Well, now… I was just kinda surfing around and what did I find, but an article written for
The Guardian by Osama bin Laden, of all people.

Read the article. If you read it closely and think about where you’ve heard most of it, you’re going to be shocked to see that most of it echoes the mantra the Un-American left has been chanting for quite a while, now.

The Democrats are complaining on how long the war is taking but consider this:

– It took less time to take Iraq than it took Janet Reno to take the Branch Davidian compound. That was a 51-day operation.

– It took less time to find Saddam in Iraq than it took Hillary Clinton to find the Rose Law Firm billing records.

– It took less time for the 3rd Infantry Division and the Marines to destroy the Medina Republican Guard than it took Teddy Kennedy to call the police after his Oldsmobile sunk at Chappaquiddick.

– It took less time to take Iraq than it took to count the votes in Florida.

Concealed Carry Bill Passes in Ohio — 01/08/2004:

“(CNSNews.com) – The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms is urging Ohio Gov. Bob Taft to quickly sign a bill that will allow law-abiding Ohio citizens to carry concealed firearms for their own protection.

After much back-and-forth, the Ohio Legislature finally passed the concealed carry bill on Wednesday. People wishing to carry concealed weapons would have to apply for a permit, pay a fee, and undergo background checks and gun training.
CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb noted that Gov. Taft campaigned on a promise to sign concealed-carry legislation, and then found various excuses not to back such a bill. Now that the Legislature has satisfied the governor’s concerns, ‘it’s time for Taft to keep his word,’ Gottlieb said in a press release.”

Agreed.

Mr. Taft, it’s time to get off your butt, and really DO something for crime prevention. Sign the Bill into law.

John Hawkins (of Right Wing News fame) writes an excellent article today, which basicly destroys the “Bush Led Us To War only on non-existant WMD” mantra that the left has been chanting.

“To begin with, this argument that Bush kept emphasizing that we were in ‘imminent danger’ can be quickly and easily disposed of. That’s because the whole concept behind making preemptive strikes runs counter to the idea of waiting until a threat is ‘imminent’. “

Funny how that bit of logic seems to have given the left a slip…

One of the biggest arguments over the last few years, on the opinion pages and on Usenet, and more recently in the Blog responders, tends to pop up when the name of Hitler is invoked as a standard for comparison. The usual leftist mantra runs that when we compare (insert Hillary here) to Hitler, ala “Hitlery”, it’s a sure sign that the person doing such comparisons is running out of valid points, and has certainly lost both the argument and any credibility inside or outside of said discussion.

So here comes The George Soros hit squad called MOVEON, with it’s recent competition, wherein they posted ads from their followers making exactly that comparison.

MOVEON, of course is swearing they didn’t know, they’re not responsible, they regret not having caught the ads before they made it to the site, and so on. MoveOn.org spokesman Trevor Fitzgibbon said, “we had no idea the Hitler thing even existed.”

So, what rock have you been living under, Trevor? Have you even been reading the output of your rank and file supporters? Have you even been actually reading your own website?

A look in alt.politics will give you the clue… Even a shallow search of Google’s Usenet portal displays hundreds of thousands of posts and their replies, most going back years. A similar search on the web pages shows an even larger number of hits. I find it hard to fathom that a group of people so centered on the net wouldn’t know this kind of non-thinking was out there. Sorry, this innocent act doesn’t wash. This is Soros driving this.

If you think Hitler comparison is not part and parcel of the Democrats and their political smear campaign, ask yourself a question: Which one of the nine wannabees will stand up and speak out against the trend that’s been noted here?

None, I expect. We’ve not seen them do so yet, and I doubt there will be any. No, the silence on this one will remain. The reason for their silence is clear enough; They think they benefit from it, or at the least, they think denouncing these tactics will harm them with the core Democrat voter.

OK, admittedly, those are just the leaders of the party, and may not reflect the views of the Democrat rank and file. So, lets test that aspect, by asking a similar question.

Where are the Democrat rank and file speaking out on the news channels, and in the public forums? Where are the letters of protest? There are few; because so many of them don’t disagree with the portrayal of Bush as worse than Hitler. And more, is it just a relative few who are generating all this internet traffic making this absurd comparison?

No, the silence on this one from the Democrat rank and file, too, will remain.  This collective silence from the whole of the Democrat party speaks volumes, I think.

I’ve brought these points up in various discussion groups over the last few days, and have been told on a few occasions that I’m letting a few radicals define the Democrat party.  Aside from balking at the phrase ‘a few’. let me submit that leftist radicalism IS the Democrat party of today.

