Whore of the Day: Samira Jassam

Well whore is not the perfect way to describe Samira Jassam, but it will do.   This story is disgusting on several levels,  Herald Sun (AU):

A WOMAN suspected of recruiting more than 80 female suicide bombers has confessed to organising their rapes so she could later convince them that martyrdom was the only way to escape the shame.

Samira Jassam, 51, was arrested by Iraqi police and confessed to recruiting the women and orchestrating dozens of attacks.

Folks, this is the kind of sickness we are facing with the world wide Jihadi assault on civilization. Here we have the heartwarming story of kindly grandma Um al-Mumenin. She’s just the local little old lady that all the kiddies love, that’s all. She bakes cookies, loves the kids and instructs all the local young ladies on the fine art of suicide bombing. Yep, she’s an all around community organizer, she is. But, before she takes up the important instruction of all those girls eager for martyrdom, she arranges to have them raped so that later when she recruits them they are mentally “prepared” to feel that suicide bombing is the only way to regain their lost “honor.”

 Hmmm community organizer?

Religions of peace?

All cultures are equal?

Non-Judgmentalism?

We need to show these reprobates respect?

Somebody out put a bullet in the back  of this b*tch’s head and bury her body  in a pig sty.   Do you judge me wrong?

In any case, assuming the rape story is true, consider the many levels on which this is depraved. A Muslim woman is arranging for Muslim men to rape Muslim women in order to shame those Muslim women into committing suicide for the purpose of murdering other Muslim men, women and children. And all of this is done in the name of Islam

First off, you’ll pardon me if I don’t shed any tears over Tom Daschle. Hopefully, he’ll be staying gone for good this time, though I doubt that’ll happen.  He’s too deep in the councils of the Democrats to stay gone for very long.

Even in the unlikely event Daschle is out of the picture totally,  don’t be thinking that Government healthcare is hobbled , either. Obama will simply find someone else to head the push. Howard Dean comes to mind, his record of being an incompetent boob not withstanding. Seems something of a job requirement, anymore, anyway.

Only after he withdrew his name.(Apparently at the request of the Obama White House) did we discover that the limo and driver and the taxes involved with that, were not the only problem as regards taxes and Daschle’s lobby efforts. Turns out he’d been flying on private jets, as well. That’s a grade one crime in the world of the leftist, unless you happen to be flying into a global warming conference to hear Al Gore tell everyone how evil the rich are for flying their jets and driving their limos and SUV’s.  Why we didn’t hear about that until AFTER he withdrew his name is a subject for speculation, but it’s not hard to draw the conclusion that the additional dirt was a motivator in Obama pushing him under the bus.

It should be pointed out that the name, and transgressions of Nancy Killefer were floated as a nifty little distraction, prior to the announcement that Daschle was history. Clearly, someone thought the screaming would be shorter lived if the stories came out both at once.

I note Boortz making similar sounds this morning to my thoughts on this Daschle matter, and he notes a Newsbusters story, that reports MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell is suggesting all these corruption revelations are all the work of the Republicans. Can you beat it? Quips Boortz:

Oh yeah, that’s right. It’s those evil Republicans behind this whole thing. Karl Rove was orchestrating the entire scenario from a bunker deep under the mountains of West Virginia. In the world of liberal politics a liberal is never responsible for his own actions or, in Daschle’s case, political demise.

Well, of course.  It’s all Rove’s fault. After all, he talked Daschle ,  Killefer  and Geithner into not paying their taxes. He told William Jefferson that nobody would ever look in the freezer.  He convinced Charlie Rangel that nobody would ever ask any questions about his illegal money dealings. He convinced Blago that nothing would ever come from Democrat party busienss as usual. He convinced Eliot Spitzer that he should be giving in to his sexual whims, despite those whims being something he’d have procecuted six months before. After all, nobody will ever say anything.

It’s all Rove’s fault.

And the current Fitzgerald investigation I mentioned earlier today, involving a lot of Democrat big wigs… Yeah, that too, is all Rove. Ignore, of course the idea that Fitz was apparently totally uncontrollable during the Plame investigation, right?

Damn, that Rove is a bloody genius.

