Why They Hate Us.

What do watermelons hate above all else? Modern sanitation. So this story goes long way to explain the eviromental wakco’s hatred of us. We wipe.

Every Briton flushes 17.6 kilos (39lb) of toilet paper down the lavatory every year, almost two and half times the European average, according to tissue industry figures. 

British toilet paper consumption of 110 rolls per capita is 25 times that of Ukraine’s, Europe’s lowest. 

Americans pull 15.7 kilos off the roll, ahead of Western Europe’s average flush of 12.4, but still well behind the British. 

Does anybody wish to visit the Ukraine?

In listening to my short wave up here, I am hearing reports of the world summit in Johannesburg, where the free world is told among other things that the flush toilet is a major problem, culturally. Some of the other gems coming out of that are typical leftist; it’s the rest of the world’s fault that South Africa is so poor. Of course the fact that the place has sunken into poverty in the time that the socialist African National Congress has been in power, there., isn’t the reason, huh? 

So, the Africans hate us, to the point of attack, because of the flush toilet.

Give the left marks for consistancy, at least. 

There nothing wrong with being a loser per se.  Loser’s only become a problem when attempt spread their personal misery.  There is no bigger loser than Ralph Nader, a man berift of ideas, vision, tolerance and compasion.

In fact, Nader is the number one reason to eliminate federal matching campaign funds is Ralph Nader.  Nader hasn’t had an new idea since he figured out how to kill the Corvair.  Nader has no campaign position on any important issue.  Nader’s sole reason for existence is to pande to the nanny state nazi’s.

In a free society, Nader has the inalienable right to hold his views, as demented as they may be.   Nader has no right to use our tax dollars to prosetytize his weird views.  Yet for reason very reason, Nader is again “pondering” yet another run:

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Former presidential candidate Ralph Nader on Sunday left the door open for another possible White House bid in 2008 and criticized Democratic front-runner Hillary Rodham Clinton as “a panderer and a flatterer.”

Asked on CNN’s Late Edition news program if he would run in 2008, the lawyer and consumer activist said, “It’s really too early to say. … I’ll consider it later in the year.”

Ralph, you are old, a loser and devoid of ideas.   Get off the political stage and quit feeding off the public dole.

VIENNA, Austria (AP) _ Kurt Schubert, the founder of Austria’s first Jewish museum after World War II, died Sunday. He was 83.

The Austrian Jewish Museum, which Schubert started in Eisenstadt in 1972, posted a statement on its Web site saying he died after a long illness but gave no specific details.

Schubert, who was born in the Austrian capital on March 4, 1923, also founded the Jewish Studies Institute at the University of Vienna in 1966.

 Personally, I couldn’t care less about the ads… but they keep my wife occupied while I watch the game, so I don’t complain. But you know, there are those who couldn’t care less about the game, per se’, but rather concentrate on the ads. Always seemed a little strange to me.

Also, a little counter productive. Let’s recall that the Apple ad, annoucing the MAC showed up during the Super Bowl.  With the benefit of hidsight, some 20 years later, we see how THAT one turned out. (Hint: A perenial also-ran doesn’t strike me as being overly successful.)

Why am I even commenting on this stuff? I have no idea, really.

 I suppose I SHOULD comment, however, on the point taht my prediction of a Bears victory came out badly… despite the early run at it… the first dozen plays or so read like a Bears rout. And the Colt’s record over the season… particularly their defense… read like the Bears would have ’em on the ground.

It’s the ‘Any Given Sunday” rule, that applies, here.

(Shrug) To be hoenst, I didn’t watch football nearly as much this year. Being a Bills fan, I kinda withdrew after about half the season.

No I’m not talking about Hillary Clinton’s integrity.  (Though, admittedly, that would be a completely accurate measurement…)
I’m talking about the temps outside at the moment.  That storm that I spoke of a day or two ago, had a rather massive cold front behind it.  We’ll be dealing with this for the next couple of days.  It figures; I’m supposed to be taking a day off tomorrow for my wife’s birthday.  We’re supposed to be getting furniture delivered the day after.

Timing, of course, being everything. 

The Nonsense news of the morning is this bit from the New York Times.

