This is not a test!

A passing thought about Kerry’s seeking a global test for any move we make;Franklin is quoted as saying a Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for dinner. The UN is a pure democracy.

Israel has been smart enough not to tie their defense actions to UN approval. Had Israel waited for the ‘global test’ he seeks, it would be molten glass right now.

I’d sooner we didn’t make the mistake of tying our defense to world approval.
Kinda makes you wonder what Kerry’s thikning about; it certainly isn’t our security.

I’ll be reading it today and pulling bits out of it. On the whole, it depended on what you were looking for, when you ask who won…

I’ll give The Style contest to Kerry. Clearly, he’s been training.
However, the substance contest goes to the President.

Several points:

KERRY: Jim, let me tell you exactly what I’ll do. And there are a long list of thing. First of all, what kind of mixed message does it send when you have $500 million going over to Iraq to put police officers in the streets of Iraq, and the president is cutting the COPS program in America?

Kerry, as is his wont, is ignoring the fact that the COPS program… was a sham and remains so today.

KERRY: What kind of message does it send to be sending money to open firehouses in Iraq, but we’re shutting firehouses who are the first- responders here in America?

What it says is that Kerry’s blowing smoke for the benefit of the Unions he’s beholding to. It also means that the locus of the problem isn’t here in America, but rather has moved to Iraq. Sounds preferable to me.

KERRY:You know, it’s interesting. When I was in a rope line just the other day, coming out here from Wisconsin, a couple of young returnees were in the line, one active duty, one from the Guard. And they both looked at me and said: We need you. You’ve got to help us over there.

Ah, yes. Rather like the foreign leaders who support him… the ones he can’t name.

And the exchange of the night, to my memory…. an un-edited portion of the transcript. Kerry contradicts himself inside of a one minute period… this has gotta be a new record.

BUSH:My opponent says help is on the way, but what kind of message does it say to our troops in harm’s way, “wrong war, wrong place, wrong time”? Not a message a commander in chief gives, or this is a “great diversion.”

As well, help is on the way, but it’s certainly hard to tell it when he voted against the $87-billion supplemental to provide equipment for our troops, and then said he actually did vote for it before he voted against it.

Not what a commander in chief does when you’re trying to lead troops.

LEHRER: Senator Kerry, 30 seconds.

KERRY: Well, you know, when I talked about the $87 billion, I made a mistake in how I talk about the war. But the president made a mistake in invading Iraq. Which is worse?

I believe that when you know something’s going wrong, you make it right. That’s what I learned in Vietnam. When I came back from that war I saw that it was wrong. Some people don’t like the fact that I stood up to say no, but I did. And that’s what I did with that vote. And I’m going to lead those troops to victory.

LEHRER: All right, new question. Two minutes, Senator Kerry.

Speaking of Vietnam, you spoke to Congress in 1971, after you came back from Vietnam, and you said, quote, “How do you ask a man to be the last man to die for a mistake?”

Are Americans now dying in Iraq for a mistake?

KERRY: No, and they don’t have to, providing we have the leadership that we put — that I’m offering.

OK, did you see that? Here’s the edit, to bring up the sharpness a bit:

KERRY>“….the president made a mistake in invading Iraq.”

LEHRER: “Are Americans now dying in Iraq for a mistake?”

KERRY: “No”.

One wonders what they are they dying for, by Kerry’s lights.  Either a free Iraq is a worthwhile target, a valid response, a noble deed, or it’s not. Kerry contradicts himself directly on Iraq being a mistake. Flip-flopping inside of a one minute period. Gotta be a new record.

Enough. More as I find time today, and have the interest… but this is typical Kerry… all hat, no cows.

Say Anything notes that John Kerry is now making noises about how upset he is at the price of oil. and is now claiming the president’s at fault.

Perhaps he should be checking his logs because as Rob points out, six months ago, Kerry was acusing the Presdient of arranging to have oikl prices dropped right before the election.

The issue he considers worse than all of these thugs he’s supported over the years, is of course, Republican control of Florida.

Reading this gives one a better understanding of the reaction of Sumner Redsone last week… and basicly confirms my original ideas in the matter of why he came out supposedly supporting Bush.

If a lightweight like Diane Sawyer can trip up John Kerry, how hard will it be for any REAL news people? Is this why Kerry has been shunning the press?

“You would think that with all of the heat CBS is getting over their bogus forged-documents story, they would have the sense to not do it again. You would be wrong. Unbelievably, CBS News is once again serving their masters at the Democratic Party in a very obvious way. Here’s the latest.

CBS ran a story about the possibility of the draft returning. The only problem? There is zero chance of the draft returning. The only people that have brought it up are Democrats who are trying to invent a mythical issue to bash President Bush with. Anyone who says the draft might return is lying. There will be no return of the draft. The administration, the Pentagon…all have said it clearly: no draft.”

Bill at INDC got off an interview with Richard Schlesinger of See BS, who coughed up some answer that were lame enough to make Tiny Tim look like a Break Dancer. (By the way, Good Job, Bill…)

The NY Post this morning notes that

“What Rather & Co. did not tell their viewers is that she is an activist ? the head of the Pennsylvania chapter of People Against the Draft, an allegedly bipartisan group that opposes not only the draft but also the war in Iraq, arguing for a “peaceful, rational foreign policy.”

CBS also didn’t tell us that Cocco’s self-styled crusade was prompted, as she has publicly admitted, by a widely discredited e-mail campaign. “

Look, if they’re non-partisan, I’ll eat my keyboard. I will damned well guarantee you that their funding is coming directly from George Soros. Think; Why is it they simply spring into existence NOW?

At any rate, the article goes on to point out that John Kerry himself has charged that Bush would start the draft again. So did Kerry’s dimwitted lap dog, Max Cleland.  There seems a rather obviously coordinated effort here, to spread this lie. It seems clear, too that as the Post suggests this morning… that See BS is part of the plan… where they help spread this lie when…

…”Dan Rather runs with what amounts to an unpaid ad for the Kerry-Edwards ticket.

Is he a moron, incapable of learning anything from the forged-memo fiasco?

The USGS is reporting that the shakes out in California continue after that 6.0 hip-shaker yesterday. Between this and the lava flows going on at Mt St Helens, they’re talking in rather hushed tones about the possibility of a big event soon. Speaking of Backcountry Conservative, Jeff notes with a smile that Foster Barton’s attacker has been arrested. He quotes a local TV stations, thuly:

“Brent Cornwell, 28, of Blacklick, was arrested Tuesday night by Columbus police. He was charged with felonious assault Wednesday morning at a Delaware County Municipal Court video arraignment.

A judge set bond at $15,000. Cornwell was ordered to be on house arrest.

Foster Barton, 19, of Grove City, was on leave from the war in Iraq earlier this month when he said he was beaten in the parking lot after a Toby Keith concert at Germain Amphitheater.

Barton said his attacker beat him up because he was wearing an Operation Iraqi Freedom T-shirt.”

I can only shake my head and ask again what someone so opposed to the war in Iraq was doing at a Toby Keith Concert…. Toby’s been quite vocal about supportout our actions and our troops.

Backcountry Conservative has a “Help Wanted” sign out. He’s going to be out of action for a bit and wants someone to take over the helm.

I’d make the offer but I don’t know if I’m up to his level of quality. (shrug)
