Meet the new socialist in town, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a/k/a AOC,
from CNN:

Because of her national stardom derived from her stunning upset primary victory over Rep. Joe Crowley, D-New York, everything she does will be watched and scrutinized to death. (And apparently everything she wears too. On Thursday, a media reporter for the Washington Examiner tweeted a picture of Ocasio-Cortez in which she is wearing a business suit with the caption “that jacket and coat don’t look like a girl who struggles.” His tweet provoked, um, quite the reaction on the Internet.)
2) Unlike most new members if Congress who quickly seek to adapt themselves to Washington’s ways in hopes of ingratiating themselves to leaders and climbing the leadership ladder, Ocasio-Cortez represents something very different: Her roots are in activism, not politics. And she seems to have very little concern as to how her willingness to buck the Way Things Are Done Around Here will have on her career in Congress.

Washington is a company town.    If AOC wishes to dethrone the Queen Bee, Nancy Pelosi, she  had best not fail.   Pelosi and her caucus bear grudges, and they wear them forever.

Aristotle was the one that brought the concepts of virtue and thereby right and wrong to the fore.

It was Alexander the Great, (who was probably Aristotle’s best-known student) who gave those concepts practical application.

Now while those concepts as Aristotle laid out came very close to the truth, the trouble was, he never had anything to hang those concepts of right and wrong on. Aristotle had no concept of a higher power in his philosophies. He understood that anything created by man can be and usually is, destroyed by man.

And since in his philosophy there was no God, it ended up being that there was no morality, either. Certain men began to be perceived as Gods. Great cities were built. Great accomplishments, great power….but you have no morality, no right and wrong, eventually you end up with no great cities, no great culture, because metaphorically there was no Foundation under the building.

It was the Hebrews who brought the idea of a higher power forward. A lawgiver. The concept that there was a being more powerful than men.

Those those two concepts are at the basis of Western Society, Western culture, and that melding of philosophies resulted in America.

I have stated several times over the years in these spaces that an America simply could not be created without those two philosophies being at the root of it.

Can you, for example, imagine in America created with Islam as its philosophical root? I certainly cannot. Any of the pantheistic cultures? We both know better. Atheism? No. The fact is we would never have lasted as long as we have absent the judeo Christian ethic.

Now, which party was it that booed God at their political convention, again? Which party is it that struggles to remove the influence of the judeo Christian model, from our society, from our culture, and even indirect moral assumptions in our government?

I have a friend who takes great pride in fighting for freedom. He is inherently suspicious of government… He’s a very Freedom minded individual. I have great respect for him, particularly for his thought processes.

He points out however that of themselves those things, the Constitution, the concepts of Freedom, the Bill of Rights and so on are fragile… that anything that is written by men can be erased by men. In this he includes the Constitution the Bill of Rights and the concept undergirding them. And he’s quite correct, so far as he goes.

What he refuses to reckon with however is that the concepts invoked in those documents and which are at the basis of our culture, are inspired by the judeo-christian ethic, and only functional within that environment…. the concept that there is a power higher than man. Because he is an atheist, he has never identified why we hold “these truths to be self-evident”. That entire concept was based on the judeo Christian way of thinking about morality. Remove that foundation and the building will fall.

And who can look around us today and tell me that’s not precisely what’s been happening?

When Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans, the media meme was that is was all President Bush(43)’s fault.   Yet, my question was, and is, who are the stupid fools who build New Orleans below sea level.   Now that much of California is engulfed in forest fires, California Governor Moonbeam, b/k/a Jerry Brown, is now blaming so-called global warming.

Given that forest fires in California are neither more common,  nor destroy more acreage, than prior to 1940, forest fires are not the real problem, from Climate Deport:

California Governor Jerry Brown is blaming “climate deniers” for more California’s devastating wildfires despite the overwhelming scientific evidence that wildfires are not historically worse or caused by “global warming.” See:

Jerry Brown: Climate-Change Deniers ‘Definitely Contributing’ to the ‘New Abnormal’ of Wildfires– California Gov. Jerry Brown said all climate-change deniers are “definitely contributing” to the fatal wind-whipped wildfires that have pummeled northern and southern parts of the state over the past few days, as well as blazes “in the coming years.”

