As Yogi Berra would say:

When you come to a fork in the road, you take it.

The Palestinians have come to such a fork, and they can take but only one path.  The Age(AU) clearly sees the problem, although they fail to indentify it.

Instead, they hoped Hamas would be more honest and active than Fatah, and more pragmatic than its own hardline charter, which calls for the destruction of Israel, instead moving towards negotiations for an independent Palestinian state living in peace beside it.

A year later and with the 40th anniversary of the occupation of the West Bank and Gaza Strip coming up in June, the “two-state solution” looks further away than at any time in at least the past 15 years, and the rival Palestinian factions have turned on each other.

The choice for the Palestinians is simple.  They can either opt for the one state, war,  solution, by the elimination of the State of Israel, or they can opt for the two state solution, peace with Israel.   The Palestinians can not be both committed to the destruction of the State of Israel and be at peace with Israel.

The office of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is pressing the Bush administration for routine access to military aircraft for domestic flights, such as trips back to her San Francisco district, according to sources familiar with the discussions.
    The sources, who include those in Congress and in the administration, said the Democrat is seeking regular military flights not only for herself and her staff, but also for relatives and for other members of the California delegation. A knowledgeable source called the request “carte blanche for an aircraft any time.”

BOSTON– (Boston Herald)- A furious Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino vowed yesterday to throw the book at the masterminds behind a guerrilla marketing campaign gone amok that plunged the city into bomb-scare pandemonium and blew nearly $1 million in police overtime and other costs.

As city and state attorneys laid groundwork for restitution requests, cops seized 27-year-old Arlington multimedia artist Peter Berdovsky, who posted film on his Web site boasting that he and and Sean Stevens, 28, of Charlestown, planted the battery-wired devices.

One of these morons, if he isn’t long-term jailed, will most certainly be deported, being originally from Belarus, and here on some kind of a visiting visa. (Afraid I’ve not gotten details on that one yet. )

While the screams of the city fathers as regards the disruption of the day to day life and commerce in Boston are quite correct, those concerns are secondary in my view. The big concern here is the large number of people who are claiming that the Boston police overreacted to the situation. Apparently, those making the claim have forgotten that less than a mile from where one of these things was hung, a pair of 9/11 hijackers got on the plane with the intent to crash it into the World Trade Center.

That, I think, is the real story here… The question asked a few years ago, “Have you forgotten?” apparently has been answered, in large part, with a ‘yes’.

Doug Mellgren, use a cheap trick to push his watermelon agenda:

There may be a prereuisite, in theory at least, to win the Nobel Peace prize.  The only prerequisite for getting nominated is having some fool write a letter and mail to the commitee.

In that vein, the Landmark Legal Foundation Nominates Rush Limbaugh for 2007 Nobel Peace Prize:

The New York Times posts pictures of a video of a dying American Fighting Man.   Pinch Sulzberger’s minions showed no respect for the soldier’s family, or the agreement the paper made with the military to gain access.

The Associated Press reports the slow death of a newspaper:

NEW YORK (AP) — The New York Times Co. posted a $648 million loss for the fourth quarter on Wednesday as it absorbed an $814.4 million charge to write down the value of its struggling New England properties, The Boston Globe and the Worcester Telegram & Gazette.

Pinch can’t run a newspaper.  He should quit telling the President  how to run the country.   When the Times is dead and gone, who will mourn?  Who will mourn?

During her first visit as a presidential candidate to early-caucus state Iowa, Sen. Hillary Clinton spoke out strongly in favor of boosting the production of ethanol in the United States. But that’s a complete turnaround from her earlier actions regarding the alternative fuel, which is made from corn – and could provide a big boost to the economy of agricultural Iowa.

But as a Senator from New York, Clinton has voted at least 17 times against measures promoting ethanol production, the RNC noted.

During a question-and-answer session in 2004, Clinton was asked about “her outspoken opposition to legislation that would double the use of ethanol as a gasoline additive,” the Des Moines Register reported at the time.

“She was momentarily stumped by a question as to why she opposed the ethanol mandate, but then said she was concerned that it would raise gasoline prices for her constituents.”

 

Clinton reportedly said: “I have to look to first protecting and supporting the needs of the people I represent right now.”

In 2002, Clinton even signed a letter that read in part: “There is no sound public policy reason for mandating the use of ethanol.”

David Pasztor, managing editor of the Texas Observer, confirmed her death.

This was the third time being treated for this.

Give her marks for consistency, at least…. she was wrong 90% of the time. And of course, she sounded cutsey, doing it.

BOSTON — FOX– More than 10 blinking electronic devices planted at bridges and other spots in Boston threw a scare into the city in what turned out to be a publicity campaign for a late-night cable cartoon. The devices depict a character making an obscene gesture. Boston police said Wednesday night that Peter Berdvosky, 27, of Arlington, had been arrested and charged with one count each of placing a hoax device and disorderly conduct in connection to the devices. Police did not offer further details about Berdvosky, who officials say could face prison time and restitution for the cost of the incident.

Banning the network certainly wouldn’t be undeserved . At the very least the network ought to pay bigtime damages. After the promotional gimmick that cost a woman her life a couple weeks ago, literally drowning in her own tissues, is the time that some attention gets paid to thinking promotions through before implementing them?