WASHINGTON, Feb. 2 — To shouts and cheers from thousands of Democrats assembled here, the party’s leading presidential contenders condemned President Bush’s war in Iraq on Friday but sharply differed over how to end it — and particularly whether Democrats should settle for a nonbinding resolution expressing the Senate’s opposition to Mr. Bush’s war policies.

Such splits are what happens when you move away from the logical basics of the thing.  There is only one path to peace; victory over the enemy.  Which is the one thing, that all of these moron Democrats are avoiding.  So heavily invested are they in America’s defeat, that the one real path to peace gets denied.

* We caught a storm around here tonight, the likes of which I haven’t seen in 30 years at least.  It snowed so hard around here I couldn’t see halfway across my front yard.  It was no good taking a picture of it, because it would have come out totally white. And of course, I had to go out to pick up the food we ordered for dinner, in it.  Driving in that stuff really isn’t all that bad , at least for somebody who’s used to driving in snow.

And of course, the single digit temperatures around here make it interesting.  To make it even more interesting, we actually had a couple of lightning strikes in the neighborhood, which will give you a rough idea of heavily it was snowing.  The only time I’ve ever seen lightning strikes in the wintertime, were in snowfalls that were heavy enough to cause heart attacks just watching the stuff fall; this was one such situation.

I’d like us to one of the environmental weenies who are telling me that I don’t need an SUV, to try and drive in this stuff.  Most people have no clue.

I decided on the way down, that it was actually better than driving in a heavy fog , something I’ve done many times… if only because in a snowstorm you but least get the tracks of the vehicle who went that way before you to follow. Of course, it wasn’t until I got back that if it occurred to me to question whether not the vehicles whose tracks I was following, had run off into a ditch for me to follow.

I dare say, there are a few people who would have preferred that for me.

* I see George Soros in the news again.  Typical vehement socialist. And here we go again with the “Bush is Hitler” meme. apparently, for all their denials, about having indicated bush was Hitler, they’ve forgotten all about that now, and are swinging in behind and in support of Mr. Soros. I guess I’m not surprised. Perhaps integrity was a bit too much to expect from Democrats.  Oh… that reminds me…

* If you believe this global warming hoax, or you have as I have labeled it a complete hoax, either way, you need to read this.

An excellent bit, isn’t it? You would be amazed at the number of people who simply can’t answer the questions he poses; and yet with an almost religious fervor will believe not only that the earth is doomed, but that we’ve doomed it.

No, I’m not kidding. There are those, now, who are pointing toward population growth, as the cause for “global warming.  ” This nonsense was disregarded here in the west 30 years ago when I started trying to sell it to us. Still, there are those who never quite got over having their ’cause’ rejected so soundly, who are now taking up the call yet again.

To accept their argument, however, one needs to accept the idea that global warming exists at all.  Most people do not ; including scientists. Proof of global warming has yet to be entered into evidence.
One also needs to accept that, given the first item, man is responsible for the warming ; this has also yet to be entered into evidence.

Finally, one needs to accept both the first two items, and except that this is simply a numerical problem, and less human influence on the planet will solve the issue.

Well, just for laughs, let’s accept all three of those.  Just for argument’s sake.  I took up this argument recently in email:

How would you prefer we address the problem?  Seriously.  Various forms of birth control have ravaged the various cultures that have tried it. Take China, as an example. The free rein of abortion has all but removed the French and Germans from the face of the planet, and per capita birth rates are already down in the US.  I mean, really… what’s your solution? Are we going to kill off a few billion people to re-attain this rather arbitrary population density?

I mean, do these people even look at the consequences of what they propose?  In the case of the discussion of hand, the proponent ducked away from the issue altogether, by saying that it was already too late and we are all doomed.  One of many I’ve run across of late.
Of course, that’s total nonsense, as well; people have been predicting the end of the world, at least once per week since the beginning of the world, and may notice we’re still here.

Interesting side note on that point; And one that causes me to wonder a bit….

Usually the predictor of the end of the world was some religious cult leader or other.  One such example would be Marshall Applewhite.
If you don’t recall him go and read the link. I think you’ll find the comparison of interest. I wouldn’t be the first one to notice that the environmentalist-wackos have a number of similarities to the wackos like Applewhite… an almost religious aura about them. Certainly, they take global warming on faith.. just like Applewhite, who figured that all one needed to do was to cut off your equipment commit suicide at the right time, and you could catch the comet for a ride to heaven.