The problem with Katrina was not that some land got flooded. The problem was that the land occupied by New Orleans got flooded. Likewise the problem isn’t that California forestland has been burnt, and continues to burn. The problem that land containing high value real estate is being destroy. The United States does not have a problem with global warming. California has a problem with stupid zoning laws.

Good questions about the caravan invasion, via Mary Chastain, Legal Insurrection:

“What we do know is this thing cost millions and millions of dollars. The mainstream media, and there are so many layers [of] onions to peel back, it’s hard to know where to begin. One of the lies the fake news if you will, media is trying to propagate is the fact that all this weird organic thing and all the water and the food and medicine, all dropped from … manna from heaven. It’s bologna. It’s all highly organized. It’s paid for by a number of organizations, we don’t know exactly where the money is coming from.”

View from on the ground in Mexico, video:

This  is not a caravan.  It is an invasion.  An army travels on its stomach and this army has a big stomach.

Suggestion to President Donny, deduct our costs for dealing with the invasion from our due to the United Nations.

Oh, now this is rich…

Attorney Michael Avenatti was arrested Wednesday in Los Angeles on suspicion he committed felony domestic abuse, according to multiplemedia outlets.

Avenatti, who has represented a variety of odd characters in disputes with prominent conservatives—including Stormy Daniels and Julie Swetnick—is divorced. He was reportedly involved in some kind of altercation with his ex-wife, and she filed a police report. He is in custody and awaiting booking, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Matt Margolis meanwhile, wonders aloud if Avenatti deserves the presumption of innocence.

Keep in mind that several people were touting this guy as a possible 2020 presidential candidate on the Democrat line.

And I can’t help but picture this moron making his one phone call… While back in Washington Brett Kavanaugh is having himself a beer.

So now I see Germany’s Angela Merkel making noises similar to France’s Marcon just so that she can once insult Donald Trump. She wants to see a European Army as well, she says.

Ponder this question seriously…Given the influx of Islam in both France and Germany to say nothing of England, one wonders how many of the soldiers in this new Army will be Islamic? Do these morons understand the threat that this represents to themselves and remainder of the world?

Speaking of England, Michael Yon looks at that and says:

Britain backs down in the face an of enemy who smells fear

This is a stark acknowledgement that Britain has given sanctuary and citizenship to enemies whose strength it fears.

Anyone who would imprison and kill a woman for the alleged crime of blasphemy should be considered an enemy of civilization.

And yet here is the UK, blinking in the face of growing tyranny within its own borders. Blood in the water.

Backing down to mob rule.

Accepting sharia as the law of the land.

Will British just give them the keys? Will British fight for Britain, or be bred and voted out of relevancy?

Poland and Japan are not burdened with these decisions.

And that’s what’s happening all over Europe. It’s a little late to be raising your own armies, you idiots. The enemy is already inside the gates.

Of course that makes the Assumption this wasn’t the plan all along. And you know, I’m beginning to wonder about that one.

So now the CNN cry babies are complaining that Jim Acosta’s career is over.

Well, boo hoo. He deserved it.First of all you’re not the news, the news is. That’s step number one being a news person. His ego got in his way on that one.

Then getting abusive to the White House staffer on video? Absolutely stupid. Particularly from somebody that has been supposedly champion of women’s rights and so on.

I’ve even heard a number of people today complaining Trump removed his press pass because he didn’t like where the questions were going.

Let’s nip that one right now. His questions are no more or less frantic, obnoxious, one sided, conspiracy laden claptrap than they have been since the beginning. If Trump had wanted to remove Jim Acosta from the White House Press Corps because of the kind of questions that he was asking, he could have done so along time ago and probably should have. As it is, Acosta was given enough rope to hang himself with. And Acosta obliged.

As it stands, CNN can’t use him, nor can any of the other left-leaning networks. His political Pursuits have turned them into the ultimate pariah.

