John “Breck Girl” Edwards is man of great wealth and little achievement. 

George E. “Bud” Day is a man of unmatched achievement and a hero is every sense.  Day is simply America’s most decorated living  veteran.   Day spent sixty-seven months in Hell.   Want to see the fact of a hero, look into Day’s face.

For theis the Los Angeles Times has seen fit to call Colonel Day a “lunatic” and a “goon.”  Day’s crime.  He dared to question John  Kerry’s fitness to serve:

Kerry cast a long dark shadow over all Vietnam Veterans with his outright perjury before the Senate concerning atrocities in Vietnam. His stories to the Senate committee were absolute lies.. fabrications.. perjury.. fantasies, with NO substance. That dark shadow has defamed the entire Vietnam War veteran population, and gave “Aid and Comfort” to our enemies..the Vietnamese Communists. Kerry’s stories were outright fabrications, and were intended for political gain with the radical left..McGovern, Teddy and Bobby Kennedy followers, Jane Fonda, Tom Hayden, and the radical left who fantasized that George McGovern was going to be elected in 1972. Little wonder that returning soldiers from Vietnam were spit upon and castigated as “baby killers”. A returned war hero said so….

My friend and room mate Senator John S. McCain denounced the Swiftboat video by John O’Neil. I have a different take on the Swiftboat tape and disagree with my good friend John.
John Kerry opened up his character as a war hero reporting for duty to the country with a hand salute…and his band of brothers..of which he was the chief hero. Most of his convention speech was about John Kerry..Vietnam hero, and his band of brothers. John Kerry’s character is not only fair game, it is the primary issue. He wants to use Bill Clinton’s “is”, as an answer to his lack of character….

John Kerry for President? Ridiculous. Unthinkable. Unbelievable. Outrageous.

Kerry dared run on his military credential’s, such as they are.  Colonel Day responded to Kerry’s challenge.

Howard Dean is upset because Ann Coulter dared to suggest that Edwards was a homosexual.    Yet Dean, a draft avoider, is strangely silent when a true American hero and patriot like Colonel Day called a lunatic and goon.
Jason, at Countercoluim, calls the column’s author, Rosa Brooks, a “hack.”  Personally I think Jason is being overly charitable.

So, you really think there’s a consensus on global warming?

Doesn’t look like it from here.

LOS ANGELES —AP– A Norman Rockwell work stolen from suburban St. Louis more than three decades ago was found in Steven Spielberg’s art collection, the FBI announced Friday.

The painting, Rockwell’s “Russian Schoolroom,” was snatched during a late-night burglary at a gallery in Clayton, Mo., on June 25, 1973. The Oscar-winning filmmaker purchased the painting in 1989 from a legitimate dealer and didn’t know it was stolen until last week, the FBI said in a statement.

Weird, though that kind of stuff happens. What the story doesn’t get into, and what I do not understand, is why Spielberg and his staff after all this time, suddenly decided to contact the authorities.  The story doesn’t get into that. I suppose there are aspects of the investigation still ongoing so is the reporting cannot be very specific as yet.
Steven Spielberg, famously, and says millions to the coffers of the campaigns of Democrats all over the country.  He’s been doing so for years.  This is not an indication of guilt in the case of this painting, of course. I intend no such judgment of guilt in this case, based on what I have in front of me.

But let’s imagine we have an equally innocent art collector who happens to be a famous supporter of Republican candidates, in the same situation. How do you suppose the press would treat that? How do you suppose that would compare to the treatment Mr. Spielberg is, in this case, justifiably getting?

As Bit said, Howard Dean is mad because Ann Coulter inferred that John Edwards is a faggot.  

“I was going to have a few comments on the other Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards, but it turns out you have to go into rehab if you use the word ‘faggot,’ so I – so kind of an impasse, can’t really talk about Edwards.”

While Coulter’s joke bombed, Dean exploded.  Dean wildly asserted that Coulter crossed some forbidden rhetorical line

“While Democrats and Republicans may disagree on the issues, we should all be able to agree that this kind of vile rhetoric is out of bounds. The American people want a serious, thoughtful debate of the issues,”  

Where is the line Howard?

Well why is Dean mad?   Dean has no problems with homosexuals.   Dean never denounced Gerrry Studds or Barney Franks.  Isn’t it in the democrat platform that engaging in homosexual acts is something in which to take pride?  

