The Democrats are still demanding government be open the before they talk about funding the wall. They sound like Wimpy from the Popeye cartoons. “I’ll gladly pay you tomorrow for a hamburger today.”

Jim Daws, over at the American Thinker suggests that the President has the Democrats cornered on this one. I think he’s right. Even the traditional wacko left such as Cher Bono are saying the Democrats have overplayed their hand.
Why on Earth should the President give up the leverage that he’s got in this situation?

The moment his name came up for Republican leader in the House, I was suspicious. His “teamwork”, we will call it, with Paul Ryan is one major reason why.
Remember Paul Ryan kept telling the president that he didn’t have the votes for the wall, and when it came down to it… he had more than enough votes… Overwhelming numbers.
The only reason Ryan didn’t want to bring it to the floor because he doesn’t believe in it.
I have long since come to believe that McCarthy has the same problem, the same lack of belief in actually being conservative.
Now, before you tell me this, I will say that Kevin McCarthy has in the past come out repeatedly for border security. Including, the wall. Thing is, so did Chuck Schumer.
Now, long time readers to this website will know that we have been calling for a long time for a complete change of GOP leadership. We have been saying that the American people, and particularly the GOP rank-and-file has longed for such a change, believing that there is a huge disconnect between the GOP leadership and the GOP rank-and-file.
I have to tell you in all honesty that it’s going to take some serious convincing for me personally to believe that Kevin McCarthy doesn’t suffer from that disconnect, and is the wrong choice for minority leader in the House.

Can any culture—British, American or any other—raise “rough men” ready to defend it against a ruthless enemy when it cannot even fix in the minds of its developing youth what their sex is? What would Winston say? I’ll take Sgt. Jason McClary any day.
The answer of course is no, they cannot. Interestingly enough, the Russians and the Chinese aren’t having that problem. Perhaps it’s time for us to examine just why that is. For all the worry about Russian influence on our elections, maybe it’s time we examined the rock being created in our culture at least some of it by the Russians…. encouraged by the UnAmerican left.
There’s this, also… The mentioning of Winston Churchill brings to mind the first action of the Obama White House, removing the bust of Winston Churchill from the oval office, and for the last 30 years or so, at least since the end of the prime ministership of Margaret Thatcher, the attempt on the part of the British government to separate itself from Churchill’s legacy.

According to a report at the Michigan Star:
A Change.org petition calling for the impeachment of Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI-13) already has close to 160,000 signatures.
“This woman is an anti-Semite, a war mongering hate filled Palestinian who has vowed to try and destroy our constitutional rights, hates America, hates American citizens,” the petition states. “She’s a danger to our sovereignty, a detriment to society, and to this country, and is unfit to serve in any capacity within our government.”
Apparently, at least some folks can still properly identify problems.
Let me start this out by saying that there is only one reason why the Democrats in Congress are putting up such a stink about putting up the rest of the wall on the Mexican border. It’s because they hate Donald Trump, because he is a check on their power.
The Democrats know that their chances of obtaining the White House and for that matter holding onto their 2018 Congressional gains, are completely gone if the wall goes up as Trump demands.
Everything else, and I mean everything else being offered by the Democrats at this point is completely vacuous, particularly in light of their previous positions on the subject.
The Democrat desperation, which is displayed as their hatred for Donald Trump is the only reason that anyone can come up with to explain their 180-degree turnaround.

I am on record many times as saying that the primary motivation for Democrats is their power. When they pull a shameless flip flop like this, and hope that nobody sees it, you know that they’re feeling their power threatened.
So, we’re 20 days into this supposed government shutdown. And the funny part is the world hasn’t ended yet.
Of course, this runs precisely contrary to the wailing and gnashing of teeth coming from Democrats of late.
The fact of the matter is what we’re dealing with is a number of governmental agencies which we would be better off without. By definition, non-essential expenditures.
it seems to me that the Democrats would be wise to consider that the longer this goes on the more the American people begin to recognize that the people put out of work by this government shutdown probably shouldn’t have been on the government payroll in the first place.
No, Mr. President. Do not open the government until such time as the Democrats back down and the wall is fully funded.
I will remind you what happened to President Bush when he compromised with Democrats on promises that they would deal with his concerns at the time. He went against his pledge for no new taxes because the Democrats demanded it, and swore they’d be good and do their jobs if he did. The Democrats then turned around to use that broken promise to beat mr. Bush about the head and shoulders come time for reelection.
To the Republicans in Congress, grow a spine. Stand up for what’s right.
Tell the Schumer and Pelosi they get absolutely nothing until the wall gets fully funded. Don’t let the party of Bill Clinton dictate to us what’s moral and what is not.

Did anybody think that anybody who replaced John Conyers as representative for Michigan would have to be an improvement? Evidently not, democrats have a large pool of scum candidates, and the pool is very deep.
If Mrs. Pelosi has any hope of maintaining even the marginal levels of comity for which the House is infamous, she needs to keep her charges on the reservation.