The argument is easy to make and hard to defeat, because words mean things. Allow me to point out that ‘radical’ is from words meaning, literally, “from the root’. I don’t think it can be denied that the ads under discussion here, are if nothing else, radical left, and given the definition of the word radical, they demonstrate clearly where the roots of the Democrat party are today.

There are of course thousands more examples of this kind of Democrat hate, and proof of where it comes from.

But here’s the bottom line: Even if you assume MOVEON’s innocence in the matter…(a large unwarranted assumption, in my view) this incident still exposes what is driving the left. Sheer hatred, and nothing more, even by their own definitions. I’ve said this for years, for all the lip service they pay to ‘stopping hate’…with them it’s not that you hate, or not, but what you hate. This is not love of country driving these people, it’s hatred for it. This is desperation in search of a path back to power.

One can certainly understand their motivations, here. Consider their plight;

President Bush has Iraq fully in hand, and we now know where the WMD are, (Syria) that the left has been claiming Mr. Bush was lying about. Here’s the Blog entry I did a few days ago, containing lots of links to stories the left hopes you’ll never see.

The Afghan people have a new constitution, (another story you didn’t know about, thanks to our supposedly mainstream press) and the Taliban, what there is left of them, are on the run. Their supports removed, the PLO is no longer a major factor. Libya has fallen into line. Korea, as well.

On the domestic front, President Bush has managed to get a drug bill into law that the left has never been able to, even when they held power in all three branches, by a wider margin than the Republicans do today, indicating the success rates they’ll have at getting the job done when given more of a majority. Bush also has the Domestic economy flying high, the markets are sailing along as they have not done since Ronald Reagan was in office.

Look at the numbers for the last year:
DJIA +25.3%
S&P 500 +26.4%
Nasdaq +50.0%

Jobless rates are coming back down, pay is going up, productivity is also going up. The states are back out of the financial trouble they were in under Bill Clinton.

Speaking of which, the American public need not be concerned anymore about their president having the sexual behavior of the average stray terrier, humping every leg that comes by.

In the overall, respect for the office has now been reinstated, and Americans are feeling pretty good about their country.  As a result, the polls are continuing to show Mr. Bush with sky-high approval ratings, week on week on week.

All these trends are looking like they will continue to improve, with Bush at the helm.

Here’s the rub for the Democrats in all of this. In any election, the task set before anyone seeking to oust an incumbent, is to convince the voting public that moving away from the incumbent and his policies, are in the interests of that voting public, and the country as a whole. So, the Democrats are desperate because, bluntly, their task of explaining to the voter why replacing the man responsible for all this good news, is in their best interest, is getting ever more impossible, and frankly downright laughable. All the Democrats can offer is moves away from what is demonstrably working well. In short, they’re hoping the American voter is stupid.

But, from now on, when you hear about this MOVEON outrage, this Hitler/Bush being pushed by George Soros and tolerated by the Democrat leaders and agreed with by the Democrat rank and file, you need to think about this:

If we’re to take them at their word of just a few short Monica kneepad sessions ago, they’re telling us, they’re running out of options, and have certainly lost both the argument and any credibility inside or outside of said discussion.  And, they most certainly don’t deserve our vote.

Go ahead; tell me how the Democrats don’t have anything to do with this nonsense.

Yeah, I’m playing with the look a bit.
Blogger in case you don’t know, uses CSS. I’ve been taking a crash refresher course in CSS to try and get this page looking better. I was never happy with the stock CSS Blogger provided, though given it was free, I didn’t bitch.

It’s better than it was, but still, I’m less than fully happy with both the Blog’s looks and rest of my pages as well, and have been trying to see if I can integrate one CSS into both pages… and here’s where I’m finding FRONTPAGE falls down a bit; Modifying the CSS directly doesn’t seem to be a forte of FP, particularly when it draws CSS from offsite settings.

(Shrug) I’ll work it out.

Vermont town wants to secede, join New Hampshire

“Officials in Killington want the town to secede from Vermont and join the neighboring state because of a dispute over taxes. They say the town’s restaurants, inns and other businesses rake in ten (m) million dollars a year for the state — but gets just a (m) million dollars of state aid in return.”

In short, they want to leave because of the policies of one Howard the Duck… errrrr… Howard the Dean.

iowahawk: Why I Am a Democrat

I suggest putting down anything you’re eating and drinking, or any pets or small children before reading this one. Thanks to the Dog for flushing this one out.

WSJ this morning has an article about Bush’s immigration reform proposals.:

“Mr. Bush’s guest-worker proposal would create a legal means–a renewable three-year work visa–for new immigrants to enter the country and take jobs that Americans don’t want. Illegal immigrants already living here would become eligible for guest-worker status after paying a fine. The plan also would allow for circular migration, which means that farm hands could return home to their families after the harvest without worrying about another life-risking trek back to the U.S. Immigrant workers would enjoy the protection of our labor laws and be able to quit or switch jobs without fear of deportation.”