I suggest that Dean is mad because Coulter exposed the soft underbelly of a top tier democrat canidate.  Edwards image is on the effete side.   Consider this tidbit from Salon:

“John Kerry and John Edwards can’t keep their hands off each other!”  

Coulter doesn’t know anything about Edwards’ sexual preference.   If she did, she have used it.  Restraint is just not part of Coulter’s game.   Yet Coulter does know a sore point and how to poke it.   She did. 

I’ll wager Coulter’sanity versus Dean’s anyday.  And  you?

Well Dean is mad, but Dean always seems to be mad.  That and dollar and quarter will get you a cup of coffee.

I’m going to start with something new, tonight, in the hopes I can turn you on to what Music I’m listening to at the moment. My musical taste, after my broadcast years, became somewhat eccentric; I’m usually listening to something most people of never heard of.  Tonight, it’s Ira Stein & Russel Walder – Transit.

Of course, it’s out of press these days.  You’re not likely to find used copies for under about 22 bucks.  At least, not that are in very good shape.  I’m fairly particular about the CD’s I buy, condition-wise.

Gotta love it. Sorry, gang.  She’s telling it like it is.  The reason that humor works, is the same as any other humor that works; there’s a grain of truth at the center of it. They don’t call him The Breck Girl for nothing.

You don’t like it?  Fine.  That big red X in the upper right hand corner of your screen is for you. But after the kind of slurs we’ve been putting up from the Democrats for years and years, don’t come crying to me because you get some of it back.  I’m not interested.  Other than maybe for the laugh value.

* As for the rest of the speakers there at the Conservative Political Action Conference, the big overriding theme for all the various candidates, is how much better conservatives they’d be then John McCain.  As if that was some kind of major accomplishment.

I find it amusing that he decided to use left leaning David Letterman and his show was a platform to announce his candidacy, and decided not to bother showing up at the Conservative Political Action Conference.  Gee, gang, what kinda signals do you think that he’s sending, here? He knows he doesn’t stand a chance in hell of passing himself off as a conservative. Being run out of the place on a rail, seems more likely to me than him actually making any friends, there. The people at CPAC simply aren’t that stupid.  If he tried to sell itself as a conservative, in that venue, he’d have “liar” to add to his resume, and the folks at CPAC will help him document it.  Hardly a virtue when running for president.  Unless, of course, you’re running as a Democrat.  Which of course, raises the question why he doesn’t do just that; why not just let the other shoe drop, and run as a Democrat? McCain’s already made the same nutty claim the Democrats were making about the ‘wasted’ lives of our troops. Even absent the rather abysmal record you generated of late, That comment alone should disqualify you from running for any public office whatsoever, much less the powerful position you hold, and certainly it disqualifies you from the office you’re supposedly seeking. Dry up Johnboy.

As to whether or not that conference is an indicator of who will win, no.  I don’t think it is.  But it is most certainly an indication of who will lose.  McCain.

* Alex Update: continues to do well. Again, I must thank everyone for the feedback I’ve been getting.  Your thoughts your concerns and you’re well wishes are cause for this grizzled old Blogger to smile. I must say, that I’m impressed with how he personally has been dealing with all of this.  After initially being scared to death of the needle, he has become Mr. Pragmatist about the whole thing. I’m really quite proud of the way he’s dealt with it.  I guess it comes down to people tend to act, eventually, exactly how they’re expected to act.  That’s a thought worth expanding on in other more social contexts, perhaps.
* As regards the storms in the south last night, there’s not much I can do from up here.  Prayer, of course.  Beyond that ….

Of course, we see the usual suspects laying claim to the idea that global warming is responsible for the storms.  But isn’t it kind of odd? When storms like what was going on in the south show up, global warming gets blamed. But when a storm snows out “global warming’ Propaganda meetings, even in places where they’re used to a lot of snow, the press can’t seem to be found to report those.* Speaking of which: Jim Angle at Fox, tonight:

… a former Canadian defense minister says the answer to concerns about climate change is technology from UFOs. He’s demanding that governments worldwide use secret alien technology to replace fossil fuels and save the planet from global warming.  Paul Hellyer served in the Canadian cabinet in the sixties. He tells the Ottawa Citizen that governments have alien technology they obtained from the crashes of UFOs. He says those spacecrafts were equipped with advanced fuel sources and propulsion systems that could eliminate the burning of fossil fuel within a generation.

