AssHow stupid does this sound?

“Allowing retailers to make money off of hungry people is wrong.”

So where did you eat breakfast this morning?  All I did was change one word, sick to hungry.  Da Mayor of Boston:

The decision by the state Public Health Council, “jeopardizes patient safety,” Menino said in a written statement. “Limited service medical clinics run by merchants in for-profit corporations will seriously compromise quality of care and hygiene. Allowing retailers to make money off of sick people is wrong.”

Hungry people have to eat, and sick people need medical treatment.  Is it somehow immoral to provide service to remedy the former but not the latter, and if so why?

Addendum:

This ought to be criminal.  CVS is trying to provide medical services to the residents of Boston and their mayor is fighting CVS tooth and nail to oppose the service.  Here the full Boston Globe story:

Mayor Thomas M. Menino embarked on a highly public campaign yesterday to block CVS Corp. and other retailers from opening medical clinics inside their stores, an effort that exposed a rift between Menino and the state’s public health commissioner, a longtime ally.

If I were a crasp liberal like Bill Maher or Joy Bahar, I’d be openly rooting for Menino to get sick.  I hope the good citizen of Boston remember this jerk come election day.