If you examine this fruitcakes life, you begin to wonder if it isn’t a case of guilty conscience gone amok that leaves them to such things.

Although he married during this time and had two children, he was fired from his job as a teacher for having a homosexual affair with a student. The official reason given by St. Thomas, a private college, for his termination, was “health problems of an emotional nature.

Hey… if “Bush is Hitler” is valid…..

A dilema is when you see your mother-in-law driving over a cliff in your brand new Corvette.   Here Pinch Sulzberg and the New York Times have a similar dilema.  The Times absolutely hates guns, legal or otherwise, and also opposes racial profiling.

The Times reports a story suggesting that the New York Police Department  is racial profing in the search for handguns.  

Paul J. Browne, the chief police spokesman, said later that the department’s analysis of the numbers showed that while 55.2 percent of the stop encounters last year involved blacks, 68.5 percent of crimes involved suspects described as black by their victims (or by witnesses, in the case of homicides). Hispanics, he said, made up 30.5 percent of those stopped and 24.5 percent of suspected offenders. For whites, he said, the numbers were 11.1 percent and 5.3 percent, respectively.

Just imagine the high state of dudgeon the in which the Times would be if these stops were immigration, or terror related?   Imagine if it were Moslems which were being stopped.

I don’t sense a lot angst about this story yet, and suspect that it will not become a pet cause at the Times.

As I watch the news of the day, today, I am taken with the notion that never before in this country’s history, have we had to fight a battle within the country before we could win the battle outside of the country.  I try to picture the kind of “resistance” which in reality is nothing more than anti Americanism, occurring during World War two, and find I cannot.

What does this say about the antiwar left in this country? For one thing, it suggests to me that the opposition is not to the war.  Rather, it is to the political party in power.  That the war is being used by them to gain political power domestically.

The pattern isn’t all that hard to detect; Given the support of the Iraq war early on, from the Democrats, who jumped in line with everyone else, and then the sudden, nonsensical change of heart, (assuming they have a heart ) shows that this entire opposition to the war nonsense, is nothing more than political opportunism.  This idea would seem to be furthered by the continuing noise occasionally being made by presidential candidates from the left, who make an occasional nod to reality.
Yet, we have seen this kind of pattern before.  That ‘opposition’, for example, is partially how we ended up with Jimmy Carter as a president.. a man who has revealed in ever increasing amounts since his presidency, his desire for America’s defeat, Israel’s defeat, and his embracing of Islamo- fascism.
Yet, there are those who would deny that that historical link exists. For example, I see where Slate’s Jack Schaefer is going to great lengths, trying to establish that the spitting, and punching attacks war veterans of Vietnam, is something of a “urban legend”. One assumes, that the effort involves the more recent reports of such incidents, particularly last weekend in Washington.

After all, it’s difficult at best to pursue any movement claiming to be nonviolent, while its proponents are being violent.  Further it’s difficult to complain that they support the troops but not the war, when they treat the troops so very badly , so very publicly. if nothing else, their actions, give lie to their statements.

Jason correctly points up:

The lefties tired of the sins of the fathers cramping the sins of the sons, and one look at Google establishes how desperately they are struggling to erase those incidents from our collective memory.

Which perhaps is why government schools are so lacking in the correct teaching of history, in context.  Historical references, being what they are, humans are somewhat less likely to make a mistake a the second time.  without such teaching, in context, following the mistake in road that the left column souls, seems to make a great deal of sense.  At least, to the uninformed.

As to the effort of denial itself Jim Lindgren points up that…

…Bob Greene, a former Chicago columnist, wrote a column in the 1980s saying that it was a myth. He received so many stories of spitting that he interviewed the purported victims and wrote a book concluding that many such stories were probably true.

We see incidents like this all the time.  Usually, the initial “it’s a myth” assertion, is based on the news reporting on the subject that the time.  Once people start truly researching it, as opposed to relying on the press of the day, attitudes tend to change.  Then again, that shouldn’t be much of a surprise, given the ideology espoused by most in the press, both then, and now. playing the game of “if it wasn’t in the press it didn’t exist ” given those conditions, seems less than fruitful a path, if finding the truth is the object.

