This bunch of people that Joe Biden would consider garbage, literally moved a mountainto create a road so that people affected by the storm could go home.

This is a job that the government said would take years to accomplish. The supposed experts said it would take even longer.

From the government’s viewpoint, the job was a failure.

I mean okay, the road was built quickly and all that, but how diverse was the crew? They didn’t worry about that. They actually fixed the road.

Did they give politicians the chance to demagogue the situation? No, they just fixed the road

Did we make sure that the crew was unionized? No, they just fixed the road.

I’m betting nobody bothered filing an environmental impact statement. Correct. They just fixed the road

I’m betting they weren’t concerning themselves with governmental guidelines about promoting inclusion. Again, correct, they just fixed the road.

Besos in trying to explain why no endorsement this go-round:

“Reality is an undefeated champion. It would be easy to blame others for our long and continuing fall in credibility (and, therefore, decline in impact), but a victim mentality will not help. Complaining is not a strategy. We must work harder to control what we can control to increase our credibility.

Presidential endorsements do nothing to tip the scales of an election. No undecided voters in Pennsylvania are going to say, “I’m going with Newspaper A’s endorsement.” None. What presidential endorsements actually do is create a perception of bias. A perception of non-independence. Ending them is a principled decision, and it’s the right one. Eugene Meyer, publisher of The Washington Post from 1933 to 1946, thought the same, and he was right.”

That’s an interesting little dance you’ve got going there, jeff.

(Shrug)

As Besos says, reality is the champion… But the thing is, he can only allow himself to internally acknowledge somewhat less than half of it.

The problem is not the perception of liberal bias in the supposed mainstream media, including the Washington Post, but the existence of it.

Unfortunately that’s a point that Besos hasn’t brought himself to recognize yet. If he ever will… And there’s serious doubt on that point. Indeed, one wonders what Besos believes he can control to alter that perception.

Us, it’s easy enough to suppose. Is every American having free speech part of his problem in his perception? That would certainly be of a piece with people like Joe Biden and Hillary Clinton seeking to control what they consider to be “disinformation”.

If nothing else this editorial of his is an indication that he recognizes that the mainstream media has lost control of the narrative.

This move does give us a clue as to what’s going on in his mind, however, on at least two points:

The first being, he knows the chances are that the horrible candidate that is Harris, is on a losing path electorally speaking. Give him credit for an accurate finger gauge in the breeze, at least.

The second is she will perform poorly in the office, assuming that she ever manages to attain it. In either event or both, as Bezos sees it, the credibility of the Washington Post gets besmirched thereby. Simply put, the non-endorsement is the owner protecting his investment.

What he refuses to allow himself to believe however, is that ship has already sailed, even before he took possession of it.

By the way the comment section on his editorial is amusing at least. Some 9,000 comments at my last viewing.

So why is anybody voting for Kamala Harris? The answers are widely varied, and often contradictory. In fact, the only reason that doesn’t contradict the others is that she isn’t Donald Trump. In fact her team’s campaign rhetoric at this point seems to focus on nothing else.

That seems an awfully weak bit of reasoning given the successes that Trump racked up in his first term, despite the Democrats tooth and nail opposition.

Some of the more problematic excuses that I have seen offered for not voting for Trump involve moral issues. Supposedly, Donald Trump is immoral being. This from a party who spent the last 50 years telling us how morality didn’t matter unless it was their morality, and who views the killing of children by way of abortion to be a noble, and, a moral act.

Of course, the people making that judgment seem to forget Harris being the side chick for at least two married men as she slept her way up the ladder. At the very least this would seem to weaken the morality argument.

Then there are the lies and the slight mistruths. She never, as she claimed, worked at McDonald’s. By the way… how bereft oflife experience does one need to be to have to lie about that as a part of your resume?

She is not African American has she claims.,. Which is a point that has been made by several African American commenters have made in conversation … And on their YouTube channel these last several days.

Then of course there is her current erstwhile husband, and the nanny. By the way we’ve never been told whatever happened to baby.

What’s the Democrats and their fellow travelers in the establishment GOP do not understand is that Trump supporters aren’t looking for perfection in office, they’re looking for the best deal for the country. Given the respective records of each candidate, come on Harris is not that choice.

I will remind the reader that back in 2016 Donald Trump was not my first choice, (at the time I preferred Ted Cruz)…but his performance in office was sufficiently good to remove what objections I had.