Good riddance to bad rubbish.

but don’t shed any tears for him. I’m sure the next Democrat president will welcome him back to the White House, after all he’s so dependable in defending Democrats.

A few more notes from the passing parade;

# Reynolds:

IMAGINE THAT: Surprise! “Man” Who Insulted Tucker Carlson’s Daughter as a “Whore” and a “C**t” Is… On the Board of Directors of the “Women’s Initiative.”

Yeah, well, it’s been going on for some time now. I have always said that the overt going to the feminist left that we’ve all seen really wasn’t about women at all but about leftist power. This is merely one more in a series of Clues to that effect.

# CNN, Acosta, Etc, Does nobody Remember When Obama was revoking White House Press passes? Once again, selective outrage rules the day.

Speaking of which: I’ve been publishing political observations for about as long as Acosta has been out of diapers. What do you suppose would happen if I went to the White House today and claimed that qualified me for a White House Press pass? …That I had a constitutional right to a White House Press pass?

# Sorry, I’m not buying that one either. For almost a week we were told global warming was responsible for what was going on out in California. When that one that one deservedly went down in flames, so to speak, as expected, the rumor started getting spread that the culprit was Sparks being set off by PS & G power stations. Sorry, that’s just too damn convenient. I’m not buying that either. There is one reason and one reason only why California is in the state it’s in right now…. As I explained graphically yesterday, forest mismanagement in the first degree. Everything else you hear is mere excuses. California has always had fires, always been hot, always been dry… there have always been minor electrical issues out there, for as long as there’s been electricity. and of course the one excuses they haven’t come up with yet in this case is that the fires were intentionally set. They’ve done that before, too. Here’s the thing; The issue isn’t what starts the fires …the issue is why they can’t be controlled once they get started… and that as I say comes down to Forest management or in the case of California, mismanagement. Workable solutions to a problem, require problem identification. We Can’t Stop California fires. They’ve been occurring out there for thousands of years. What needs to happen is proper management of the situation.

So who made her the expert? I was amused in the extreme to learn that Michelle Obama is saying that Mrs. Trump never reached out to her for advice on how to be FLOTUS. Maybe she figured you weren’t doing all that good a job at it, Michelle. And guess what? I tend to agree.

# I would give serious money to watch Maxine Waters compete on Jeopardy with Ocasio-Cortez, and a fifth grader. Even money, the fifth grader would win.

# I’m not one to kick a man when he’s down. But then again, John Kerry isn’t a man…

# Married to a hologram? I guess that’s kind of like the relationship between the Democrat Party and their Rank and file. There’s nothing real there to base a relationship on.

# Well according to the news, they managed to steal a senate seat out there in Arizona. Fox News even suggesting that they managed to flip it from Republican to Democrat. Apparently even Fox News has forgotten that we were dealing with Jeff Flake, out there. That in my mind doesn’t constitute a flip to Democrats. In reality, that seats been held by a Democrat for many years.

# Governor Moonbeam once again proves what an insufferable loser he is. And then he invokes p the global warming lie to try and weasel his way out of responsibility for not doing his job. I’m truly sorry for the problems Californians are facing but the fact of the matter is it’s their own politics that got them into this mess… And it’s not like they weren’t repeatedly warned what would happen. At what point did it become our responsibility to bail them out when they were told repeatedly what would happen if they pursued the policies that they pursued? In my view, the federal government should not be funding California’s abject stupidity any longer.

Trump, as it happens is sending emergency funding out there. He shouldn’t be. They made their bed, let them lie in it. (I told you several times previously that when Trump screws up I roast him. Here’s one such occasion. ) Now, before you start telling me about how cruel am, how cruel is it to be stealing money from the rest of the country when you were warned that your policies would cause these problems? Makes about as much sense as building your dream home on alive volcano, and then demanding the federal government bail you out when you end up with red hot magma in the master bedroom. And no, leftists. Your climate change Mantra is always does not fit the reality of the situation. This stuff has been going on for thousands of years, literally. what’s changed is that you idiots decided you wanted to declare what was natural and what wasn’t.