I keep hearing names bandied about, that  Special Procecutor Patrick Fitzgerald is supposed to be hearing, as well.  Oh, yes, Fitz is still out there.

 The names?  Well, they’re ones you’ll want to keep tucked away, because in my estimation, they’re going to loom large very shortly.

MilanPetrovic.  He’s quite a little Fundraiser, is Petrovic. Reportedly, Blago’s top fundraiser, and very much involved in collecting funds for Barry O, as well, raising according to some reports, nearly 2 million dollars for  Blago… That’s about half again as much as Tony Rezko ever raised for him. At least, that they’re telling us about. (You’ll recall Rezko had some rather ummmm interesting methods of fundraising, that you wouldn’t want on the books, if you know what I mean.

 Last I heard, Petrovic was the founder and President of Advanced Practical Solutions located in downtown Chicago, Illinois. This is… or was….(the website) is currently not responding… essentially a consulting firm, which makes sure the client’s message gets out there. Whoever the client is.  These included Motorola,  Trump Casino and the Illinois Hospital Association. And Blago, of course, as a part of the Democrat Party Machine in Illinois.

 Petrovic’s name first came up (In my files, anyway) in 2003, with reports that Petrivic was making a nice little pile of cash by lobbying the Hospital board. Apparently, there’s some sort of connection between Petrivic’s lobbying efforts and Michelle Obama’s $300,000/yr job, as remembered by Joshua Pundit:

 After Barack Obama became an Illinois state legislator, his wife moved up as well, scoring a job as ‘vice president of community relations’ at the University Of Chicago Hospital for a very generous salary of $121,910. When Obama became a senator in 2005, her ‘salary’ leapfrogged to $$316,962 for the same job…and one of Senator Obama’s first acts in office was to see to it that the hospital received over a million dollars of your tax dollars as an earmark.

Well, Michelle has moved on,and guess what…that vital job of hers,worth a salary of over $300 K has been quietly eliminated.

 Heh. Nothing suspicious here, huh?

Another name that keeps coming up, in my research of Petrvic, is David Wilhelm, who you may recall as the former Democratic National Committee chair. He also was reportedly a ‘top advisor’ to Blago.

 Apparently, Petrivic recently contacted the FBI in Springfield offering to turn states’ evidence… in short, trying to keep himself out of jail. Apparently among the various names offered up was Rahm Emanuel, Obama’s chief of staff. It’s unconfirmed, but I keep hearing he offered up Obama himself.

 Alonzo Monk is the second name.  The Chicago Sun Times notes him as being a fundraiser, too.. In short, a left-wing lobby type.

 Monk is a major player in the eyes and ears of Fitzgerald. Monk is reprtedly “Lobbyist 1” in the criminal complaint against Blago. Monk was on Blago’s staffas far back as 2001, when Blago was a state legislator. Eventually, Monk made it to the level of Blago’s Chief of staff when he was elected Governor.

 Monk’s name keeps coming up with what looks to be the name of a smaller player in terms of Obama, but he was certainly front line stuff with Blago, one John Wyma. I’m not sure of the level of Wyma’s involvement, but I’m not hearing enough about him currently to be a concern except as a possible money connection point. Reportedly, Wyma, Monk and Petrivic got their clients millions in state contracts, which in Blago’s employ, serving as both Blago’s staff, and lobbyists.

 Monk’s name also keeps coming up with connections to David Axelrod and Valerie Jarrett, both now senior advisers to Barack Obama.

 How these names will eventually play out is the big question.  But I thought some background might be useful going forward.

Philip Sherwell, Telegraph(UK) asks:

[Is Barack Obama’s] determination to push through Mr Daschle’s nomination, regardless of the developments of the last few days, was either politically tone-deaf, inept, naïve loyalty or straightforward “I won” arrogance. Or some combination of the above.

It certainly does not seem like that much-vaunted change from business as usual in Washington.

 All of the above.

Is Speaker Tablecloth about to rejoin the rank and file, Ed Morrissey, Hot Air:

Congress just started the 111th Session just four weeks ago, and already some Democrats have had enough of Nancy Pelosi’s ham-handed tactics. A rebellion has begun to brew among moderates in Pelosi’s caucus that wants a return to “regular order”, in which the committees return to their normal process of crafting and modifying legislation instead of a select group of elites ramming it down their throats.