The truth is even assuming that I still had those objections, Donald Trump would still be the better deal in the choice we are about to make in this presidential go around.

Even a large number of Democrats are withholding their support from Harris, such as the LA Times, The Washington Post, the Teamsters Union and so on.

(The Teamsters are particularly interesting, because the lack of support for Harris stems from the voting process within the Union which overwhelmingly chose Trump as being worthy of their support. The leadership of the Union however refused. I can’t help but believe that move is going to cause some changes in the structure of the leadership of the Teamsters Union.

Thing is, that lack of support for Harris these last few weeks is becoming far more common then the Democrats would like you to believe.

Maybe it has something to do with the last 4 years?

Eric Florack on October 26th, 2024

So yesterday the news drops about how the Washington Post refuses to endorse Harris for president. They are of course only the most recent non-endorsement.

Supposedly, the excuse given is a return to the non endorsement of political candidates because they don’t want to be seen as biased.

Well, if that were really the reason for the non endorsement, I’d be cheering, especially given the overt bias we’ve all seen for the last 50 years and longer. But you and I both know what’s going on.

The Washington Post in particular along with the LA Times have in fact been the point on the spear of the anti-Trump movement, a position that they’ve held for over a decade now.

Harris, both as a candidate and as VP, have been such a disaster that the editorial board of the Washington Post simply cannot bring themselves to endorse her, despite their long-standing bias for the far left. That said, endorsing Donald Trump would be a tacit admission that they’ve been dead wrong all this time that they’ve been running interference for the apparently brain dead Joe Biden and the apparently alcohol impaired Harris.

What we’re really seeing here is intellectual and journalistic cowardice.

Not that anyone should be surprised by that.

Found elsewhere…

Fascism historically was “national socialism”—government control over much of the economy. By that definition, Democrats today are the national socialists—using regulation, mandates, law enforcement, and trillions of dollars in subsidies to coerce Americans to follow their dictates on climate and culture. Mr. Trump was a deregulator in his first term and promises to be more so in a second.

There is a difference between an education system and what we have now under the guidance of the federal government.

Back in 76, Jimmy Carter established the Federal department of education. Supposedly it was to improve our education systems.

What it’s done is to take us from being midpack worldwide in terms of test scores and pushed us to the bottom of that list.

The failures of our government- run education system are so obviously prevalent as to make statements about how education is improved under the control of the federal government laughable at best.

We’ve now reached a point in our National History where Johnny can’t read his diploma but he’s all over the subject of man-made climate change, and how evil capitalism and the white man are.

I believe it was Thomas Jefferson who observed that the natural state of government is growth. Certainly, the undue influence of the federal government and the educational system has grown over the years including those years prior to the establishment of the Federal department of education.

There are some who will argue that this takeover has not affected what are laughingly called higher education establishments. But let’s look closely at the ivy league as a prime example of the results of the federal government’s intrusion.

Since Woodrow Wilson infested the White House, we have gone from teaching Latin in what amounted to Junior high School, to teaching remedial English in what these days laughingly passes for college.

I’ve said it before and will say it again:

The worst mistake we ever made is a country, a culture, a people, was to turn the education of our young over the government.

Do you miss Hillary Clinton, yet?

No, I’m serious. After watching Kamala Harris stumble through this sort-of campaign of hers, and particularly the interview on Fox News,

I am now convinced that Hillary Clinton is no longer the worst presidential candidate in history.

Even the Democrats understand that interview was an unmitigated disaster. If it was anything else they’d be singing her praises instead of going after Brett Baer as they’ve been doing for the last couple days.

Even without Tampon Tim Walz on the ticket, and even with the supposed mainstream media doing everything they can to drag the cackler over the finish line, the gag reflex is going to tip the scales toward Donald Trump. In fact,if you look at the polling numbers these days, it’s already happening.

Clinton’s politics were abysmal, and her arrogant criminality repulsive… But at least she had a certain level of competence in the political realm where she actually sounded like she might have a clue. She didn’t, of course, but at least she could sound like it, at need.

With this pair there is no such competence, not even a bit of it.

The stench of political death around this pair is so strong that even traditional Democrat groups like teamsters, and many other unions are running in the opposite direction.

And did you notice the full on support Trump got from the border patrol? You would think that the supposed border czar would have had that endorsement wrapped up. I guess, being the racists … Even the black members…that they are they’re judging her by her actual performance in the role.