# Oh and before I forget… Let’s Ponder this question; are the massive California fires God’s revenge for CA voting Democrat? I mean, weren’t we told just a few short weeks ago that hurricanes are Trump’s fault for pulling out of bogus Paris Climate Accord?

Eric Florack on November 11th, 2018

# Given what we have seen of vote corruption and the willingness of Democrats to break the law to get their way, I question the notion that Hillary Clinton actually won the popular vote.

# American Conservative says facism and socialism have always been kissing cousins. I tend to agree. So does history.

# Scott Walker, with the narrow margin of loss, could have raised 9 kinds of hell in the courts and dragged the thing out for the next few months. Could have. But didn’t. Now observe what’s going on in Florida Arizona and Georgia. Do you see the difference?

#In Texas, the white folks who voted for the Hispanic guy there, are being called “racist” by supporters of the Irish Hispanic wannabe. I can’t write this stuff. It writes itself.

# Ocasio-Cortez Butt-Hurt Because of “I Can’t Afford D.C. Rent”.. Laughable and deserving of scorn. No question that it’s expensive in DC, but it’s also expensive in Astoria Queens and Long Island where she grew up. (It’s almost that expensive in the Bronx, where she actually grew up, her claims not withstanding. ) Is this the first rent she’s ever had to pay? If so, who was in fact paying her way all this time? Moreover, the woman’s politics, and that if those supporting her, lead directly to those high prices. Then again, no worries. Given Democrat history in government, she’ll be worth millions in 6 months. maybe she can get Dianne Feinstein and Nancy Pelosi to take her under their wings and show her how to do it.

Eric Florack on November 10th, 2018

So Jeff Flake is considering running against Donald Trump.

As usual the opponents of Trump still haven’t figured out why he was elected. Flake, the establishment guy, going against the guy who got elected because of the rank-and-file anger with the establishment.

Well, nobody ever said Jeff Flake was smart.

Personally, I’m prepared for this one.

With regard to Thousand Oaks, and the steady drumbeat coming from the idiots about “reasonable gun control”…
Very few people will argue that California is not the most left-leaning state in the nation. Presumably the existing gun laws in California, which are the strictest anti-gun legislation in the entire country, are considered reasonable by the left-leaning voters there.
And yet, this happened.
So the lesson by any reasonable standard would be that there are some things that laws cannot cure. Particularly when they’re not even applied.

So essentially, what we have here is a failure of government. You know, the government we’re supposed to be so dependent upon.

Eric Florack on November 9th, 2018

Is anyone surprised that Democrats are suddenly “finding” boxes of mystery ballots in every close Senate race? And should I be suspicious not only of that timing but of the fact that the sudden finds never seem to benefit anything but the Democrats? How is it that these sudden finds are found in an area where Democrats have easy access to them?

Addendum, Eric

I’m seeing reports that Stacey Abrams is sending out robocalls, which suggests that if you haven’t turned in your provisional ballots, you should do so now. This, well after the election.

🤔Almost like this was planned.

Oh, and then Florida,As of 9/30/18, Broward County Florida has 1,167,982 Registered voters.
They turned in 1,284,780 Ballots. THAT’S 110% Particiaption.

Do you know… I think we may have figured out where the extra Democrat voters came from?

It comes down to this:

( Matthew Whitaker, Useless Toady, op-ed, 7:45 p.m. EDT July 5, 2016)

Director Comey’s judgment was that “no reasonable prosecutor” would bring the case. I disagree. I believe myself to have been a reasonable prosecutor, and when the facts and evidence show a criminal violation has been committed, the individuals involved should not dictate whether the case is prosecuted.

So, in short, the Democrats are upset that Hillary Clinton might actually have to pay for her crimes.

Moreover, they are deeply concerned that the myths that they have promoted so long as regards Robert Mueller, and his essentially being an insuperable part of government is now in serious question.