The truth of the matter is, that the left in this country is rather heavily invested in America’s defeat.  Their political position cannot withstand an American victory in Iraq.  They are desperate to prevent such a victory.  Every action they take, every claim they make, is aimed at that one goal…. Defeat for America, and the west.

The left won, as regards Vietnam. America lost, there, because of them. The question is, will we learn from that history?  Will we prevent them from defeating us again?

The answer, of course, is ‘no’.
Well, now at least, this explains more fully why the Democrats are so lothe to distance themselves from Jimmy Carter; when he does his anti-US, anti-Israel number… they agree with him. Why else would they invite such a man?

John Warner has declared that he will filibuster his own non-binding resolution on the surge to protest the conduct of Harry Reid in limiting votes on alternatives, such as John McCain’s proposed language that supports the President’s new strategy for Baghdad and Anbar. The GOP says they can organize all 49 Senators in their caucus, which would keep any resolution from proceeding to a vote:

Sen. John W. Warner will join his fellow Republicans in voting Monday to block the resolution he wrote rebuking President Bush’s Iraq war policy.”Senator Warner supports the Senate Republican leadership’s effort to establish a free and open debate on Iraq on the Senate floor, including possible amendments,” a spokesman for the Virginia Republican said yesterday afternoon.

Earlier in the day, Mr. Warner told colleagues during a closed-door strategy meeting at the Library of Congress that he opposes the manner in which Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Nevada Democrat, is conducting debate on his resolution, which condemns Mr. Bush’s plan to send 21,500 more troops to Iraq.

Senate Republicans are opposed to a vote on the Warner resolution unless they also get votes on two other resolutions. One of those alternatives supports Mr. Bush’s plan, and the other would prohibit cutting funds for the war. Republicans also want each resolution to require 60 votes to pass.

Look, I think Warner is an idiot for having written the resolution in the first place.  Still, in this, it would appear he’s proven useful.  As Ed Notes:

Mitch McConnell seems to have aroused more opposition to the resolutions than first thought. He appeared on Hugh Hewitt’s radio show this week, and McConnell told Hugh that he was aware of the NRSC pledge effort to deny the Senate Republican election committee any funding if they lost their nerve on the war. That message seems to have been heard by the caucus, and the sudden reversal by Warner makes it clear that we have made them nervous about the outcome.

Now if only they applied some of those teeth while the Republicans were still in power…. Or, before Warner opened his yap to drop this little bomb of a resolution on Congress and the country, and on the troops. I think the NRSC action, here, is if nothing else, reflective of a country that is sick to death of politicians demanding defeat for the United States. Dean Bartlett correctly says:

” The World’s Greatest Deliberative Body is worse than useless during this, the fight for our lives. That being the case, I wish they’d just have the common decency to shut up, raise money, kiss babies and let serious people like Dave Petraeus take care of business.”

Indeed.

WASHINGTON (AP) – Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton said Friday she would not have attacked Iraq if she were president in 2002 and would end the war if elected, as she tried to blunt rivals like John Edwards who are stoking anti-war passions in the Democratic Party

Mean while in the Mitt Romney accused Clinton of being a coward.

BALTIMORE (AP) – Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney on Friday accused Democratic front-runner Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton of “timidity” regarding the security threat posed by Iran.

In a speech to a retreat of conservative congressional Republicans, Romney lashed out at Clinton for telling a pro-Israel dinner that a dialogue with countries hostile to Israel – including Iran and Syria – is needed to promote peace in the Middle East.

In 2003 Mrs. Clinton recognized Saddam Hussien as a threat.   Now, Clinton says she would not have attacked Hussien, even thou see believed that Hussien posed a threat of weapons of mass destruction.

If Mrs. Clinton was not wiling in 2003 to deal with the threat of Hussien, we have no reason to believe she would be willing to deal with the threat of a nuclear Iran.

Mrs. Clinton you are no Lady Thatcher.

Mrs. Clinton if  you take all the oil comanies profits, they will have no reason to remain in business and we wil have no fuel for our cars.
