So the General Motors answer to the East German Trabant, the Chevy volt, is no more. With yesterday comes the news that they’re discontinuing that and it’s stablemate the Chevy Cruze…
Of course this is the car that Obama promised to buy… And then bought many thousands of them, with your money, in an effort to promote the thing.
Leaving aside arguments about its lack of build quality which believe me I’m sympathetic to, the fact of the matter is this thing was powered by coal. Coal that, of course it’s Chief promoter, Barack Hussein Obama, had declared war on.
The real story here of course is government-mandated fuel economy, a subject I’ve written of previously.
The real problem of course is the governmental “too big to fail” complex, along with a certain Democrat Party affection for unions in the most they bring in when their backs get scratched, as the UAW certainly did in this case.
Now, of course, reality has begun to set in. Nobody’s buying the cars the government wants them to buy… the build quality is absolute garbage, you can’t fit a family into those things, the reason that they were built in the first place has turned out to be a complete farce that is global warming. If you don’t what I’m saying please take note of the idea that Ford did the same thing a few months ago…. The only cars that are going to survive this purge in the Ford line are the mustang and trucks.
Put simply the American car manufacturers cannot survive with the business being redesigned as the Obama Administration and the Democrats in Congress redesigned it this is precisely what I’ve been saying since 2009… And the reality of it all has finally taken hold.
Next step? American car makers refusing to sell their vehicles in the people’s republic of California. I’m telling you, it’s going to happen.
From Daily Caller:
In the event that Republican Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith wins the Mississippi runoff election on Nov. 27, the makeup of the Senate Judiciary Committee will shift in favor of the GOP, with a seat currently held by a Democrat flipping red. Consequently, the most junior Democratic member of the committee, will likely be squeezed out.
“Not only would it be unconscionable to remove the only African American woman from the committee, but Senator Harris also is the most skilled questioner on the entire panel,” Brian Fallon, the former press secretary for Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign, said according to The Washington Post. “Whatever options they need to consider, removing Harris should not be one of them.”
[…]
Democrats have been urging Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to expand the Judiciary Committee so that Harris can preserve her seat, however, no other Senate Judiciary Committee members thus far have offered up their own seats so that she can remain on the committee, including Blumenthal.
It would seem if Kamala Harris is but only half as bright as Mrs. Clinton spokesman Brian Fallon suggests then a more senior but less gifted democrat member of the Senate Judiciary committee would be more than willing to voluntarily step aside in deference to Harris superior gift and for the good the party. Their plenty of not so gifted democrat senators on the committee. I am looking at you, Diana Feinstein, Cory Booker, Patrick Leahy and Dick Blumenthal. How can such senators fail to recognize and cede to such a political bright light?
The dying gasp of Government Motors, GM to end production of most sedans, from Detroit News:
Production stoppages at five General Motors Co. plants signal that the automaker — like its U.S. rivals — will stop building most sedans and small cars.
On the chopping block are six four-door GM cars following the automaker’s decision announced Monday to idle three assembly plants and two transmission plants in efforts to save $6 billion by 2020. The Buick LaCrosse, Chevrolet Impala, Cruze and Volt, and Cadillac CT6 and XTS will no longer be produced when GM’s Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly, Lordstown Complex and Oshawa Assembly plants go dark next year.
Memo to the media, Mitt Romney, for once, was right. Bailing out General Motors was not a very good idea.
Note to the American tax payers, the United Auto Workers took you to the cleaners.
Note to Dumbo, b/k/a Barack Obama, should have listened to Mitt, from BreitBart:
Six years ago, President Barack Obama promised to buy a Chevy Volt after his presidency.
“I got to get inside a brand-new Chevy Volt fresh off the line,” Obama announced to a cheering crowd of United Auto Workers activists. “Even though Secret Service wouldn’t let me drive it. But I liked sitting in it. It was nice. I’ll bet it drives real good. And five years from now when I’m not president anymore, I’ll buy one and drive it myself.”
Now it looks like Obama will not get his chance to make good on the promise. General Motors announced Monday that it would cease production of the hybrid electric plug-in Volt and its gas-powered sister car the Cruze.
