not Democrats… in fact that the majority of Democrats voted AGAINST the 64 civil rights act.
The Great Society unintentionally but inevitably exposed the Democrat’s mantra of using government handouts to lift all people as the fallacy it is… and this is a point we’re reminded of frequently as we pay for the loons used to create great society programs.
The Demand management that is Keynesian economics was exposed as fraud when it had it’s biggest impact under Jimmy Carter’s stagflation.
And finally, the claim to moral authority disappeared under the criminal behavior of Bill Clinton, and the all-out defense of his actions by the Democrat leadership.
Ironically, it all started really falling apart for Democrats as Bill Clinton was running against George Bush. Clinton and his advisers, (most notably Dick Morris) understood clearly that the Democrat’s traditional ideas and ideals had all been disproven in the public sphere.
So, what was needed was a mixture of their traditional stands on things, and some of the more moderate, and indeed, conservative ideas. Failure to so so would have certainly meant a loss for the Democrats in Bill Clinton.
That point, I think, contains the seeds of failure for the Democrats since Clinton left office. That’s because it was the point at which the Democrats began to understand that their positions on their traditional bread and butter issues no longer resonated with the voters. Most of that being because of the failures I’ve gone over above. Of course, the Democrats blaming the American people for the failures didn’t help them much either.
In any event, the Democrats at this point found themselves being moved away from their baseline, just to stay in the running at the voting booth. This has resulted in a split in the Democrat ranks, that has been more pronounced the last few years. This explains to a large degree how nasty the Democrats are getting with everybody, including each other.
That split between the comparative moderates like Joe Lieberman, and the Dennis “Moonbeam” Kucinich crowd, has resulted in the Democrats appearing that they don’t know what they want to be when they grow up. Which, in turn, results in them losing elections.
The result, then is that the Democrats are more desperate, and more shrill… increasingly so. Even John Kerry has publicly acknowledged the situation:

That fits. So are the candidates.
Of course the American people, if we can take recent polling data, and the California Recall as any indication, finally see all of this. And in the end, will give Republicans the reins, in record numbers, this next election.