Color Moe Lane, Red State, skeptical:

There is, of course, one questionable aspect of the above equation: it assumes that the Republican caucus can manage to Hold The Line on critical votes. In fact, for this to work, you’d need to see evidence that they were prepared to do something like, I don’t know: make a unanimous decision to buck a popular President on an endlessly-touted fiscal bill that, no matter how flawed, was pretty much guaranteed passage anyway. And, of course, such a display of political fortitude and rock-solid determination has not been seen in the House GOP since the days of last week.

I don’t think the blue dogs are ready to revolt yet.   However the longer Mrs. Pelosi’s ham fisted rule continues, the more likely the blue dogs are to bolt.   If Mrs. Pelosi wants to continue as Speaker she needs to learn how to represent the interests outside of San Francisco.   Good luck with that.

As usual, there’s lots going on, most of it both predictable and avoidable. Let’s get to it.

• Cutting the Military? The only sizeable cuts in spending Any Democrat has applied, in recent memory, have been to the Military. No shock then that Obama’s following suit.   Max Boot thinks this is a stupid thing to do… and I think Max has it right, even leaving aside the idea that spending on things Military would be as a stimulus far more effective than anything in the Bill Obama’s pushing for.
• Bailout perspective: Let me put some perspective on the bailout. Even at the levels of $825BUSD currently proposed,  that comes to $17,000 US for every household in the country.  Want to stimulate the economy? Simply give every taxpayer in the country that $17,000 by not collecting it in taxes.  In the end, it’d work better to get the economy moving than anything that anyone in Washington has proposed, and would cost less to implement… and it also has the advantage of keeping the power of ‘directing’ where the money gets spent, out of Washngton’s hands.   Which of course is why it’ll never happen, that way. It’s a bear arranging political payoffs, if government isn’t in control.
• Obama lied, people died! David and I both have remarked on the lack of help being sent the Ice storm victims in Kentucky. Now, Steve Gill asks the question: Where’s Obama?   So too, does Rick Moran.  Rick also raises the issue of the past screaming of Democrats about Katrina:
  

  IT’S GOT TO BE THAT OBAMA HATES WHITE PEOPLE AND WANTS THEM TO DIE!

  Of course, I am just aping what lefty blogs were saying about Bush less than 24 hours after Katrina’s hurricane winds stopped blowing. But AP is reporting that Midwest disaster relief people are none too pleased with our new president’s FEMA.

  In Kentucky’s Grayson County, there are 25 National Guardsmen there to help – but no chain saws to cut away fallen limbs and trees. EM Director Randell Smith is quoted as saying, “We’ve got people out in some areas we haven’t even visited yet,” Smith said. “We don’t even know that they’re alive.”

  Smith is also quoted as saying that FEMA is a “no show.”

  And then there’s this:

  FEMA spokeswoman Mary Hudak said some agency workers had begun working Friday in Kentucky and more help was on the way. Hudak said FEMA also has shipped 50 to 100 generators to the state to supply electricity to such facilities as hospitals, nursing homes and water treatment plants.

  “We have plenty of folks ready to go, but there are some limitations with roads closed and icy conditions,” she noted.

  Gee – you mean the conditions of the roads has something to do with FEMA‘s response time? Now, don’t you wonder what the roads near New Orleans looked like after a Category 4 storm made landfall?  If you listened to all the screaming coming from the left about FEMA inaction, you would have to believe that those roads were as clean as a whistle, just like driving down the Interstate on a summer day. The only reason FEMA failed was because George Bush HATED BLACK PEOPLE AND WANTED THEM TO DIE!  And in this case, FEMA is being stopped by a few trees, not roads made impassable due to flooding and other debris..

  Exactly so, Rick. The Hypocracy with these Democrats is flat out amazing, and Rick does a great job of calling them on it. Obvious question, though is why the Dinosaur press isn’t doing so. You KNOW why, though, don’t you, really?

