I spent some of this morning doing some housekeeping on the whole site. Regular readers will want to refresh their pages to get the look updated. Yeah, it’s small stuff, but the readership is increasing rather quickly… I like to put up a better look when company’s coming.
I’m still not happy with the look of the index page. Waiting for inspiration.
The bean counters were amazed last summer when it was revealed that California was losing people…. Leaving by the thousands… To the point where it outstripped the state’s birth rate… And the overall population actually went DOWN. Well, I think I know where they’ve all gone… Denver.
The Denver city council has decided to deal with what they see as ‘stress’ in their area…
Denver Ballot Initiative 101 would require city leaders to come up with ways to reduce stress in Denver. It poses the question: “Shall the voters of Denver adopt an ordinance to require the city to help ensure public safety by increasing peacefulness.”

Speaking of video and stress… I notice reports this morning that Oprah viewers are statistically far more likely to be stressed. Does anyone know her ratings in Denver, offhand, I wonder?
First, I notice this entry, describing how someone working as a contractor at Microsoft got canned because of the content of his blog.
Then I notice THIS entry, stating that Microsoft is making lots of noise about wanting to buy up Google.
THEN, I remember that Blogger, which hosts this blog, is owned these days, by Google.
And now, I become mildly concerned. Look, granted the guy got stupid, (as most MAC loyalists tend to do,when given the chance about their machines…) but only mildly so, and certainly not to the level of canning the guy. How much less are freebie services like Blogger going to be worth.. how much easier will the axe fall…. will not such services be under serious scrutiny if MS buys Google?
Guess my backup site had better be ready soon.
I’ve had some serious questions in my mind about France, in the past. I question no longer. One of the Aussie news services is reporting this morning:
Federal police say authorities have smashed an Australian terrorist cell linked to the French national Willie Virgile Brigitte, who they have confirmed has direct al-Qaeda connections. …. Mr Keelty said he did not know why it took French authorities almost five months to warn Australia of Brigitte’s terrorist links.
The French have opposed us at every turn in fighting these animals. Now why would they drag their feet on such reporting, I wonder?
Another bit you won’t see reported in the mainstream news…. and more bad news for the Democrats who were going to campaign on what they called a bad economy.
The 7.2 percent pace marked the best showing since the first quarter of 1984. It exceeded analysts’ forecasts for a 6 percent growth rate for third-quarter GDP, which measures the value of all goods and services produced within the United States
Translation: We’ve not seen this good a recovery since Ronald Reagan.
It’ll be interesting to see what the far left, and the news media, themselves mostly far left, will say about this.

SENATOR ZELL MILLER (D-Georgia) said today he will endorse President Bush for re-election in 2004 , and campaign for him if Bush wishes him to. Miller said Bush is “the right man at the right time” to govern the country.
Says Miller the next few years “will determine the kind of world my children and grandchildren will live in, ….This Democrat will vote for President Bush in 2004.”
Perhaps there is one good Democrat, after all. Only a few million to go.
I think it’s pretty clear that “environmentalists” are wrong on their deadly anti-human extremism. Seems one of their own has figured this ou, when Dianne Feinstein comes out publicly and supports President Bush.
Feinstein, D-Calif., came out on the floor of the Senate last night to urge passage of the Presdient’s Healthy Forests Restoration Act. All the pandering from the Democrats of the enviro wackos like the Sierra club and Earth First and so on, has finally come home to roost for the people of California. Is there any question, that the severity of these wildfires would have been reduced if proper forest management policies had been followed, instead of leaving all of this dry tinder standing… for the Kangarroo rat?

I wonder how many environmentalists homes have been lost in California in the last week”
Quietly, Fienstein has been getting the message.

And why do I call the Enviro-wacko crowd anti-human? Hows this? Due to their demands being followed, in this case, we have 20 people, and around 1000 homes so far, and higher tolls by the time you read this.

We are getting blamed by Kofi Annan for not providing UN HQ in Iraq with enough security to prevent the bombing of that HQ. Meanwhile, Moonbeam Kucinich is saying we should pull out of Iraq and the UN should be brought in; saying that they can do a better job. Check his website.

Guys, sunspots happen every 11 to 15 years.
I grew up hoping for a good sunspot cycle, so the radio bands would open up some, and give me the iincredibly long distance contacts typical in low VHF bands with scuh flare activity. But despite how these press releases on the subnspot cycles are being written, it’s as cyclical as the world turning. This is not a huge danger, or is it even out of the ordinary.
Personally, I’ll be listening the to ten meter band and below, which should be pretty good….
I was still chuckling over the showing ANSWER put up down in DC, versus what they claimed it was. Since I posted that link to Belligerent Bunny’s Blog yesterday, my mailbox has been chocked full of other examples from other places on the net. This one is among the best. It exposes answers long list of lies and distortions. I plan to use this stuff, myself.

On the downside, the Democratic Underground has a up a poll asking, “Did Bush Family Interests kill JFK?” Currently, 59 out of the 79 (75%) of people who have voted in this admittedly slanted poll have selected option 1, which is, “yes. Absolutely”.
On the upside, none of them have suggested that the “Bush Family Evil Empire” used a time machine, Illuminati connections, Hitler clones, or space based mind control rays to take out JFK. So I suppose that it could be worse…