It’s no accident of course this nutball was in the cabinet of even bigger nutball, Elliott Trudeau. This is merely another point on the long long long list of points explaining why I don’t take this “global warming” nonsense seriously.  I caught Limbaugh, earlier today, mentioning that the “peace movement” of the sixties, has been pretty much renamed , the “environmental movement”.  He’s got a point.  These are the very same people.  And it always seems to come down to blaming the United States for something.  Picking the pocket of the people of the United States.  Promoting world socialism.  That’s really what all this boils down to.

* They finally got around to slotting Anna Nichole Smith back to mother earth, this morning. What a bloody flea circus.  It’s amazing how a little money will create such a large number of hangers- on.  I know, I promised I wouldn’t say anything about it.  And I’m sorry she’s gone….  But the fact of the matter is she’s been gone for years.  It was all over but for whom got the money, years ago.  And that’s all this ever was about.  I look at that group of people surrounding that grave site this morning, (after all, without on all news channels simultaneously, I could hardly miss seeing it) and I don’t see an ounce of love in the whole lot of them. Normally, I would say, that now that the woman is buried we’d see the end of the wall to wall coverage on every news channel and gossip channel going.  But I know darn well that’s not going to happen.  They’re gonna carry this thing for another six months at least.  I’m not sure if that’s an indication of what our news organizations have become, what we as a people of become, or both.  But it doesn’t paint a pretty picture in any event.  You regulars, will be aware that I’ve had my mind elsewhere these last couple of days.  But I came away from watching that nonsense on TV today, more than faintly disgusted.

McCain has no business running for the Republican nomination.

A former American Civil Liberties Union executive, who once argued that Internet filters in libraries that limited children’s access to pornography would interfere with their ability to learn and communicate, is facing a federal court hearing today on charges he possessed child pornography.

The preliminary hearing is scheduled in court in the Eastern District of Virginia for Charles Rust-Tierney, 51, of Arlington, Va., who has been held in custody in the case since his arrest. According to report on the case, Rust-Tierney admitted to investigators he had downloaded videos and images from child pornography websites onto CD-ROMS, which reportedly depicted graphic forcible assaults on young girls.

The MSM just doesn’t want to report on this story.

Some where George Orwell, 1903-1950, is looking up and grinning.    The House has passed a bill intented to strip workers of their right to a free elections, with the diabolical title of Employee Free Choice Act,   Only in Moscow, the former Soviet Union, Fidel Castro’s Cuba, or Mrs. Pelosi’s House of Representatives, would a bill intended strip workers of their right to a free and secret elections be called a free choice act.

By the logic of Mrs Pelosi, voting in secret subjects the worker to pressure by his employer or wanna be union, but having to sign, or not sign, a union card in public s0mehow removes that pressue.   Sure Mrs. Pelosi.   If you honestly believe that, I have Arizona beach front property for you.  If you believe that open election are somehow more democratic than secret election,  you need to vote to eliminate the curtain on all voting booths.

Mrs. Pelosi’s Orwellian bill may play well with the what seven percent of American workers who are uniionized.  i dare say it will not go over with some ninty-threre percent who are not.   You know, I just don’t believe Mrs. Pelosi is dumb enough to actually believe what she is saying here.

Further, as Mrs. Pelosi’s bill is doomed in the Senate, she pissed off ninety percent of American workers for no gain. 

Kirsten Powers, Michelle Malkins sometime liberal counterpart, posted a vlog of Second Life, the John Kerrr/John Edwards virtual campaign headquarters.   Powers noted the dearth of people, voters and seriousness.

The Edwards campaigned announced:

Shortly before midnight (CST) on Monday, February 26, a group of republican Second Life users, some sporting “Bush ’08” tags, vandalized the John Edwards Second Life HQ.  They plastered the area with Marxist/Lenninist posters and slogans, a feces spewing obsenity, and a photoshopped picture of John in blackface, all the while harrassing visitors with right-wing nonsense and obsenity-laden abuse of Democrats in general and John in particular

Sure John!   

It was unsure if the Edwards’ campaign was refering to 41, 43, Jeb, Jenna or Homer Bush. 

Edwards duped juries into believing obsetricians caused cerebral palsy.  Hitler was sure the communists burned the Reichstag, or so he said.  Now it is republicans committing virtual vandalism.

I suggest that David Geffen be made an honorary Snarker.   While I neither patronize his movies nor endorse his left wing politics, Geffen appears to have broken the MSM taboo not discussing Mrs. Clinton’s charater, or lack thereof same.

