Another Democrat Double Standard- a Trap in the Making?

There’s a lot of Leftie blogs complaining that Sarah Palin has yet to meet with the press.  Josh Marshall, by way of Memorandum, as an example:

There’s a lot of complaining that the McCain campaign won’t allow anyone to interview Sarah Palin. And for the major news outlets that would be in line for such an interview there’s a logic to keeping up the drumbeat. But McCain campaign manager Rick Davis is right: It’s their campaign to run. They can do it how they want. Everyone else should just shut up, stop complaining and call the reality for what it is.

Davis says Palin won’t give any interviews until she feels “comfortable” giving one. And this morning he added that she wouldn’t give any “until the point in time when she’ll be treated with respect and deference.”

Sarah Palin could be the President of the United States in four and a half months. We tend to think of this as an abstraction; but it’s true. And yet today she’s so unprepared and knows so little about the challenges and tasks facing the country that she can’t even give a softball interview.

Given the glass houses meme, this seems a rather strange complaint for the Democrats to make, while the top of their own ticket is intentionally stonewalling reporters as regards his relationship with confessed and unrepentant terrorist William Ayers. And we should, I think be asking Stan Kurtz about that.

The Special Collections section of the Richard J. Daley Library agreed to let me read them, but just before I boarded my flight to Chicago, the top library officials mysteriously intervened to bar access. Circumstances strongly suggest the likelihood that Bill Ayers himself may have played a pivotal role in this denial. Ayers has long taught at UIC, where the Chicago Annenberg Challenge offices were housed, rent-free. Ayers likely arranged for the files of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge to be housed in the UIC library, and may well have been consulted during my unsuccessful struggle to gain access to the documents.

The reason for the stonewall of course is that it would make Obama out the liar I’ve always seen him as.  Particularly, it would expose the long and warm relationship between Obama and the radical left terrorist.

Although the press has been notably lax about pursuing the matter, the full story of the Obama-Ayers relationship calls the truth of Obama’s account seriously into question. When Obama made his first run for political office, articles in both the Chicago Defender and the Hyde Park Herald featured among his qualifications his position as chairman of the board of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, a foundation where Ayers was a founder and guiding force. Obama assumed the Annenberg board chairmanship only months before his first run for office, and almost certainly received the job at the behest of Bill Ayers. During Obama’s time as Annenberg board chairman, Ayers’s own education projects received substantial funding. Indeed, during its first year, the Chicago Annenberg Challenge struggled with significant concerns about possible conflicts of interest. With a writ to aid Chicago’s public schools, the Annenberg challenge played a deeply political role in Chicago’s education wars, and as Annenberg board chairman, Obama clearly aligned himself with Ayers’s radical views on education issues. With Obama heading up the board and Ayers heading up the other key operating body of the Annenberg Challenge, the two would necessarily have had a close working relationship for years (therefore “exchanging ideas on a regular basis”). So when Ayers and Dorhn hosted that kickoff for the first Obama campaign, it was not a random happenstance, but merely further evidence of a close and ongoing political partnership. Of course, all of this clearly contradicts Obama’s dismissal of the significance of his relationship with Ayers.

And these are the people raising so much hell over Palin being mike shy?  I think what’s going on here is pretty obvious.

I’m going to be posting, Monday night, a list of scandals the left has tried against Palin, all of which have blown up in their faces.  I allowed the other night as how what got the Democrats got themselves into trouble with Palin is their bloody-minded enthusiasm in attacking Palin, with all the stuff on that list, and more…… while she retreated until her RNC speech, where she sprung the trap.  My guess is she’s doing it to them again… and the results of that will be just as good polling wise for McCain- Palin as it was last time.

A woman in the crowd told Obama she had “heard a rumor” that he might be planning some sort of gun ban upon being elected president. Obama trotted out his standard policy stance, that he had a deep respect for the “traditions of gun ownership” but favored measures in big cities to keep guns out of the hands of “gang bangers and drug dealers” in big cities “who already have them and are shooting people.”

“If you’ve got a gun in your house, I’m not taking it,” Obama said. But the Illinois senator could still see skeptics in the crowd, particularly on the faces of several men at the back of the room.

So he tried again. “Even if I want to take them away, I don’t have the votes in Congress,” he said. “This can’t be the reason not to vote for me. Can everyone hear me in the back? I see a couple of sportsmen back there. I’m not going to take away your guns.”

It was classic Obama: He said next to nothing at great length but tried very hard to make it sound deeply thoughtful when it was in fact nonsense.

Fox News:

John McCain’s campaign prepared to accuse Democrats on Saturday of leaving behind 12,000 miniature American flags after Barack Obama’s nomination acceptance speech last Thursday in Denver.