• Gitmo flip-Flop? While we’re on the Subject of Barry The First, we know Obama’s been making noises about closing Gitmo. Now, he’s making (rather suspiciously timed) noises about how he’s worried that the people he’s talking about releasing will attack us again. Well, hello, Barry, what the blink did you figure Bush was keeping the place open, for, anyway?
• Silly Radio Dept: I note that on HOT AIR yesyerday, and on Boortz today, there’s a lot of fairly well justified grave dancing about DC’s “Obama 1260AM” going away. What neither article says, however, is something Scott Fybush pointed out to me last night;  That the guy who owns that 1260 signal also owns a 5kw signal on 570, called until recently,  “McCain 570”, which also went to other angles of programming abou the same time. No question that both are quite silly in terms of programming, but if you’re in radio, (And I point directly at the Boortz people, here) maybe it’s time you actually started watching what’s going on in the markets you’re in before expounding on them. Comon, guys, research your stuff a bit better, huh?

Unfortunately, new facts have come to light – involving his failure to pay substantial taxes that were owed and his sizable income from health-related companies while he worked in the private sector – that call into question his suitability for the job. We believe that Mr. Daschle ought to step aside and let the president choose a less-blemished successor

WASHINGTON (CNN) — Nancy Killefer on Tuesday withdrew her nomination to become chief performance officer, a new post in President Obama’s administration, a White House spokesman told CNN.

Officials said privately the reason for the withdrawal was unspecified tax issues.

The withdrawal is an embarrassment to the White House, as the much-touted post was aimed at scrubbing the federal budget. 

How much of a pattern do we need to make the point, people?

Chris Dodd has suppsoedly gotten around to releasing details of his Countrywide loans.  But what he’s offered us in response to the 6 months of hammering leaves a lot to be desired.

The Hartford Courant has what documents he’s offered… (a couple reports and a press release) posted on their website.

There’s a lot missing, however. Let me give you a word picture of things;

In submarine warfare, there’s a tactic which was used to good effect often enough. If you’re on the bottom, getting hit with depth charges, you sometimes can get away with blowing some loose parts out the torpedo tubes… anlong with anyone who has been killed, to make the attacking ship thinnk you’re sunk, your hull broken. That tactic is of a kind with what Dodd is giving us here. He’s trying to fake us out.

Look closely, however, and you’ll notice a few things.

First we notice that the only document with any meat on it is a report generated by a company based in the Democrat infleunce dreamland of Chicago.

Secondly, we notice that the press release is short on specifics, and what is posted does nothing to counter the questions which ahve been outstanding for the 6 months or so since dodd promised he’d release the loan documents.

Thirdly, we notice that Dodd does not in fact release the documents he promised he would.  At least, we note that the documents ahve not been posted anywhere online where peple might see them. they’re still under wraps. He has instead released documents of questionable origin… (Chicago? Is he really that tone deaf?) …that refer to the documents he promised to release, but did not.

Not even close, Senator. No cigar. Post the loan docuemnts as you promised.

This is f*cking pathetic.   A neighborhood is gripped by terror and the residents are forced to hold prayer vigils.   As if prayer vigils ever made a dangerous neighborhiood safe, WHEC-TV, Rochester, NY:

On Dayton Street, in the neighborhood where a Rochester Police officer was shot, the neighbors who say the crime is out of control.Just after 5 this evening, a prayer vigil just wrapped up where the officer was shot.

He was the only neighbor willing to talk on camera.”Most people don’t want to come forward because they don’t want to endanger their lives. They don’t want to get shot so they just mind their own business.”

This is what victim disarmament, a/k/a common sense gun control does to an otherwise peaceful neighborhood.    Free men are free to carry arms.   Serfs are not.   The residents of Rochester, like most of New York’s cities, are no more than serfs.

Chrissy Matthews may still get a tingle from the mere thought of  Barack Obama, but Matthews’ tingle does not extend across the pond, Toby Harnden, Telegraph(UK)

Obama, however, cannot get away indefinitely with high-minded but empty statements about changing Washington and tough ethical rules that are enforced except when it suits him.Daschle could yet help reform a broken healthcare system and emerge as a hero to the common man.

If not, however, his very presence in the cabinet might ultimately come to be seen as a symbol of Obama’s hypocrisy

BO  is the master of  soaring campaign rhetoric.    As an executive BO has demonstrated the propsnsity to trip over snags that he himself has planted.    