Witness the first words out of the mouth of Chuck Schumer:

“Given his previous comments advocating defunding and imposing limitations on the Mueller investigation, Mr. Whitaker should recuse himself from its oversight for the duration of his time as acting attorney general,” Schumer said in a statement.

Clearly the Democrats are frightened to death that the one thing that they floated their future on, the illusion that there was some sort of conspiracy between Vladimir Putin and the Trump team, is going to be evaporated from under them.

Muller has been going for two years now, and has basically come up with absolutely nothing. The Democrats have been operating from a busted flush since the beginning and that is being exposed here.

The reality of this situation is that Robert Mueller is in effect, a contractor to the justice department. Nothing more. But of course he does have the advantage of being the guy that ran the samples of uranium to the Russians under then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. No, no conflict of interest here. Move on, citizen.

True, Rod Rosenstein is his boss but that’s not going to last very long in my view, ( he should have been gone the moments that Donald Trump took office) and Acting Director Whittaker is the boss of both of them.

Robert Mueller’s purview as laid out in the original authorization written by Obama syncopant Rod Rosenstein gives Mueller purview to chase down Avenues of Investigation directly related to the charge of collusion with Russia. However, Muller has spent the majority of his time outside of that purview, clearly and desperately seeking something/anything to help the Democrats politically. both Muller and Rosenstein are Democrat political operatives in reality, regardless of the title.

This insanity should have ended a long time ago, and most likely will, now that Jeff Sessions is no longer in the top spot at DOJ.

Also, I’m seeing indications Rod Rosenstein will get his pink slip within the next two weeks. What really upsets the Democrats here of course, is that Acting Director Whittaker gets to make that call, not Senate Democrats, no matter how much they whine like babies.

That means of course that, as I say, their Russia collusion thing gets exposed as a busted flush, and Hillary Clinton and a lot of her supporters are going to be spending serious time enjoying the Glorious accommodations at the vertical bar Hotel.

And speaking of Hillary Clinton…You know what’s interesting…. I don’t remember Charles Schumer calling for then attorney general Loretta Lynch to recuse herself from the Clinton email investigations.

I can’t imagine for the life of me why he’d be calling for such things now.

(/Sarc)

* If I’m reading these statistics correctly, it takes slightly more than 80 million dollars to brainwash the entire state of Texas.

* Apparently, believing the Survivor has its costs.

* Moveon.org who ironically has not been able to move on from the loss of Hillary Clinton’s presidential run, and who is funded by George Soros, is apparently planning protests around the country against the firing of Jeff Sessions. Apparently, they know their narrative is in serious trouble.

* Attention Jim Acosta You’re not a journalist… in any sense of the word….you’re a petulant child in need of a serious spanking.

* Ruth Buzzi Ginsburg Falls, breaks three ribs. It’s long past time for her to go, but the bottom line is she won’t because she recognizes that an actual constitutional original list will take her place.

* We always knew this was going to happen, and in fact I wrote about it here… You can forget the Democrats trying to work with the Republicans. the only time Democrats are worried about bipartisanship is when it helps them maintain their power. Jerry Nadler lets slip that the Democrats will be the party of obstruction. Somehow I don’t think this is going to play all that well for them, and the signs of that are in the numbers of this most recent midterm election.

*I’m watching with interest as the story out in Thousand Oaks California develops.  I am left with the observation is that for an inordinately long period of time, we were not getting any information whatsoever about the identity of the shooter or their motives.

We have seen so often in the past where this information gets buried so answer protective political Viewpoint or the religion of Peace which essentially is the same thing, that I become instinctively suspicious when that information is not immediately forthcoming. I doubt I’m alone in that. And, no, you’re right. I don’t trust the media in these matters and I particularly don’t trust the government in California, with both of those factors, mistrust is a given.

* Did you know that the United States is producing a record amount of crude oil at this point? It kind of slipped past most of the media who are focused on restoring what they consider to be the proper order of things politically. But guess what? With that amount of oil coming out of our wells,we can play hardball with places like Iran, and for that matter the rest of OPEC. Which is probably why you haven’t heard much about it. They would just as soon we didn’t.