She might have if they had kept her in the basement. Thing is, her team made the oh so serious mistake of letting her open her mouth in public.

It is interesting and amusing to watch Democrats come to the realization that despised as she was and is, Hillary Clinton would have made a better candidate than Kamala Harris. (Okay, let’s be honest, that’s not all that much of a hurdle. Still…)

Perhaps that realization explains the three assassination attempts on Donald Trump. Despite the best efforts of the deep state, the lap dogs in the mainstream media, all of the vote manipulation that we’ve seen the last several elections, those assassination attempts are evidence that none of it worked, this time.

The conclusion drawn is simple enough… Democrats now understand the only way they’re going to win this thing is with Trump assuming room temperature.

So now the Democrats are getting a refresher course on why she has never in her life gotten more delegates in the Democrat presidential primaries than I have.

I am reminded of Ronald Reagan’s victory over Jimmy Carter where the polls were showing that the election was a very close one indeed, until about two weeks before the election itself… at which point things suddenly shifted. There wasn’t any particular event causing that sudden shift other than perhaps the realization that if the data being released wasn’t more in line with reality, the supposed experts were going to have a few truckloads of egg on their faces.

I said so at the time, too.

Sorry but I can’t help with think that’s at least part of what we see going on here and now.

It’s a little late now, Democrats, but you know… perhaps competency in your candidate would have helped things along. Just a thought.

As a parting shot, Hillary Clinton lost large. Her defeat was nothing short of epic. Another candidate who isn’t even up to that standard, will by the very nature of the thing, lose larger.

Will that reality check move the Democrat faithful to reconsider their positions? Probably not.

So says Bill Clinton about the murder of Laken Riley.

Video:

He’s correct of course. But you’ve got to wonder if there aren’t a lot of Democrats working against Kamala Harris’election.

Eric Florack on October 14th, 2024

Democrats, given a microphone, will loudly demonize white men and blaming them for all of society’s ills.

Then, after literally decades of this, they spend six months drinking beer and posing with rifles (while hilariously, Elmer Fudd style, mishandling those rifles) in a desperate attempt to win their vote.

One is reminded of Lamar Alexander, in his failed presidential run, suddenly discovering flannel shirts (stiffly starched and pressed, of course) while trying to pass as John Everyman. I swear he was the only guy who could take flannel and make it look like he was wearing a suit.

It didn’t work for Walz, either.

Thanks Charlene Crowder Helton for posting this. Truth on the ground is more valid than the lying and fake news media and the talking FEMA head!!
Keith Stafford, in a comment on the WH post regarding relief/aid for Hurricane Helene victims, states it perfectly. Here is what he said:
“I don’t know which spins harder. The hurricane or the media spin about it. We are in both the hurricane and the political season. Lots of wind blowing. And predictably, what was covered and what was ignored is telling.
“One day after the storm hit, Trump was on the ground in Georgia. He brought truckloads of needed supplies and a tanker of gasoline. All at his own expense. He anted up $4M of his own money. He got his supporters to raise another $36 to match him. Trump got his buddy Elon to donate his Skynet service to the affected areas. Predictably, the national media largely ignored his efforts. But they covered Kamala who was at a San Fransisco fundraiser. And Biden, who was lounging at a Delaware beach.
“Meanwhile, Western North Carolina was devastated. 4 days in, a Florida helicopter pilot was furious. He and 39 other helo pilots were flying relief flights into the western hills of the state. They would fly in supplies and fly out those they rescued. One he flew out was an 11-day old baby in need of neonatal care. FEMA did a press conference on the event. And had the audacity to claim credit for it! The pilot was furious. 40 private helicopters were doing the work at their own expense. Only 2 state choppers had joined them. FEMA has no air lifts in place.
“A federal spokesperson did an interview. She announced that all locals in need of help should get on their computers and put their request for help online at ‘www/gov. com’! Whatta twit. People need water, food, medical supplies, the basics. NOT a website! And it is the churches and communities themselves that are stepping up,…NOT FEMA.
“Mayorkas just announced that FEMA is almost out of money. Where did it go? $1.1B got diverted by our Border Czar to fly 500,000 Hattian illegals into the US. Once here, she used her magic wand to declare them as “legal refugees”. They were shipped to red states. But now there’s no money to care for Americans in dire emergent need. Any publicity on this from the mainstream media? Of course not. The political media spin,… is more deadly than a category 4 hurricane.”
I couldn’t have summarized it any better than he did. Trust in those who are boots on the ground, running actual rescues and bringing in vital supplies, giving medical care and assistance where needed instead of believing the media hype and spin that serves only one purpose. To keep you from learning the truth! . . . . and to add insult to injury: Authorities shut down air space over NC so that China Joey and Kamalabama can tour the area, thus stopping all rescue missions that individuals were doing.
The main media will only air what has been scripted by those who own them and who benefit from the lies/subterfuge!!!
. . . . and please share with …E.V.E.R.Y.O.N.E… so that voters can know BEFORE NOVEMBER the difference between those who address problems vs. those who create problems (and create pain and suffering whilst they gaslight us to death).