I do question the notion that Puff Daschle is the (one) face of the Obama administration.   If I were to put one face the adminstration it would be that of Eric Holder.   Yet Daschle does represent the Obama practice of saying one thing while doing another.    The Brits can see it.   So will the the American voters.

Addendum:(Bit)  I’m afraid I’m going to steal a bit of your fire, here. David; I feel a serious rant coming on.

WASHINGTON (AP) –Fighting to salvage his Cabinet nomination, Tom Daschle pleaded his case Monday evening in a closed meeting with former Senate colleagues after publicly apologizing for failing to pay more than $120,000 in taxes. President Barack Obama said he was “absolutely” sticking with his nominee for health secretary, and a key senator added an important endorsement.

The White House both underscored the magnitude of the problem and tried to downplay it in the space of seven words. “Nobody’s perfect,” said press secretary Robert Gibbs. “It was a serious mistake. …” 

No, it was a crime. It’s an outragethat this slimeball is even being considered for this position. The average man on the street has more in the way of ethics than Tom Daschle has demonstated himself to have.  He may well have a fairly speciifc skill set… (Frankly I don’t think so, but let’s run with it on the assumption he does) but what good is that skillset without ethics? 

To your point, David, he may well not be the face of the Obama administration, but I see that as a function of there being so many Democrats inside and outside this administration, who are to say the  very least ethically challanged, and the ones currently on that long list are only the ones who have been caught.  When there is this amount of ethics lapses on the surface, what else is going on under that polished surface?

It’s as I said yesterday:

At some point, we out here in flyover country have to admit to ourselves that there’s a pattern here that is at least optically challenging. The more observant among this will have to admit that it is far more than that. It is outright criminality, and a pattern of it which is directly connected to the Obama administration.

I‘ll go even further; It’s time to admit to ourselves that all this business surrounding the Blagojevich impeachment, and the upcoming criminal trial, was trying to tell us something rather crucial that we as a nation ignored last November. To my mind, it amplifies the question of Obama being able to arise from that fetid sewer known as Chicago politics, without bringing it’s values… or the lack of them, with him to the White House. Perhaps, given the level of warning we’ve had, we shouldn’t be surprised at what we see today.

The President tells us that he’s chosen people with a particularly vital skillset, and that ‘minor’ ethics problems shouldn’t block their nomination because these positions are imporatnt… that current conditions make their import ‘too big to fail’. Tell me, please, at what point in our nations history were they NOT ‘too big to fail’? At what point would a failure not have caused our nation great harm? Yet, we never had it offered up to us that ethics lapses could or should be ignored for these positions…. before the current crop of Democrats came along, of course.

I’m going to send a message, here to Sen. Mitch McConnell :

You’re blowing this. Grow a pair for goshsakes and take a stand for ethics. The first thing… the VERY first thing that is needed in any government position is ethics. Just sitting back and withholding comment while the Democrats offer up a long string of ethically challanged doesn’t do the country any good… and thereby does YOU and the Republicans no good, because it makes the Republicans party to the ethics problems.

If you can’t find it in you to stand up and start screaming over this stuff, it’s time to find someone to replace YOU, as well.

Fox News is reporting some democrats want to “gut” the Pelosi-Reid-Obama debt bill:

Nebraska Sen. Ben Nelson, who sits on the Senate Appropriations Committee, said Republicans and Democrats alike want to gut the nearly $900 billion program of items that he says will not stimulate job growth.

Ben Nelson and Russ Feingold are the only two democrats mentioned by name.   However Nelson is talking multiple democrats.   Nelson is not talking tweaking.  He talking about gutting  Pelosi-Reid-Obama     If the repubicans stand united, a big if, a solid republican bloc and a few sober democrats could torpedo Mrs. Pelosi’s crap sandwhich.

Obama insists the the Senate’s objections to Pelosi-Reid-Obama are minor.   Nelson is talking major.  Let us see who has a better grasp on reality.   I say if Pelosi-Reid-Obama goes down in flame, it takes the nebulous Obama administration with it.  What say you?