[…]
Obama, who once described the manufacture of these cars as “jobs of the future,” could not be reached for comment.
In a free market, companies have to produce what the public is willing to buy. In a Bernie Sanders, socialist, economy, companies produce what the government tell them to.
Some things never change. Paging Marie Antoinette. Let them eat cake:
Anti-government protesters clashed with French police on the Champs-Elysees in Paris on Saturday, leaving the famed avenue shrouded in tear gas on another day of demonstrations against President Emmanuel Macron.
Some of France’s top political scientists say the grievances expressed by the protesters show the hallmarks of a populist movement, representing a rejection of the country’s out-of-touch elite.
The anger centers around a hike in the diesel fuel tax, which has gone up seven euro cents per liter — nearly 30 cents per gallon — and will keep climbing in coming years, according to Transport Minister Elisabeth Borne. The tax on gasoline is also to increase four euro cents. Currently, gasoline costs roughly 1.64 euros a liter in Paris — $7.06 a gallon — which is slightly more than diesel.
Hat tip, Robert, Small Dead Animals.
Private jets for the anointed elite. Ox carts for the peasants.
AOC, b/k/a Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez rips a page out of Algore’s playbook. Refresh me Eric, when did Algore’s latest doomsday scenario expire? From Hill:
Rep.-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) called on the U.S. to act “urgent[ly]” after a report from the federal government found that climate change is expected to have an enormous impact on the country in the near future.
[…]
“People are going to die if we don’t start addressing climate change ASAP,” wrote Ocasio-Cortez on Friday following the report’s release. “It’s not enough to think it’s ‘important.’ We must make it urgent.”
We must believe AOC. After all she is collage educated economist who was working as a bar tender. She not like Algore who flunked out of seminary school.
So I open Facebook the other day and get an example of leftist idiocy on guns….
32 people sick from romaine lettuce, all lettuce taken off store shelves nationwide. Over 30,000/year dead from guns—nothing!
To which I respond:
The difference is probably accounted for by the fact that very few people use lettuce as a method of self-defense.
Idiots.
So now we see Muller is trying to involve Julian Assange and Wikileaks into the Russian collusion story. This is desperation on stilts.
Is revealing in their own words how corrupt the Democrats are… (and then letting the voters decide how to respond to that information)… collusion with a foreign power, or is it what the supposed mainstream media would be doing, if they were chasing Republicans?
Face it guys, those e-mails got out because of the absolutely horrendous (to the point of being non-existent) security on DNC servers.
Rather like the security that the Chinese we’re able to bypass on the computer systems of other democrats for example Dianne Feinstein, Nancy Pelosi and so on.
And then of course there’s the non-existent security on the bathroom server of Hillary Clinton which the Chinese also had Direct access to, as did the Russians and everybody else on the planet, it would seem.
But we’re spending our time chasing Julian Assange. Why? Because Democrats got hurt by their own stupidity and somebody has to pay.
But when the country gets hurt by the Democrats lack of security and the Democrats are still in power, it all magically goes away.
Funny, that…

Davud I don’t think you know about this little bit of history because I don’t think I’ve ever related it here.
Living along the southern shore of Lake Ontario you can pick up a lot of Canadian stations. The day that this editorial was originally broadcast, I was home sick from school, a rather nasty cold. and of course I immediately went to the radio and started listening to stations within about 500 miles. WJR, WGR, WKBW, CJBQ, the now-defunct CJNH CBL and so on.
It was by mere chance that I happened across 1010 just about the time Sinclair opened his Mike. I can remember thinking to myself when I originally heard it on that cold day that Mr. Sinclair was probably going to be losing his job. But two things negated that… one the near godlike status he had and they broadcasting community in the Toronto area being a fixture at CFRB for many years… And of course the way it caught on.
There are records here in the states and at least two of them in my possession of Sinclair giving this talk.. (on the Avco embassy label) and another read by Byron MacGregor of the same editorial… (on another label which I believe to be an offshoot of the TK label out of Hialeah Florida.. ) which proved at least around the Rochester area to be the bigger seller.