Boy Scouts have arrived with 84 trash bags full of bundles of flags at the site of a McCain rally scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m. local time in Colorado Springs.

The campaign says the flags were recovered from Invesco Field after the Democrats concluded their convention there, and they are going to be used as part of the warm-up ceremonies before McCain takes the stage for the rally.

FOX News has been told a vendor at Invesco Field found the flags, which were going to be thrown out, and turned them over to the McCain campaign.

Veterans in Colorado Springs are expected to distribute the flags to the audience at the rally.

First of all, a great response by the McCain people.

But more importantly, this is an example of how the Democrats love their country.

Obama has faced questions about his patriotism since the beginning of the Democratic primary, and has set up a Web site specifically designed to fight such charges.

And even after this, I’ll bet he still wonders why this image of not being patriotic hounds him.  This is what we’re up against, people. This is depressingly typical of the Democrats.

Of course we’ll all be told Obama had nothing to do with it. I say you’re judged by the company you keep.

Well, at least the Democrats didn’t toss the flag in with a bunch of candy wrappers, greasy discarded pizza boxes, torn up Obama signs, and empty water bottles, right?

Ummm. Yeah.  Well, you know how it is…. The Democrats needed to store the flags in with the empty pizza boxes, water bottles food garbage and other trash while they figured out where their patriotism disappeared to.

Oh, and no, before you start… these were not one time use things, not that it matters. A goodly chunk of them were the cloth variety, and large enough to be seen on TV… but apparently not large enough in the hearts of those carrying them, to care for them properly.

Well, the Democrats are now claiming by way of the Huff and Puff, that it’s all a lie, that the flags were stolen.

Lie. OK, I know… what else would you expect the Democrats to say? But still… they’re lying.

One of the compelling anecdotes about Sarah Palin is that she auctioned off the Alaska governor’s jet on eBay after taking office — a swift move made by a reformer hoping to clean up the excesses of her predecessor.

But in fact, the jet did not sell on eBay. It was sold to a businessman from Valdez named Larry Reynolds, who paid $2.1 million for the jet, shy of the original $2.7 million purchase price, according to contemporaneous news reports, including a story in the New York Times.

While I was at it, I got rid of a few things in the governor’s office that I didn’t believe our citizens should have to pay for.

I mean, I’ve seen some manufactured attacks, but this one really smells. Perhaps you’re trying to draw attention away from her actually doing the work of the people? Can you point to a Democrat in recent times doing anything of the sort… giving up taxpayer funded luxury and not acting like they’ve earned that luxury?

In an absolutely classic case of do as I say and not as I do, Barack “thin skin” Obama today made a rather hot attack on Sarah Palin’s quip about community organizers. This is especially funny coming from the man who has made it a point to belittle Palin’s experience as a small town mayor while trying to completely avoid mentioning that she also happens to be governor of the state of Alaska.>

Last weekend, we did the New York State Festival of Balloons from Dansville, and posted a number of pics here on that topic. Just found a link on You Tube for the same event, and though you’d be interested. These were apparently taken the night before we were there. The wind was moving to the south, the night we were there. On this vid the wind was moving in the opposite direction.

She’s been through it, what four days?”

Obama’s hackles were clearly raised by Palin’s dismissal of his community organizing –a response to his earlier dismissal of her record as a small-town mayor. “Why would that kind of work be ridiculed?” Obama said. “Who are they fighting for?” The idea that community organizing is not relevant to the presidency, he said, just shows why Republicans “are out of touch and don’t get it.”

Says the man who keeps calling John McCain the same as George Bush.  There’s a word for a man who can dish it out but can’t take it.  I’ll leave it to you to reach your own conclusions.

BO wants us to believe he ready to stand-up the the leaders of the World.  Yet BO can’t even handle one hockey mom from Wisella.  Pathetic.

The bus is leaving and is starting on it’s 60 day journey, so let’s get to it.
After watching all the candidates, and after thinking intently about this for some time, now, I am to the conclusion that John McCain/Sarah Palin ticket is the only logical choice for where to place our support, as Americans. I know this will come as a bit of amusement to those who have been noting the questions about McCain I’ve had as this campaign started a year or so back.

Rest assured, those questions remain. However, if we view government as a necessary evil, as I have stated so often over the years, then we are forced by logic to admit that there is no perfect candidate. There are some who think that because of that, they cannot in good conscience vote for anyone who does not fit their criteria perfectly. However, that view too, is dead wrong in that it turns power over to a greater evil by way of abdication. I find that unacceptable.