Maggie Haberman, in the New York Post,  discusses Gingrich’s broad side in Mrs. Clinton:

March 1, 2007 — Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich yesterday called Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton “a nasty woman” who runs an “endlessly ruthless” campaign machine.

The ironic part is that Gingrich’s slam of Mrs. Clinton was set up by a media attampt to smear Rudy GiulianiL

Asked whether Americans are ready to elect Rudy Giuliani – a leader, the questioner noted, whom Ed Koch had called a “nasty man” – Gingrich shot back, “As opposed to a nasty woman?”

The Clintons have been accustomed to having it both ways.   They issue public statements deploring the “politics of personal destruction” while at the same time whallowiing in it.

At the Democratic forum in Carson City, Nev., on Tuesday, ABC’s George Stephanopoulos asked Mrs. Clinton if Mr. Obama should renounce Mr. Geffen’s remarks. She answered, “I want to run a positive campaign” and referred to “the politics of personal destruction.” Every time she gets in a spot, she pulls that one out. And for good reason: It has always worked. It works because it confuses people. Is this the boys beating up the girl? Are they sticking her pigtails in the ink well? Is Geffen mean? If Obama is nice, shouldn’t he make sure everyone is nice?

As Dan Rather might  say, if he were a conservativ:

Expect Think Progress to whine about Gingrich’s “smear.”

NEW YORK (AP) -CNN- Arthur M. Schlesinger Jr., the Pulitzer Prize-winning historian and Kennedy insider who helped define mainstream liberalism during the Cold War and remained an eminent public thinker into the 21st century, has died, his son said. He was 89.  Schlesinger suffered a heart attack while dining out with family members Wednesday night in Manhattan, Stephen Schlesinger said. He was taken to New York Downtown Hospital, where he died.

The man’s politics were outright abysmal.  So solidly left wing, that he actually was on George McGovern’s campaign. so what is that the press is going to spend the majority of today heaping praise on the man.  You may notice that I won’t join them.  And yet It’s worth noting that even he came down to the right of just about everyone running for the Democratic Party nomination, today.

Maybe it was the umpteenth coke-dealing anthem or soft-porn music video. Perhaps it was the preening antics that some call reminiscent of Stepin Fetchit.  The turning point is hard to pinpoint. But after 30 years of growing popularity, rap music is now struggling with an alarming sales decline and growing criticism from within about the culture’s negative effect on society.  Rap insider Chuck Creekmur, who runs the leading Web site Allhiphop.com, says he got a message from a friend recently “asking me to hook her up with some Red Hot Chili Peppers because she said she’s through with rap. A lot of people are sick of rap … the negativity is just over the top now.”

Nice that my earlier comments are being vindicated, here. I mean, I wouldn’t say the Chili Peppers are exactly the forefront of a sudden sounds, but it’s the direction that’s remarkable, here.

For all the noise about the enormously obscene amount of energy usage of the Gore mansion, one story that’s gotten by everyone, apparently, is the energy conservation measures in place at the Bush homestead at Crawford, TX.

Funny how that never seems to get mentioned by the enviro-nazis.

Tonight’s Ramble is going to be short and sweet.

Well, short.

The reason is fairly simple; yesterday afternoon, I ended up making a hurry up trip to the hospital. My younger boy , Alex, was being transported there.  He was about in a diabetic coma.  But not quite.  We have spent the last couple of days, now, learning how to manage type one diabetes, in an eleven year old boy.  Needless to say, this has upset the family routine, not to mention the routine at our respective jobs, where I expect to be mending fences for quite awhile.  I work with a good bunch of people, but my sudden absence has undoubtedly put a strain on things.

Even absent that particular aspect, I’ve spent the last couple of days, feeling pretty much helpless.  There really isn’t a whole bunch you can do in this kind of situation but grab leather, and ride it out. Oh, I know…  people will deal with diabetes all the time.  Live normal, happy lives, without issue.  This transition, however, seems to have caught Donna off-guard little, and she needed the support.  And, me, as well. To say nothing of what’s been going on in Alex’s head. Alex, you see, is mildly autistic.  So these changes, for him, and for us, are more dramatic than would be the case for some.

The image of seeing the little guy in that big white hospital bed, didn’t help matters much.

All that said, Alex is, as expected, doing much better as this is written on Wednesday evening.  We anticipate having him home sometime tomorrow afternoon.  However, I anticipate some major changes in routine these next few days.  Changes that will likely remain in force the rest of his life. He’ll likely do just fine when see gets into the groove; he always has in the past.  It’s just that transition.