Every once in awhile an event like that comes along to remind us of who we are.
Attention Chief Justice John Roberts
If the judiciary is as independent and unbiased as you claim, why is it that the Democrats have put on a show for the entire world every time a Republican president nominates a Supreme Court Justice, for the last 50 years?
I would advise you to have a word with Mr Justice Thomas for openers. Then wander down the hall and have a beer with Mr Justice Kavanaugh. Seek their opinions on the matter. I think that very quickly, you’ll see what an ass you’ve just made of yourself.
That is all.
By the way somebody is better tell Reuters News service.
there is absolutely no doubt that the latest ruling from the Obama appointed 9th circuit court judge on trumps executive order on immigration will be overturned. The law is well established…at as I point out elsewhere we’ve been over this nonsense before. But, just so we’re on the same page

Me, elsewhere… Mid thread…
Reagan’s 11th commandment works when the people that fell in love with government weren’t so prevalent in the GOP.
Remember that the GOP establishment wasn’t too happy about Reagan either, and has spent the last 40 years trying to erase his legacy.
McCain was one of these and I will not hide my absolute disgust with him and his ilk. John Kasich is another one but that’s another post.
The truth of the matter is McCain should have been shot as a traitor to the country. It took Richard Milhous Nixon (a California liberal) to put a stop to that. It’s my position that was a worse crime than Watergate… And the negative consequences lasted far longer.
And it’s funny how McCain forgot that 11 commandment. Wasn’t he supposed to be supporting Republicans? If he was taking Reagan’s 11th commandment seriously, how to explain his spending all of his time working against Donald Trump, Ted Cruz and anyone outside of the establishment?
These days the left-leaning of the establishment Republicans has gotten to the point where the 11th commandment should be put on pause. Solutions to problems (and believe me the establishment GOP is a problem) requires proper problem identification.
Allow a metaphoric example:
Speaking kindly about McCain is something akin to answering in the negative when asked “do these pants make my ass look fat?”
The truth is your ass would look fat regardless what you wore, so no, those pants don’t make your ass look fat.
The trouble is not labeling the establishment GOP as the problem is far more consequential than hurt feelings.
Picked up a short while ago..

BERGDAHL WAS RELEASED IN EXCHANGE FOR 5 TALIBAN GENERALS IN ORDER TO COVER UP THE OBAMA/HILLARY STINGER MISSILE SALES TO LIBYA.
BENGHAZI AND THE MATCHING SERIAL NUMBERS
So here’s the REAL story: Ambassador Stevens was sent to Benghazi to secretly retrieve US made Stinger Missiles that the State Dept had supplied to Ansar al Sharia in Libya WITHOUT Congressional oversight or permission.
Sec State Hillary Clinton had brokered the Libya deal through Ambassador Stevens and a Private Arms Dealer named Marc Turi, but some of the shoulder fired Stinger Missiles ended up in Afghanistan where they were used against our own military. On July 25th, 2012, a US Chinook helicopter was downed by one of them. Not destroyed only because the idiot Taliban didn’t arm the missile. The helicopter didn’t explode, but it had to land and an ordnance team recovered the missile’s serial number which led back to a cache of Stinger Missiles kept in
Qatar by the CIA.
Obama and Hillary were in full panic mode, so Ambassador Stevens was sent to Benghazi to retrieve the rest of the Stinger Missiles. This was a “do-or-die” mission, which explains the Stand Down Orders given to multiple rescue teams during the siege of the US Embassy.
It was the State Dept, NOT the CIA, that supplied the Stinger Missiles to our sworn enemies because Gen. Petraeus at CIA would not approve supplying the deadly missiles due to their potential use against commercial aircraft. So then, Obama threw Gen. Petraeus under the bus when he refused to testify in support of Obama’s phony claim of a “spontaneous uprising caused by a YouTube video that insulted Muslims.”
Obama and Hillary committed TREASON!