 There’s a lot to discuss, today, and here’s some of it, in order of importance:

• The Punxsutawney Prognosticator Predicts Plowable Piles (6 More Weeks) Yeah, it’s groundhog day. The day when a rodent with all the intellect of an ant and the vision of Mr. Magoo, reportedly managed to see his shadow this morning  with the supposed help of around 20,000 cheering yahoos,  most of who couldn’t see the critter at all, not to mention the help of around 50,000 watts of Kleig lighting strewn about the stage.  Under those conditions, I wouldn’t expect the shadows created by the sun to be anything but a non-issue.  I also keep expecting Al Gore to come out of that little box. His predictions of weather are based on the same science, after all. Besides….If Al Gore was a woodchuck, would that make him a cannibal?
• No Global Warming: Speaking of which, Czech President Vaclav Klaus is  saying that global warming is all a hoax… again. He’s correct of course.
• Snow in London:  I see London has the heaviest snow in 20 years, this morning. Busses aren’t running, and essentially, things are shut down, there. I halfway expected Gore’s name to pop up in London on my tickler file, today. No such luck.
• Google Brands everything harmful: So, Google branded Bitsblog harmful to your browser? Along with everything else on the web, of course.
• I’m feeling spent: Victor Davis Hanson, this morning asks at Pajamas Media:
  

  How does one explain how California is broke, tens of billions of dollars in aggregate debt, despite having among the highest sales and income taxes in the nation?”

  The simple answer of course is they’re spending even more, while penalizing those foolish enough to actually produce. It’s a message I’ve delivered often here at Bitsblog, but never quite so well as Hanson does today.

• Protectionism returns: You should hear the chatter on Canadian radio around my neck of the woods. Remember, I’m within earshot of most of Eastern Canada here at Casa De Bit.  They’re a little upset at Obama’s insistance on  the “Buy American”  caluse of the supposed ‘economic stimulation’  bill, and frankly I don’t blame them.  I’ll tell you, that thing is about as stimulating as a knife in the heart, even if we exclude the rest of it. Go and read what I said this morning about FDR, again and apply the principle here.
• Late for School on account of Super Bowl: Mildly interesting to listen to KDKA on the way in for a few minutes this morning. It appears there’s a lot of government schools down there running a couple hours behind, given Pooper Bowl festivities last night. First time I’ve ever heard that kind of thing being the reason schools alter their schedules. Hopefully, the two hours will help the kids nurse their hangovers, huh?
• Is Jenny There?  Just for laughs, I flip over to the other end of the state…Philly… 1210/WPHT… and I hear someone who sounded like Smirkonish rattling on about Alex Call (Tommy Tutone) for reasons I couldn’t quite make out over the IBOC hash from 1180/WHAM. Now, I understand why. 
• No touchdown: Speaking of the supposed game, aren’t they suppose to actually get both feet down to complete a reception? I can’t imagine the Cards not rasing hell about that one with the leauge. Not that it’ll do anyone much good, now. Idiots. Just add this on my list of things the NFL is seriously screwing up.
• Songbird: Kudos, though, go to Jennifer Hudson, whose performance of “The Star Spangled Banner” would have been remarkable even without the backstory surrounding her recent family tragedy.  There’s a lot of performers who use that kind of a shot to show off their supopsed talent,  and improv the song into oblivion while trying to be impressive. While she lent some improvisation to the song, Hudson first connected with the song and it’s meaning last night, instead of first falling in love with her voice and connecting with that. Were that more understood the difference.  The only flaw I could find? It would have been helpful if the idiot running the board hadn’t buried her voice in the mix when her voice swelled…(Got louder). Most vocalists trained in mike technique know enough to back off the mike a bit under those conditions. Hudson, from what I heard…(I didn’t see it… I was about 90 miles west of home at the time) … did just that. The guy running the mix anticipated not once but twice, and incorrectly both times, that she wouldnt, and backed her mike off.  the result in the Mono mix I caught was that she sounded like she was being moved into the background for a few seconds. Not good. But that’s technical stuff. She, herself, was fabulous.
•  Looks dirty to me:  Sen. Dodd says he’ll refinance Countrywide loans…  So says Drudge. Question, though; If the loans weren’t dirty, as Dodd claims, why would he need to do that? And why has he still… still… not offered up the loan documents?