I agree, it’s a bear trying to convince mainstream America that blacks are not prone to look and act as depected by the students, when you see the “bling” chasing morons on every city street corner, and in every rap vid ever made, (As a quick example, this pic of “50 Cent”…) and in every NBA locker room, and so on, acting just as the students have depected them. He’s got a serious image problem, which is nearly impossible to overcome. However, I submit that at the root of the image problem is that the image exists in real life, not that it’s being imitated.

When applied to this situation, the problem isn’t that laws are being made to stop the practices of stoning women to death in public, burning them alive or throwing acid on them…. it’s that people associate radical Islam with the practice. Your problem is not that the law exists, but that the practices do. And that’s a point that you tacitly acknowledged when you raised your objection. Nothing was said in a law about Islam in particular. You’re the one that broached that subject. …

* Oh, speaking of which, The religion of peace strikes again. Noted at The Jawa Report…. Doctor Rusty Shackleford notes an article in The Sun:

The fact that the arrests were made in Birmingham could suggest that soldiers recovering from wounds in military hospitals there might have been targeted….

The cunning plot represents a huge change in tactics by al Qaeda and its supporters….

They understand the power and importance of the media and the influence it can bring around the world on governments.

like I said; the problem isn’t that the law exists, it’s that the practice exists. If you want to stop the association of such practices to Islam, then maybe you’d better speak to your fellow Muslims about it.

* It has become clear that in terms of a presidential candidate Christopher Dodd has become a laughingstock. David Lichtman over at the Hartford Courant notes :

WASHINGTON — When pollster John Zogby asked a group of 339 likely Democratic voters earlier this month whom they wanted for president in 2008, one or two mentioned Connecticut’s senior senator.

One or 2 percent mentioned Christopher Dodd?

No. One or two people, Zogby said.

Like I said when he first declared: A non-factor. and I suspect that he knew that going in. Which leaves us, logically, with the questions; what the heck was he running for the first place? There’s money involved here, somewhere.

Follow me on this one.  Sticking his foot ever so deeply into  his mouth, Joe Biden said:

“I mean, you’ve got the first sort of mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that’s a story-book, man,”

Biden says he apologized to Barack Obama:

“This is a guy who’s come along in a way that’s captured the imagination of the country in a way that no one else has. That was the point of everything I was saying,”

For his part Obama claims to to accepted Biden’s apology:

“I didn’t take Sen. Biden’s comments personally, but obviously they were historically inaccurate,” Obama said. “African-American presidential candidates like Jesse Jackson, Shirley Chisholm, Carol Moseley Braun and Al Sharpton gave a voice to many important issues through their campaigns, and no one would call them inarticulate.”

Now in review, Biden calls Obama, “articulate and bright and clean.”    Obama in turns says that but, “Jesse Jackson, Shirley Chisholm, Carol Moseley Braun and Al Sharpton” were articulate.   Well I give the senator three out four.  But what of bright and clean?.    Is Obama saying that Jackson, Chisholm, Moseley Braun and Sharpton were not clean?   I think the senator is on to something.

So, we pay the soldiers a decent wage, take care of their families, provide them with housing and medical care and vast social support systems and ship obscene amenities into the war zone for them, we support them in every possible way, and their attitude is that we should in addition roll over and play dead, defer to the military and the generals and let them fight their war, and give up our rights and responsibilities to speak up because they are above society?

So speaks the reprobate, William Arkin in the Washington Post.   Arkin writes what Sean Penn would write if Penn where but literate.

If you care for restrained and literate responce to Arkin try, Hugh Hewit, or John Hindracker.   If restraint is not your cup of tea, go for Uncle Jimbo.   Bravo Zulu, Uncle Jimbo.

Joe Biden(D-Del) has spent over half his life in the United States Senate.   No person can be a member of such a stiffling and self-absorbed institution for so many long decades and retain any sense of modesty.  Certanily Biden has none.  Nor sanity.

As arrogant and outspoken as Biden is, it doesn’t enhance his presidential aspirations, but it does at least make for good copy.

Side step, in the Examiner, Bill Sammon, in attemting to explain Barack Obama’s ultra liberal voting record with his moderate rhetoric, quotes Obama  as saying:

“The arguments of liberals are more often grounded in reason and fact.”  

Sammon then proceeds to provide zero examples of Obama’s imagined liberal more reasoned positions.   I assume Sammon provided none, because there are none.

Slide back to Biden, Jason Horowitz in the New York Observer, attributes to Biden the idea that: 

Barack Obama is offering charming but insubstantial fluff.

So there you have it a Obama quote and a Biden analysis.

Appendum:  More on Biden’s foot in mouth disease.  From the same New York Observer article:

Mr. Biden meet Mr. Michael Steele, video, video.  Ok, Steele lost his campagn for the Senate in Maryland.   However Steele has all the attributes Biden attributes to Obama, bright, articulate, clean and nice looking.

Then I posted a Steele video because I figuired it would easier to find than an Alan  Keyes video.  Yes Mr. Biden there are bright, articulate blacks.   They just don’t tend to be democrats.

 The socialists are up in arms because of the ICE raids in the LA area last month. Of course they label such efforts ‘racial profiling’.

Perhaps it’s just me, but if I’m looking for people here illegally who originally lived in Mexico, I’m not looking for people with a German, or a French accent. I’m not looking for Eskimos. Given the conditions, how can one NOT come up with a majority of ethnic Mexicans?