I say it is incumbent upon us to support the least evil choice available to us, thereby choosing the path that is the least danger to our country, and thereby ourselves and our children, and the cause of freedom. A quick if slightly inaccurate way of saying it, is that we need to chose the person who will cause our country and its freedoms, the least damage. That criteria has never changed, over the 200 plus years of our county’s history, nor will it, ever.
Let’s leave aside the issue of experience for a moment. What’s left is the issue of trust.

Barack Obama, for whatever you consider to be his qualifications, freely associates with, and owes his career to William Ayers of the Weather Underground, who bombed the Capitol building and other buildings, and whose group is directly responsible for the deaths of police officers and others. Far from being repentant, Ayers now says he wishes he could have done more. Yet Barack Obama thinks Ayers to be just an average mainstream guy’. Obama’s people have been working hard against Stan Kurtz, who has been digging into the Obama Ayers relationship, using any tools at their disposal including threats. Forgive me, this does not engender trust that he’s got America’s best interest at heart.
That one point, all by itself would be enough to disqualify from ANY office in the land, much less the presidency. Now that statement is limited to people who had less of a myth built up around themselves, of course, Even that myth is starting to look a little shaky, however, now that Obama and those surrounding him, have had a chance to define him. When not taken in by the myths, someone looking with a critical eye does not find a great deal there to engender trust. The long list of unanswered questions… and more particularly, unsatisfactorily answered questions, leave him looking wanting, and simply unqualified for the office of POTUS.
Add to that, the idea of sitting in a radical’s church for 20 years, steeping his family in the activism of a preacher who screams “God Damn America” from the pulpit, and then claims he had ‘no idea that was going on’ does not strike me as overly trustworthy.
Someone who will meet unconditionally with the largest sponsor of state terrorism, Iran, without any preconditions whatever. doesn’t strike me as being overly trustworthy. The issue of trust in that particular should also be a major consideration to supporters of Israel… as we all should be. Given Joe Lieberman’s ties, there, I can’t help but think the major reason he did the speech the other night at the RNC was that he simply doesn’t trust Obama where Israel is concerned.

John McCain, on the other hand, while I make no secret about my distaste for some areas of his policies, is by comparison the far better choice, the far less evil choice. McCain draws a thick bright line between their approaches:

Senator Obama wants our schools to answer to unions and entrenched bureaucracies. I want schools to answer to parents and students. And when I’m President, they will.
…
Senator Obama thinks we can achieve energy independence without more drilling and without more nuclear power. But Americans know better than that. We must use all resources and develop all technologies necessary to rescue our economy from the damage caused by rising oil prices and to restore the health of our planet.
…
Again and again, I’ve worked with members of both parties to fix problems that need to be fixed. That’s how I will govern as President. I will reach out my hand to anyone to help me get this country moving again. I have that record and the scars to prove it. Senator Obama does not.
…
I’m not running for president because I think I’m blessed with such personal greatness that history has anointed me to save our country in its hour of need. My country saved me. My country saved me, and I cannot forget it. And I will fight for her for as long as I draw breath, so help me God.

All these considerations add up to only one logical conclusion. Therefore, and after careful consideration of all this and much more,  BitsBlog offers it’s endorsement for the office of President of these United States to the ticket of John McCain and Sarah Palin.

Can anyone explain to me the difference between the role Obama claims he played in his ‘community organizer’ days, and the role of “community organizer” Al Sharpton, and “community organizer” Jesse Jackson?

The good news, the bad news, John McCain was well McCain.   He is not changing who he is.

Funny thing, McCain is seventy-two and his biography has no blank chapters.   BO is but forty-seven, but his bio is full of blank chapters.   McCain is far from perfect.   He not pretend to be otherwise.  BO is far from perfect but is running as if he were a messiah.   McCain is selling an honest bill of goods.

Both BO and McCain are no messiahs, just men.  McCain admits it.

Someone was apparently reading MichaelW over at Q&O yesterday when he suggested playing “Barracuda” for Sarah Palin. Of course now, The Wilson sisters are doing the cease and desist number.

Ya know, ladies, I say this as a longtime fan… I have to tell you, that’s petty, and mean-spirited… but then again it’s what I’ve come to expect from liberals. However, I expected more from you.

I’ll have more to say in the morning, after a few hours of shuteye.  At first blush, though, I think he did OK. McCain has never been the strongest speaker anyway, so delivery was about as strong as one would expect, and certainly stronger than usual, given the importance of the event. But, of course what was said, put the thing high, far, and gone. The object of the night, as with Palin’s speech last night, was to allow us to see into the heart of the candidate, if you will.  And we have seen his heart.