Many are upset thinking that Mr. Bush is pandering to the Hispanic vote, but the polling numbers simply do not bear out that argument.

Rather the reverse is true; Mr. Bush is actually hurting himself slightly be making this move, among Hispanic voters, who for the most part feel that they got here in legal fashion, and so should others. Likely Mr. Bush knew this going in, so logic suggests he has another motive; The most likely reason, clearly would be…….(here’s that word again) …..Security.

The fact is that the biggest attraction to this plan is the added security that it provides, by means of being a vehicle for tracking people coming into the country. As the Journal points out:

“Valuable homeland security resources are now being squandered chasing down Honduran gardeners instead of more likely terrorist threats. Giving them legal status would let the law-abiding move out into the open and away from possible exploitation by cynical employers or landlords.”

Granted that in this context, the phrase “law abiding” takes on a slightly more moral and less legalistic meaning. Perhaps they should have suggested ‘less threatening” as their catch phrase, yet the point is made.

Two Democrats Accuse Dean Camp of Dirty Tricks

To the shock of nobody, except perhaps Dean Supporters, who will doubtless deny it ever happened, it looks like Dean’s being shipping people into Iowa to pose as Dean Supporters who live in Iowa. A lot easier to sel yourself as a success when the room’s full, I guess.

“Richard Gephardt’s campaign manager, Steve Murphy, said a Dean field organizer told a Gephardt staff member that some of the expected 3,500 out-of-state Dean supporters coming to Iowa to turn out the caucus vote would try to infiltrate the process.”

But of course Dean’s lying, in effect and in reality, about the support he’s getting. Dean lied? Big shock, huh?

Here’s the quick version:

He’s suggesting people for keeping drugs illegal, are bigots. Bigots? Yep. He’s serious, too. His arguments are usually well thought out, but like Sullivan and homosexual behavior, sometimes he goes off the deep end, and this is one such time.

“Bigot? Ladies & gentlemen, “bigotry” is not essentially about booger-eating hillbillies who hate “niggers” or Teutonic skinheads who live to stomp “kikes”. Those are some of the more common manifestations of bigotry, but the principle of the matter is far more fundamental — lower-level, which means: it requires greater effort of logical analysis in order to (in the ordinary and apt colloquialism) “get to the bottom of it”, and it is essentially about two intimately connected branches of philosophy: epistemology and ethics.

The essence of bigotry is about a refusal to think”

So, Billy, Tell us; does that make people who take drugs bigots?

Doubly so, given that it’s a non-thinking act, given the grave risks involved for the returns, both to the individual and to the society as a whole…. and the very act is designed for one purpose… it turns one into even more of a mind-numbed non-thinking idiot, even on those occasions when the druggie doesn’t manage to inflict any damage on anyone else. The act of drug taking is an act designed to accomplish nothing more than, in Billy’s own words, willfully divorce one’s self from reality.

As I say, I’m interested he can’t see that rather gaping hole in his argument; he’s usually a very smart guy.

Then again, Sullivan is, too, except on one topic. Long time readers of this blog will understand the reference.  Looks to me like a similar blind spot to me, on a different topic.

The similarities in the lack of logic on one topic, are disquieting.

Lotto suit dropped, says she’d lied:

“CLEVELAND (AP) – A woman said through tears Thursday that she lied about losing the winning ticket for a $162 million lottery prize awarded to another woman.

‘I wanted to win,’ Battle said. ‘The numbers were so overwhelming. I did buy a ticket and I lost. I wanted to win so bad for my kids and my family. I apologize.'”

Well, at least the Democrats have a voter, assuming she’s not in jail next November, huh?

I generally don’t bother posting NYT articles, for a few reasons… their demands we ‘register’ is one such. As a rule I won’t link to anything that isn’t in the clear; I figure there’s no reason inthe world for it NOT to be,and so refuse to give anyone who demands such ‘registration’ the hits. That, and in the case of the NYT, I don’t want them getting the hits anyway.

So, if you’ve not bowed to their deamnds and signed up for the NYT, don’t bother doing it here, for Dowd’s latest anti-Bush screed.

Vodka Pundit has the column covered, and debunks it pretty completely. Worth a read.

Ya know, every time I read a Dowd column, I’m forced by her scribbling to recall she works for the paper of Jayson Blair… and it all fits, at that point. she’s simply doing what her Boss wants: Work to remove George W Bush form the White House. Lie if you have to, twist if you have to, but get rid of the Republicans.