We have yet another tax issue showing up on the list of people nominated for service in the Obama administration. There seems something of a pattern, here. Jake Tapper and Jon Karl at ABC say:

ABC News has learned that the nomination of former Senator Majority Leader , D-S.D., to be President Obama’s secretary of health and human services has hit a traffic snarl on its way through the Senate Finance Committee. The controversy deals with a car and driver lent to Daschle by a wealthy Democratic friend – a chauffeur service the former senator used for years without declaring it on his taxes.

Go and look at the report. There is far more to it than this one transgression. You’re going to find that what it suggests is outright tax fraud on the part of Daschle.

Of course, it should be noted that this may not make a difference as to whether not the nomination of Daschle is confirmed. We already know based on the long list of apparent criminal activity by Democrats that is being ignored by this White House and this Congress that such things simply don’t matter to them. Clearly, if such things did matter, questions like “Are you up to date on all your taxes ?” would have been asked, and the answers investigated to at least some cursory level. Clearly, they were not. Ergo, we may assume such things simply don’t matter to them.

At some point, we out here in flyover country have to admit to ourselves that there’s a pattern here that is at least optically challenging. The more observant among this will have to admit that it is far more than that. It is outright criminality, and a pattern of it which is directly connected to the Obama administration.

I’ll go even further; It’s time to admit to ourselves that all this business surrounding the Blagojevich impeachment, and the upcoming criminal trial, was trying to tell us something rather crucial that we as a nation ignored last November. To my mind, it amplifies the question of Obama being able to arise from that fetid sewer known as Chicago politics, without bringing it’s values… or the lack of them, with him to the White House. Perhaps, given the level of warning we’ve had, we shouldn’t be surprised at what we see today.

I hasten to add, the criminal aspect is not the only aspect that deserves some attention here. According to the report, Mr. Daschle didn’t report $83,333.00 in consulting income in 2007. How many people make so much money that they forget a portion of it is taxable income? We are told repeatedly by these same Democrats, Daschle included, how evil the rich are. Yet by their own standards, Mr. Daschle comes up as looking rather rich. And dishonest. For that matter, so too does Tim Geithner, for many of the same reasons.

The question now before us is what the Republicans, who have shown every inclination to bend over backward to accommodate the Democrats, will do with this tax cheat.

I said when Geithner’s tax issue came to the fore, that if the Republicans ignored it, they were aiding and abetting criminal activity. I’ve seen some questioning on the net as to whether or not Mr. Daschle’s apparently larger levels of tax cheating would force the Republicans to respond. I suggest that it may not.

The reason can be traced to an old joke about a John going to a prostitute. He asks the prostitute if she would sleep withhim for a Million Dollars. She says “of course”. He asks “Would you sleep with me for a dollar?” She responds with “What kind of a girl do you think I am?” Says the John, “We’ve already established that. Now, we are haggling over price”.

The pattern of Republican on response to these matters within the current administration, has already been established. Any response now would be out of character. If the Republicans at this point respond to the tax cheat that Tom Daschle has apparently been revealed to be, it’s going to be a little difficult to explain why they didn’t respond to similar conditions in the case of Tim Geithner. On the other hand, should they decide to contuinue to prostitute themselves on the alter of ‘bipartisanship’ by not responding to this issue, they will be hard pressed to take the high road at anytime in the near future. They will thus relegate themselves to political oblivion, and justifiably so.

The Republicans have backed themselves into an unattractive corner. No matter what they do at this point, it’s going to cause them some pain. However, in the long term, the only way out of this and back into any respect among the American voters, is for the Republicans to actually grow a spine about the wave of criminality emanating from the Democrats in general, and particularly among the Obama administration and it’s appointees.

Update: Politico puts this in even sharper contrast:

If a Bush appointee got rich off of Wall Street in this climate, had a chauffeur from one of his fat cat cronies, had unpaid taxes that amounted to more than what most people make in a year, and then the administration tried to fix it behind closed doors. Democrats would call for his head and would demand ‘accountability.” But will Republicans have the guts to do the same?

The answer is ‘of course not’.  Why, it wouldn’t be ‘bipartisan’.