Erikson;

“The real scandal about Hurricane Helene is not the made up stories with no evidence. The real scandal is this:

September 26 — Helene Makes Landfall

September 27 — Devastation in North Carolina

September 28 —

September 29 —

September 30 —

October 1 —

October 2 — President Biden mobilizes the military

October 3 — Mobilization of 500 soldiers begins

October 4 —

October 5 — Mobilization of 500 more soldiers for search and rescue.

Those blank days are days when people were dying in the mountains.

And the media tells us everything is fine.”

Correct.
And let’s leave aside for the moment the reports of what FEMA is actually doing on the ground. Let’s ignore the confiscated supplies, let’s ignore the extensive video we have seen of military choppers destroying a emergency supply center. Let’s ignore the threats of arrest for the act of helping people without clearing it with government bureaucrats.

True, all of those are valid complaints, but they also come after those assets were finally deployed by this administration. That’s the first point.

And in fairness, FEMA is a serious problem under any administration. They are so hamstrung by their own regulations and procedures that it’s amazing they help any individuals at all. Governor DeSantis has this one right.

“We prepared for the hurricane. We learned in Florida long ago: we don’t rely on FEMA to do any of that type of activity, we rely on FEMA to be basically just a bank account. There are programs in place, we get our people qualified… but we take the matters into our own hands for preparation, rescue, and response, and I just think it is sad,” he said.

Then again I will quietly point out that charity is the act of the individual, not of government. Helping people in storm ravaged areas is an act of charity. Which of itself would explain why FEMA is so ineffective.

Erikson’s second point about the media is made all the more potent by the history of other administrations in reaction to such storms, and the supposed mainstream media reporting on each. If there were a Republican in the White House right now (of any stripe), the press would be all over this like a storm soaked t-shirt. But of course there’s a Democrat in the white house and they have pretty much ignored the incompetence this administration has shown.

Alas, that we are about to see destruction happen in Florida this time. Painful, certainly, but it will be interesting to watch the trends of the state and federal governments actions after the storm passes.

Mark me on this, you and I both know that the Democrats are going to be cheating again in the coming election..But understand this. The Democrats are looking at that crowd of 80,000 plus people that showed up in Wildwood and the huge crowds in Butler over the weekend,it is finally occurring to them that there comes a point and which cheating, even to the degree that we discovered since the last election isn’t going to get the job done. The panic is quite evident.Add to that, the cases being tried against Trump in Florida in Georgia and in New York are both individually and collectively collapsing. Everything the Democrats do to this guy blows up in their faces and they simply don’t know how to deal.Well, given the two assassins, perhaps that’s the next level of throwing the election, huh?And no I wouldn’t put it past them.

More random thoughts as they occur:

# It appears that after the Hurricane hit, the cleanup involves gasoline and diesel fuel to cleanup the mess. Not windmills or solar panels. And conspicuously absent from the herd of power line service trucks, are EVs.

# Personally, I’m not as worried about hurricane Helene and it’s aftermath, I’m more worried about hurricane Kamala.

# Tampon Tim got his backside handed him. It wasn’t a debate it was a slaughter. No two ways about it. My prediction of the other day held up rather nicely. In other words, SITYS.

# I see Democrats telling us that they’re not going to vote for Trump because they accused him of being a racist. (Demonstrably false) And yet they’re willing to vote for somebody who tells us that she’s black when in fact she is of Indian descent. Why would she do that unless she thought there was some kind of political advantage?

# When you see the federal government arresting people for helping flood victims, you understand that the Federal government is out of control
