Do you think this type of leadership is peculiar just to demonstrations in England? Many of the anti-war demonstrations in the United States have been either funded or organized by a group called International ANSWER (Act Now to Stop War and End Racism). International ANSWER is affiliated with a group called the International Action Center (IAC) , and the leader of that group is none other than Ramsey Clark. Some have gone so far as to identify the IAC as a Stalinist organization. Ramsey Clark, by the way, was retained by Iraq as their U.S. attorney prior to the liberation. Other groups affiliated with ANSWER and the IAC would be the Green (Socialist) Party USA, the New Communist Party of the Netherlands, International Family and Friends of (cop killer) Mumia Abu-Jamal and other leftist and/or anti-American groups.
Want more? On January 18th of this year the Workers World Party staged anti-American demonstrations on the East and West coasts. Washington and San Francisco. The Workers World Party is a heavy supporter of North Korea’s gargoyle Kim Jong Il. The principal organizer of these rallies was Brian Becker. Becker is a board member of both ANSWER and the IAC and is a member of the secretariat of the Workers World Party in the United States.
OK .. enough. You get the picture. There is no shortage of people who hate America and who would willingly do America harm in the antiwar movement in this country. Sure, the demonstrations are and should remain legal. It’s a free country, and I have no problem with communists, fascists … whoever … peacefully demonstrating against the actions of our government. If, however, these coalitions of antiwar and sometimes anti-American leftists serve as a breeding ground for violent plots against Americans or American targets, we need to know it.
Thing is, we’re not being told in the press who it is who is putting these things together. The people who are responsible for telling us about such matters…. the press… has decided we don’t need to know. Just like they also decided we didn’t need to know that just under half of the few protestors they did manage to get to show up were from outside the country.
Given the history of the so-called mainstream press in this country leaning to the left, it’s not very hard to figure out why they would make those choices.
Bruce Cole writes in today’s WSJ.
Cole is the chairman of the National Endowment for the Humanities… and apparently an excellent writer. He makes an argument I’ve made for years as regards our cultural values, and our ability to pass such on to our progeny.
Normally, I am rather stoutly against social spending willy nilly. However, I consider, as I have said, that the original and primary purpose of government was supposed to be
to protect and extend the culture that erected it and gave it life. As such making sure our cultural values and our cultural history, in particular, are worthy and proper tasks for government to undertake, in general.
Here’s the money lines:
“Such collective amnesia is dangerous. Citizens kept ignorant of their history are robbed of the riches of their heritage, and handicapped in their ability to understand and appreciate other cultures.
If Americans cannot recall whom we fought, and whom we fought alongside, during World War II, it should not be assumed that they will long remember what happened on September 11 or why we must be prepared and vigilant today. And a nation that does not know why it exists, or what it stands for, cannot be expected to long endure. As columnist George Will wrote, ‘We cannot defend what we cannot define.’ “

I hope the higher-ups at the campaign just haven’t read Rall’s column that I cite above, and haven’t heard of his general reputation. (I really do hope this: Though I don’t want to see Howard Dean elected, I even less want to see that the leaders of the Democratic front-runner’s campaign know Rall’s stuff and despite that cherish his endorsement — that would be a very bad thing for America.) Today, Howard Dean’s website responds enthusiastically to an endorsement from Ted Rall. You would think they’d know better. This is like Bush accepting an endosement from Michael Savage’s nastier brother. I fully expect saner heads to prevail and disavow, as this will be death with the center come the general election. – The Interocitor
It’s what I’ve stated in this blog repeatedly;
This marxist nonsense that Rall is known for, is exactly what the left as a whole, at a foundational level, stands for. That Dean has bought into this, that he feels he has to sell himself to Rall’s Marxist followers, is proof of what the left of today is about, and Dean, without saying so is admitting it. He’s saying he has to pass the muster of those who follow this wacko left agenda to get the Democrat nomination. It’s either that, or Dean is a Marxist himself, else Dean’s an idiot who didn’t know what kind of Slimeball Rall is, that he was getting hooked up with… and frankly, I’m not sure which is worse. In any event, is this really someone we want as President?
But more frightening, yet, and more proof of what I say; will we see any Democrats disavowing this move by Dean? I doubt it. Perhaps more to the point: Will we see any Democrats disavowing Rall at all, Dean or no? Again, I doubt it.
