Vladimir Putin didn’t move on the Ukraine while Trump was in office because he believed the chances were rather high that if he had, Trump would have obliterated Moscow.

You keep the peace by making sure the other guy knows he’s not going to profit by making war.

The Democrats have yet to learn this lesson.

From the American Thinker this morning:

A Quinnipiac poll published on March 7, 2022, gave a remarkable insight into the state of the country in terms of its political divisions. It has long been suspected that Democrats care more about their party than the country, and the recent polls provide strong evidence supporting that opinion. The poll indicates that most Democrats will never criticize a Democrat president despite a disastrous job performance. But more troubling is what the Quinnipiac poll revealed: a majority of Democrats do not love this country enough to stay and defend her in case of war.

What I can’t figure out is why this is news.

It seems reasonable to ask, what secrets are being guarded with this expenditure?

Granted that because of the idiocy of the Democrats, the dollar only has the real value of Monopoly money anymore, but I can’t get over the feeling that there are secrets being covered… Secrets that would come out, where this invasion from Russia to actually succeed.

I have said for a long time now in these spaces that the worst thing we ever did as a country, a culture, a people, was to turn the education of our young over to the government

Over at Substack, C. Bradley Thompson breaks this one down:

The primary objectives of America’s new Prussianized education system were fivefold: first, to replace parents with the State as the primary influence on the education of children; second, to elevate and promote the interests of the State; third, to substitute America’s highly individualistic and laissez-faire social-political system with one that was collectivistic and statist in nature; fourth, to create a new kind of citizen, whose primary virtues would be self-sacrifice, compliance, obeisance, and conformity; and, fifth, to Americanize and Protestantize the teeming hordes of Irish-Catholics who were coming to the United States (and then the waves of immigrants coming to the U.S. after the Civil War from southern and eastern Europe).

To achieve these goals, the single most important task of the new government schooling was to disconnect the natural ties between children and their parents.

No longer would parents determine in what, how, and by whom their children were to be taught. These functions would now be taken over by the government. Thus, the first steps in liberating children from the baneful influence of their parents could only be achieved by legislating compulsory attendance laws and mandating a common curriculum where all students would learn the same political ideology. . . .

Horace Mann, the 19th-century godfather of American government schooling, summed up the anti-parent premise of state-run education in these terms: “We who are engaged in the sacred cause of education are entitled to look upon all parents as having given hostages to our cause.”

And therein lies the point. Ask yourself, does anyone really believe that a government-run educational system is going to properly teach our young about the founders vision of limited government?

At the entrance to the memorial park in Kyiv, there is a sculpture of an extremely thin girl with a very sad look holding a handful of wheat ears in her hands.

Behind her back is the Candle of Remembrance, a monument with details reminiscent of authentic embroidery that can be found on traditional Ukrainian costumes. This is a monument that commemorates a historical event known as the Holodomor.

What is the Holodomor?

After the end of the First World War, Ukraine was an independent state, but in 1919 the Soviet Union “sucked” it into the community of Soviet states. The Ukrainians, who even then considered themselves a Central European people like the Poles and not an Eastern European like the Russians, tried to restore Ukraine’s independence.

In 1932, not wanting to lose control of Europe’s main granary, Stalin resorted to one of the most heinous forms of terror against one nation. In the process of nationalization, he took away the grain-producing land from the Ukrainian peasants, but also all its offerings, thus creating an artificial famine. The goal was to “teach Ukrainians to be smart” so that they would no longer oppose official Moscow. Thus the people who produced the most grain in Europe were left without a crumb of bread. The peak of the Holodomor was in the spring of 1933. In Ukraine at that time, 17 people died of hunger every minute, more than 1,000 every hour, and almost 24,500 every day! People were literally starving to death in the streets.

Stalin settled the Russian population in the emptied Ukrainian villages. During the next census, there was a large shortage of population. Therefore, the Soviet government annulled the census, destroyed the census documents, and the enumerators were shot or sent to the gulag, in order to completely hide the truth.

World War. Their poison gas was hunger. Their Hitler was Stalin. Their Holocaust was the Holodomor. For them, fascist Berlin was Soviet Moscow, and their concentration camp was the Soviet Union.

Today, 28 countries around the world present the Holodomor as genocide against Ukrainians, which you could not learn about in school, because almost all evidence was destroyed and victims were covered up for decades, survivors were forcibly silenced by not having the right to vote until recently.

The Holodomor at that time broke the Ukrainian resistance, but it made the desire for Ukraine’s independence from Russia eternal.

Yeah, I passed on the story as well because I thought it was too far out, even for this bunch.

Thing is the Democrat party deep state knows no boundaries. Watch.

By the way, the under secretary in charge of Ukrane that Tucker mentions here? She was hip deep in the Democrat party arranged coup in the Ukraine, under Obama.

It’s always seemed a little more than passing strange to me that in our government has ever bothered probing while we were creating these bioweapons in the first place, in China. Instead our attention was focused on reacting to it from a medical perspective. I’ve been saying all along that those creating that covid-19 virus should be prosecuted, position I still hold.