THIS is what the investigation is all about, WHY she had a Private Server, (in order to delete the digital evidence), and WHY Obama, two weeks after the attack, told the UN that the attack was the result of the YouTube video, even though everyone KNEW it was not.
Furthermore, the Taliban knew that the administration had aided and abetted the enemy WITHOUT Congressional oversight or permission, so they began pressuring (blackmailing) the Obama Administration to release five Taliban generals being held at Guantanamo.
Bowe Bergdahl was just a useful pawn used to cover the release of the Taliban generals. Everyone knew Bergdahl was a traitor but Obama used Bergdahl’s exchange for the five Taliban generals to cover that Obama was being coerced by the Taliban about the unauthorized Stinger Missile deal.
So we have a traitor as POTUS that is not only corrupt, but compromised, as well and a Sec of State that is a serial liar, who perjured herself multiple times at the Congressional Hearings on Benghazi. Perhaps this is why no military aircraft were called upon for help in Benghazi: because the administration knew that our enemies had Stinger Missiles that, if used to down those planes, would likely be traced back to the CIA cache in Qatar and then to the State Dept’s illegitimate arms deal in Libya.
Forward this again and again and again until everyone reads the true story of Benghazi. More than half of US citizens DO NOT KNOW THIS!
With regards to the fires out in California, it should be noted that the fires started on state maintained land. The excuse being given is the amount of real estate that the federal government owns in California. The fact of the matter is the fires didn’t occur on those lands but on those which the state controls. The state alone bears responsibility for these happenings.
if This were a just World, those responsible for the policies that resulted in those fires would be spending long jail sentences, preferably for the remainder of their natural lives for all the deaths and suffering that they have caused not to mention the property loss.
This liberal idiocy has risen to the criminal level now, and consequences need to be paid.
Passing thought: Has anybody noticed that when Democrats win close elections it’s a mandate, but when Republicans win close elections, it’s not legitimate?
Addendum,Eric
James Miller sees my comment, and asks:
I’m wondering if all those California flip-flops (from R to D) after election day will get any scrutiny now that Florida is wrapped up.
Well, first of all, scrutiny by whom? the Democrats who supposedly just won those elections? You know better. Scrutiny by the Press? Same answer.
In any event, I’m of the opinion that the GOP would be wise to lay low on that subject for a while. That’s for several reasons.
First because the GOP ends up looking like the cry babies that the Democrats have been for a long time. That’s not going to win us any friends in the voting booth.
And frankly, I’m not worried about it, really. It’s been my long-term experience the strongest argument against the re-election of Democrats is the painful results of Democrat policies.
As an example let’s imagine that the fires in California occurred prior to the midterms. Can you possibly imagine anyone with a brain in their head voting Democrat once the word gets out that the reason the fires got so out of control was because of forestry mismanagement which in turn was because of Democrat policies in California? (A point which even Governor moonbeam admits to quietly now)
How many hundreds of lives? How many billions of dollars?
Does anyone imagine, at any level that this isn’t going to be remembered in two years?
It has been said that continuing to do the same thing without achieving desired outcomes is a sign of insanity. As for California Governor Jerry Brown, a/k/a Governor Moonbeam, the cause of seemingly every problem is Anthropogenic Global Warming, from Watts Up with That, forward by Paul Driessen:
Over 8,000 homes and businesses have been reduced to ashes and rubble by the latest California conflagrations. Well over 60 people have perished, over 50,000 are homeless, hundreds remain missing. “This is the new abnormal,” Governor Jerry Brown insists. “Dryness, warmth, drought, all those things are going to intensify,” because of climate change. Even if we do more on forest management, that won’t stop climate change. “And those who deny that are definitely contributing to the tragedies.”
Those assertions have no basis in fact. The hard, incontrovertible reality is that California has always been a largely arid state, afflicted by prolonged droughts, interspersed with periods of intense rainfall, and buffeted almost every autumn by strong winds that can whip forest fires into infernos. The problem isn’t climate change. It’s ideological, even criminally incompetent forest management practices demanded by politicians, regulators, judges and environmentalists
in recent decades. My article presents the real story.