• Interesting news; apparently that brilliant speech from Palin last night was genuine… the teleprompter for at least part of the speech was broken…. as David has already reported here. So much for another rumor about Palin being a lightweight. And so much for Obama. One wonders how he’d fare without his teleprompter. I suspect we’d be calling Obama ‘Over’.
• Let’s look at how petty this anti-Palin nonsense is getting. Apparently, the Boston Herald doesn’t like her hair. I’ll bet they would never consider making comments bout whatever that is on the head of Joe Biden.
• And if there is a better indication that Palin was the correct pick, than Gloria Steinem’s outraged growl in the LA Times today, I can’t think of one
  

  Selecting Sarah Palin, who was touted all summer by Rush Limbaugh, is no way to attract most women, including die-hard Clinton supporters. Palin shares nothing but a chromosome with Clinton. Her down-home, divisive and deceptive speech did nothing to cosmeticize a Republican convention that has more than twice as many male delegates as female, a presidential candidate who is owned and operated by the right wing and a platform that opposes pretty much everything Clinton’s candidacy stood for — and that Barack Obama’s still does.

  Of course now, the things that Palin’s critics have been hammering on her for, is exactly what a lot of women, (And I cautiously add Steinem to that list) have been cheering about Hillary.

  Message to Gloria… You want a strong woman? There she stood, last night. And because she’s not a socialist, because she’s not gotten her positoon by means of liberals feeling sorry for her,  because she managed to work her way up through the glass ceiling while not following YOUR edicts…  while maintaining a more or less traditional role within her own home life, you rejected her. Maybe people will find out she managed it, not despite doing it her way and not yours, but BECAUSE OF IT… is what has you so upset?  

  Well, that labels not her, but you, Gloria. Face it… your anger has nothing to do with women’s rights and advancement of women, per se’.  It now and always has been about the advancement of socialism on the backs of women.  Your anger in concert with her accomplishments shows this clearly.  Your attempts to patch up the cracks Palin  has managed to create in the glass ceiling, shows all this more clearly than any op-ed bit ever could…   Not that it shocks many people anymore… Your politics got rejected years ago, save for a paltry few idiot hangers on.  Only you’ve not gotten that message yet.  Well, here you are.Take your dog and pony elsewhere, Gloria.     Oh… and Gloira? Remember, it’s take the bra off THEN burn it, OK?  You’re welcome.

• So the Democrats want toprocecute and jail Bush and his administration, once elected?  Well, then by the same token, let’s try and jail the whole of the Clinton misadministration for Ruby Ridge.. and for demonstrably not having responded corectly to the first WTC attack, which cost in the end, so many American lives. Never let it be said they’re not taking revenge, and for God’s sake, never queston their patriotism.
• Speaking of lagal action look who is on the hot seat about that “Palin Affiar’ meme.
• The Democrats will have another Democrat corruption mess to deal with on October 28th in Detroit. This will play in the vote the following week, I think. Image, as always.

  For all of the issues I have with Dick Morris, it seems to me his (rather offbeat) comparison to the battle of Kursk, pre-speech, is right on the money.Quick overview… (Knowing full well that some of the military types will blow away my memories of the thing, I’ll attempt this) On the Russian front nearing the end of WWII, German forces had an attack plan, using armored divisions. They stromed ahead toward their objective while the Russian Army seemingly retreated before them. The Germans went so far and so fast that they’d gone beyond the end of their supply lines. Once that happened, the Russians sprang their trap, enclosing the German troops to the rear, surrounding them, and isolating them from any hope of getting supplies to continue the fight, or even survive in the cold.

  Translation to this event; When she was named and until last night, the Democrat’s bloody minded howling when Palin got nominated gained them a whole lot of ground in a hurry, but they’ve over extended themselves. They made her into at least a sympathetic character Last night, Palin showed us that the nonsense being fed by the left about Palin was most certainly untrue, and they’ve been exposed.

  The relative silence this morning, as compared to the howling going on a mear 48 hours before, is the proof of this. They’ve been caught out, and know it.

• Which brings to mind the question of “Should the press apologize”… and I say hell, yes.  We both know they will never do it, but there it is.
• I’m not sure I buy Peg Noonan’s explaination but it deserves a read.
• Frankly, I think Lieberman’s problems now run deeper than this… If the vitriol being aimed at the right, these days is of any indication, he’s going to need security around him so long as he still draws breath.
• Boortz is saying, apparently based on buzztracker or Yahoo’s trackers, or whatever, that seaches for Palin are more than 10 ties higher than for Biden. How much of that is genuine interest and support and how much of it is desperate libs digging feces to toss is another issue. Given nothing new has come up recently, the searches for such people are apparently futile.
• I wonder if there’s any relationship between this and recent events with the DNC and Obama