That the Chinese were complicit in this is also a position I still hold. But now The Ukraine as well?

The process revealing what’s going on here is going to be painful for some people I believe. There’s a lot more going on here that we’re not being told. Hang on tight kids, because this stuff is going to be breaking very quickly.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is only part of the price that we will pay for the “woke”politics being inflicted on this country. We have every indication that this is just the leading edge of the problem.

As this is written, diesel fuel is up over $5.50 a gallon. That’s up from $2.90 last year. Diesel is what power is the trucks that bring you everything that you have. Does anybody think that those fuel prices aren’t going to be reflected in even higher prices for everything else?

U.S. OIL SUPPLY…..INCREDIBLE..!!
About 6 months ago, there was a news program on oil and one of The Forbes Bros. was the guest. The host said to Forbes, “I am going to ask you a direct question and I would like a direct answer; how much oil does the U.S. Have in the ground?” Forbes did not miss a beat, he said, “More than all the Middle East put Together.”
The U.S. Geological Service issued a report in April 2008 that only Scientists and oil men knew was coming, but man was it big. It was a revised report (hadn’t been updated since 1995) on how much oil was in this area of the western 2/3 of North Dakota, western South Dakota, and Extreme eastern Montana.
Check THIS out:
The Bakken is the largest domestic oil discovery since Alaska’s Prudhoe Bay and has the potential to eliminate all American dependence on foreign oil. The Energy Information Administration (EIA) estimates it at 503 billion barrels. Even if just 10% of the oil is recoverable (5 Billion barrels), at $107 a barrel, we’re looking at a resource base worth more than $5.3 trillion. “When I first briefed legislators on this, you could practically see their Jaws hit the floor.
They had no idea.” says Terry Johnson, the Montana Legislature’s financial analyzer. “This sizable find is now the highest-producing onshore oil field found in the past 56 years,” reports The Pittsburgh Post Gazette.
It’s a formation known as the Williston Basin but is more commonly referred to as the ‘Bakken.’ It stretches from Northern Montana, through North Dakota and into Canada. For years, U.S. Oil exploration has been considered a dead end. Even the ‘Big Oil’ companies gave up searching for major oil wells decades ago.
However, a recent technological breakthrough has opened up the Bakken’s Massive reserves, And, we now have access of up to 500 billion barrels. And because this is Light, sweet oil, those billions of barrels will cost Americans just $16 PER BARREL!!!!! That’s enough crude to fully fuel the American economy for 2041 years Straight. And if THAT didn’t throw you on the floor, then this next one should – Because it’s from 2006 !!!!!!
U.S. Oil Discovery – Largest Reserve in the World Stansberry Report Online – 4/20/2006. Hidden 1,000 feet beneath the surface of the Rocky Mountains lies the Largest untapped oil reserve in the world. It is more than 2 TRILLION barrels. On August 8, 2005 President Bush Mandated its extraction. In many recent years of high oil prices none has been extracted. With this mother lode of oil why are we still fighting over off-shore Drilling?
They reported this stunning news: We have more oil inside our borders, than all the other proven reserves on Earth.
Here are the official estimates:
8 times as much oil as Saudi Arabia
18 times as much oil as Iraq
21 times as much oil as Kuwait
22 times as much oil as Iran
500 times as much oil as Yemen
And it’s all right here in the Western United States !!!!
HOW can this BE? HOW can we NOT BE extracting this? Because the Environmentalists and others have blocked all efforts to help America become Independent of foreign oil! Again, we are letting a small group of people Dictate our lives and our economy. WHY?
James Bartis, lead researcher with the study says we’ve got more oil in this very compact area than the entire Middle East, more than 2 TRILLION barrels Untapped. That’s more than all the proven oil reserves of crude oil in the World today, reports The Denver Post.
Don’t think ‘OPEC’ will drop its price even with this find? Think again! It’s all about the competitive marketplace, it has to. Think OPEC just might be funding the environmentalists?
Got your attention yet? Now, while you’re thinking about it, do this:
Pass this along. If you don’t take a little time to do this, then you should stifle yourself the next time you complain about gas prices, by doing NOTHING, you forfeit your right to complain.
Now I just wonder what would happen in this country if every one of you sent this to everyone in your address book.

I’ve been telling you all along that it was no accident that Putin waited until there was a Democrat in the White House to invade the Ukraine.

Here’s a little reminder by virtue of the Gateway Pundit.

Folks, I have made no secret of my disdain for most of the output from The Atlantic. They have over the last few years become emblematic of idiocy in print.

But every once in awhile a miracle occurs and they succumb to reality:

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has been a strategic failure because it assumed and required a quick and decisive victory, and at best it will get victory slow and Pyrrhic. But the Ukrainians have failed badly as well, by waiting too long to arm and train their citizens. If you want ordinary people to make your society occupation-proof, you have to teach them to kill well before they need to do so.

The strategist Edward N. Luttwak has proposed that countries aligned with NATO shift in this direction preemptively, as a matter of policy. Instead of buying heavy, technologically advanced equipment, Luttwak told me, they should adopt the Finnish model. In Finland, adolescent males report for a short and intense period of military training, followed by shorter refreshers for most of their adult life. The training is not, as in the Israeli model, a few years of dedicated service. Nor does it emphasize military discipline, such as keeping one’s bunk tidy and shoes polished, or the Prussian-style transformation of citizen-recruit into fighting machine. Instead, it prepares civilians to be ready to join their unit and harass and kill invaders. A country of Finland’s size can rapidly field nearly 1 million trained soldiers. “Ukraine could have done this,” Luttwak said, “and they should have.”

.

The real fact is, that all of the free world should be doing the same thing.

That you see, was the brilliance behind the writing of the second amendment.

Jeff Goldstein passes this one along, and given my earlier comments about Joe Biden declaring war on oil and gas, it seems appropriate to slip it in here.

This is from the ipcc…

If you want to see who really wants to defeat Vladimir Putin, look at who it is that’s calling for unshackling the oil and gas industries here in the states.

You probably already know that Joe Biden isn’t one of them. Monica Showalter, over at American Thinker knows it too:

It’s the easiest thing in the world: cut off Russia’s oil earnings and watch its war against Ukraine collapse.

A U.S. oil embargo on Russia would destroy its cash stream which is financing 30% of its government, including its attack on Ukraine.

In a war, at least one you want to win, you cut off supply lines. Grant and Sherman understood this. But General Biden is a little different. He wants to keep Putin getting that money until Bad America reforms to a green energy system to his liking. He has a live war in front of him; he has the solution on the table; and instead of taking that solution, he sticks to his green energy “priority.”

The “Green”energy concept has always been problematic, and detached from reality, to say the least. Even the far left in Germany is beginning to recognize that, possibly because they’ve got the reality of Vladimir Putin on their doorstep:

DW NEWS
Germany faces ‘gigantic’ task meeting climate goals
Rethinking energy policy
Germany is to a large scale dependent on Russian energy supplies: Russia accounts for more than half of Germany’s natural gas imports and more than 40 percent of its oil imports. They can hardly be replaced quickly.

The German government wants to significantly expand renewable energies. At the same time, it was planning to phase out coal-fired power generation and nuclear power. Hydrogen power is an option that is being developed, but not yet at a point where it can yield large-scale electricity output. When the wind doesn’t blow and the sun doesn’t shine, new gas-fired power plants were supposed to fill the energy gap.

To counteract dependence on Russia for gas, terminals for liquefied gas from the US are now to be built.

And the government is thinking of letting the nuclear power plants that are still operating and some coal-fired power plants run longer than originally planned. This is particularly bitter for the Greens, because they want to phase out nuclear energy and coal as early as possible. But “there are no taboos, everything is up for discussion,” says Green Economy Minister Robert Habeck.

Clearly, the leftist mindset has to be hit about the head and shoulders with the 30 lb sledge of reality several times, before they’ll recognize it.

The Democrats energy policy, as well as their foreign policy is precisely why Putin annexed the Crimea when the lightbringer was in office, and is now attempting to annex the Ukraine, while his moronic vp, Biden is in office. By comparison, Donald Trump’s America first policy, while extraordinarily unpopular among Democrats (mostly because it worked) served to keep people like Putin at bay.

The trouble of course is that as his first action in the White House, Joe Biden declared war on oil, and gas. We were energy independent, and were in fact exporting natural gas and crude. All that ended on Joe Biden’s first day, all for the myth of global warming. You can add the numbers of dead in the Ukraine right now to the numbers of those who have been sacrificed on the altar of that preposterous myth.

As Germany is now showing us, eventually the rabid left will succumb to reality.

With somebody of the even more limited mentality of a Joe Biden, it’s going to take even longer.

I’ve been saying for many years now that the rank and file of both parties is far more conservative than anything that either party has coughed up as election fodder in years. Even the Democrat rank and file thinks the Democrats have gone too far. When that starts showing up in the polling you know they’re in trouble.

This note from Hot Air would seem to confirm that point.

It would also seem to confirm that something else I’ve been saying is exactly the case… The science didn’t change, the politics did.

Recently, SFGate’s Eric Ting got a look at internal DCCC polling which provides clear answers to the question Geist asked.

Ting suggests what has changed is polling that shows GOP attacks on Democrats handling of COVID are very effective. Personally, I don’t figure that it has much to do with the GOP’s attacks, it just has more to do with common sense that most people still have, believe it or not. The GOP simply latched on to what they see as a change in the wind.

As for what’s ahead, that would be electoral disaster unless Democrats pivot away from mandates. And indeed they’ve already started doing that.

Which means, the Democrats response to covid-19 was political to begin with. It didn’t end up being political, it started there.
